Happy holy week! Easter is this. week. y’all. And just yesterday, Santa Claus was coming down the chimney with his Sephora bags…
This past weekend, J and I had an overnight Harry Potter-thon double date, followed by Palm Sunday church + brunch. And now, my favorite relevant quote: It’s mimOsa, not mimosA. 😉 This week is going to be one for the books for us both in terms of busy-ness, but I’m tryna make it one of holiness, too. Easter is a big deal for waaaaay more reasons than restocking my chocolate stash, so FYI I’ll be putting up an extra post before Friday since Good Friday will be offline for me. Anyhoo. Anyone else find it a bit difficult to find good family-appropriate and/or church-appropriate dresses for Easter this year? I was scouring the interwebs and was unfortunately not-so-surprised at this point how much was either showing too much skin for grandma’s dinner table, or just so dang expensive. Ain’t nobody got time for that. So, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite *appropriate* Easter dresses that will still arrive in time for the weekend, all under $40.
I’m stoked cos it’s *finally* getting warm in Philadelphia, so I might actually be able to wear my favorite dress this season for the occasion. Bless up. It’s currently out of stock (it sold out FAST…can ya see why?), but I’m thinking it’s going to be back in stock soon since it was so stinkin’ popular! Cross yo’ fingers…
Periwinkle floral dress (and here, in a romper here, and in a top here) // Bow mules (also come in black, and were just re-stocked cos they’re INSANELY popular and keep selling out! I wear these constantly anymore – they’re truly the comfiest things ever, they’re the most beautiful leather, and I literally got some wine on ’em (story of my life) and it wiped right off. Not saying they’re wine-proof, but… 😉 ) // Bucket bag c/o (comes in other colors, and made SO WELL. I have a buncha bags from this designer and they’re really bombdotcom.) // Kendra Scott Earrings c/o // Kate Spade Watch (on SUPER sale!!! This was a gift from J and is my go-to for everyday. It’s just so dang *classic* and matches everything!)
We talked a little bit about this on Instagram, but sometimes ya see a piece ya just loveloveLOVE and you’ve gotta go for it! I spent a little more than I typically would on this periwinkle/lavender floral number, but it was really lovelovelove at first sight (and a perfect Easter dress). And it apparently was for a lotta people too, cos it sold out like hotcakes. Same goes for my bow mules. HOW CUTE ARE THESE?!?! I basically closed my eyes and hit *add to cart* so fast I couldn’t second guess myself, and just prayed they’d be worth it. Turns out…they’re so stinkin’ worth it.
First off, they’re the most comfortable things to have ever graced my feet. An overstatement? Maybe. Untrue? Absolutely not.
Second, they make any outfit look instantly cute. Seriously. Try it.
Third, the bow. THE BOW THO. I swear I could be Kate Spade’s live-in ambassador because the girl gets mah heart to a T. Way cute.
Fourth, they’re blush. If you have eyes, you’ve probably noticed that blush is v. fetch right now.
Fifth, they’re mules. One of spring’s hottest trends. But trends aside, they’re also easy on and off, which is great for addict shoe shoppers like me who don’t have time to be stressing about laces and buckles and ish in the shoe department. Shoe shopping is serious business. Easy on and off required.
Sixth, they also come in black. So if/when blush goes outta style (which it won’t, because it’s the prettiest pastel out there), there’s always black. Black is always in style.
Seventh, they’re $69, which is actually not outrageous at all for a pair of leather shoes that you’ll be wearing every day for at least one, but probably two, and in my case as-many-as-they’ll-fit seasons. 😉
When it comes to Easter dresses, you ideally want something that’s ultra pretty + feminine, spring-ready, and also versatile enough to wear from church to family dinner. Ain’t nobody got time to change 5 times! For some “appropriate” options, I look for balance. Showing more skin up top? Opt for more fabric on bottom. Tighter on the bottom? Go looser on the top. It’s an easy method to ensure that you’re comfortable and cute without sacrificing your personal style at all for a family-friendly holiday. The six dresses I pulled are all incorporating some sorta spring trend, be that a lace, cutouts, florals, the whole nine yards, and they’re ALL *under* $40.
How cute is the scalloped hem at the top?? I lovelovelove this option because it’s a.) floral, b.) sexier without being sleazy. With the length, you can wear to family dinner, but the snugger fit will show off your spring workout regimen. Or, the ham and sweets you’ll be devouring. 😉 Did I mention it’s $15?
This is one of faves. It comes in pink AND yellow, so it basically *screams* CUR branding…ha! THe pink is on sale for $12 and the yellow for $15. How pretty is that cutout hemline?! I’d order a size up personally just to ensure the cutouts don’t inch too far up, if ya catch mah drift. 😉
Do you know what you’re wearing for Easter yet?
