Yo, yo, yo! Didja catch the Oscar’s last night???? From Viola’s acceptance speech to that final flub up of the biggest award…what a night. J and I had never actually sat down to watch an awards show; we typically just caught up on winners via Twitter the next day. HA. But for some reason, last night we gave it a go, and I’m so glad we stayed up until the final award! And now I’m lookin’ at the calendar and tomorrow is the last day of February, then it’s MARCH, then it’s basically summer, and then it’s basically Christmas again. That’s how it goes, right? 😉 In the meantime, another round of links + things I love is up to bat, and with it a fun lil’ addition that I hope ya dig.
Before I jump into the good stuff, ICYMI, in last night’s #CURation, I sent out a lil’ announcement…CUR is hiring! I’m looking for another intern, to start ASAP. If you read CUR on the reg and want to be considered, shoot me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) introducing yourself, and I’ll reply with more details! 🙂
Now…Links I Love, Things I Love, and a bombdotcom playlist to end February/start March off right!
Links I Love:
2.) 10 things every blogger should know about working with brands. Important for bloggers.
3.) 3 steps to be ambitious and still have inner peace. Important for everyone.
4.) An apple cider rum smash. It’s technically more of a fall drink, seasonally speaking, but I don’t discriminate against downright deliciousness. Plus, how CUTE is it?! Perfect for entertaining guests and wow-ing everyone with a really yummy cocktail.
5.) 6 tips to start thinking about if you wanna adopt a kitten (which you should). These all ring true and have been proven true since having adopted both of our cats. Call me crazy cat lady, and I’ll say give me the kittens.
6.) What’s next for influencers in 2017. This has been making its rounds around blogging communities on the internets, cos it’s full of good information and insight.
7.) A guide to staying resilient no matter what. Including what to actually do about “failures.”
8.) 11 hacks to make you happy, according to science.
My February playlist:
P.S. If ya lovelovelove this playlist, click the green circular Spotify button – you can “follow” the playlist directly in Spotify for anytime access! 🙂
Things I Love:
MAC Ruby Woo – Are ya sick of hearing me rave about this gem of a lippy yet?? In this kissproof blog post, both this ruby red and the orangier counterpart next up make special appearances. I just can’t get enough of ’em…toldja I lovelovelove! Ruby Woo is, in my opinion, the one red lipstick that EVERY girl needs in her makeup bag. It’s matte, but not drying. It’s pigmented, but it won’t rub off on your date. 😉 It’s loooooonglasting as heck. It’s got blue undertones, so it helps make yo’ smile look whiter (whereas orangier undertones bring out yellow in your smile). Ruby Woo applies effortlessly…I like lining my lip with the point first, then filling the rest in accordingly. It’s twice the cost of a drugstore lipstick, but it’s worth every penny. I’d much rather have one tube of Ruby Woo that lasts extra long across the board, than a meh drugstore version that wears off, gets on yo’ teeth (my worst nightmare), has to be reapplied constantly, and isn’t as universally flattering.
MAC Lip Scrubtious in Candied Nectar – When it comes to things I love, MAC is just killin’ it clearly. Like I said here…this stuff just rocks. It’s hands down the *best* lip scrub I’ve ever tried. And every winter, my lips feel it. Between being dehydrated and the cold weather, I feel like I’m needing to exfoliate my pucker every single night – especially since this girl loveloveloves her lipstick. The grit in the Lip Scrubtious is juuuust gritty enough, where it gets off dry skin without over-exfoliating. Yannno those lip scrubs that just leave you feeling…raw? Yup, not Lip Scrubtious. This bad boy also has hydrating and nourishing conditioners in it, which feels amazing on yo’ pout. Other flavor/scents include Fruit of Passion, Summer Berry, Sweet Brown Sugar, and Sweet Vanilla; I’ve got (+ lovelovelove) Candied Nectar, and Summer Berry will probably be my next pick right in time for spring/summer! (And for the record, even tho I always disclose sponsorships anyways, I am not sponsored by MAC. I wish I was. But not yet. 😉 This stuff is just SO bombdotcom, and I’ve been recommending it to all of my girlfriends!)
V-neck Knotted Sweater – I’m SUCH a sucker for versatile, sweaters with a twist. Clearly, literally. 😉 This sweater is from one of the Asian retailers that I shop from pretty regularly. I’m considering doing a sort of “review” post detailing what I would versus would not recommend getting from them…would that be helpful for y’all?? Sound off in comments below! It’s all one-size, and I’d say anyone from XS to M could wear this sweater. It comes in my grey, a darker charcoal, a khaki color, and then other options on their website have everything from olive to maroon. I love the business-in-the-front, party-in-the-back vibe we’ve got goin’ on here. I love the 3/4 length sleeves. And I LOVE(lovelove) the knotty back. Did I mention it’s $20???
Melon Nikes – As soon as I saw these pretty pink gems, I was sold. I mean…pink. I’m a total sneaker sucker, too. So why not add a melon-inspired pair o’ kicks to the upcoming spring wardrobe? I ripped ’em outta the box to try on, and they are SO DANG COMFY – I couldn’t be happier with them. They feel pretty much like a cloud, and they’re suuuuper lightweight, so they’re a quick go-to for everything from running errands to going on neighborhood walks, to that “I look like I’m going to the gym today” athleisure trend that we all know + lovelovelove. 😉 I also really like the fit; they go on different than typical sneakers. The top hugs your foot (there’s no tongue to the shoe), so it’s a really snug, comfy wear. AN AND AND they’re on sale for $69. #booyah
#GIRLBOSS – I know I’m late to hop on the #GIRLBOSS bandwagon, but…SO worth it. I had started it, but read most/finished it on my flight to Texas earlier this month. #GIRLBOSS is the New York Times Bestseller by Sophia Amoruso, the bold, ballsy Founder and Executive Chairman of Nasty Gal. Even tho Nasty Gal filed for bankruptcy now, the book’s lessons and inspirational tidbits are still so important and ring so true. Sophia’s writing style is easy and compelling, and her advice is particularly relevant to anyone looking to change their career status in some way, be that into a field, up a ladder, across a department, etc. She’s a literal #GIRLBOSS full of golden nuggets of wisdom. And there are just so many quotables and tweetables inside, you’ll find yourself re-reading with a highlighter and jotting down notes to go on your corkboard or taped to the wall.
Have you tried any of the things I love? And what links did you love this month, too?
That, plus the playlist. Y’all. Wouldja wanna see playlists included in these roundups, too? It’s like an everything-and-anything-I’ve-loveloveloved-this-month sorta thing, and I’m kinda sorta really diggin’ it myself. You?
Also, I’m always on the hunt for more links + things I love. If you’ve got any good links that you’ve found, or products you’e tried recently and would recommend, I would lovelovelove to hear ’em!
Cheers to an awesome week!
