TGIF. Very excited that it’s time for another unveiling as our house becomes a home, room by room! ICYMI, J and I are getting married in T-minus 8 days (!!!), and I’ve been showing y’all the lay of the land of our new house in a fun lil’ series of room reveals. Today, we’re playing a game of “spot the traveling donuts” in our kitchen and dining room! Both spaces are very active hubs for us, so in reality, they’re never this clean. 😉 In the spirit of jumping right into the house tour and straight to happy hour, welcome to our kitchen and dining room!

I love how warm and cozy our kitchen feels. All it needs is the perpetual smell of coffee brewing or cookies baking and I’d never leave! A few fun things to point out for ya: the cake stand. I saw this tip on Pinterest probs, and it’s such an aesthetic gamechanger for candle hoarders (*guilty*) everywhere. I grabbed one at Target in the dollar section, and it allows you to just elevate a few of your favorites above everything else, giving this cool illuminated vibe when they’re all lit while preventing fires from anything on the same level. Pick out a few scents that jive together (or just light a few at a time, selectively) and you’ve got a beautiful, sweet-smellin’ scent combination.
Another use for a cake stand? Your dish soap/scrubbing brushes! We temporarily moved ours from that location, but I’m going to put one back at the sink soon. Putting your dish soap and sponge or brush on it helps keep your sink area dry and clean, because the only surface you have to worry about then is the cake stand surface! It’s convenient and hygienic – a winning combo.
This print by the candle cake stand is one of my favorites, and it’s from a *ridiculously* cute Etsy shop called Made Au Gold. I have a few prints from here that you’ll see pop up in various room reveals, and I’m constantly finding more that I lovelovelove! J and I love being that cheesy couple who blasts music and dances in the kitchen while cooking together, so haters gonna hate, but this kitchen is for dancing. 😉
Another decor idea: empty wine bottles! We had saved a bunch of significant bottles (from special dates, winery trips, etc), cleaned them out, and lined them up behind the sink. Whenever I do a Costco run and pick up roses (they sell 2 bouquets for $16-17 – unreal!), each wine bottles gets one rose. It creates such a pretty effect!
I’m such a fan of this cute lil’ white pineapple jar next to our stove. We keep random things in there like gum, mints, etc., but it’s just a fun pop on the countertop. And it works in any room, really! Mine is from Swoozies (code ROSE-20 to save 20% on your whole order!), but other cute ones for you pineapple lovers are linked in the widget below.
Our spoon holder is from Target (as are our dishware!), and the “Eat, Drink, & Be Thankful” towel is from Burlington. We lovelovelove fall and Thanksgiving, so goshdarnit we’re decking the halls already.
All of my Snapchat friends know the coffee corner well. 😉 I linked some of my favorite mugs in the widget below – I’m 100% a mug hoarder and 0% ashamed of it. The entirety of cabinet space above the Keurig is mugs, coffees, and teas – it’s so much!
A fun idea for any of y’all in relationships: get magnets of each location that you travel to together as souvenirs! I was never a huge souvenir gal, because they take up space and don’t exactly match decor well. But especially having a nice big fridge now, J and I lovelovelove picking out a magnet together when we travel as our little piece of branded memorabilia from the location. Tip: It has to say the name of the location on it, or the name of where you stayed – something significant to help you remember the trip as a whole! We accidentally have two Wyoming buffalos from when we traveled for Taylor’s wedding – I couldn’t find the original in my bag, so we hurried to buy another since Lord knows we won’t be back in the Wild Wild West anytime soon…haha! Next to add to the fridge: Mexico (honeymoon), Tennessee (Nina’s wedding – I’m a bridesmaid!), San Antonio (his work), and California (my work!).
Also on the fridge: this Mango Slushtini recipe. I would be SUCH a terrible person if I didn’t share this with you, cos I swear it’s going to be your favorite thing about the weekend. Brace yo’selves. Super simple:
- 2 1/4 cups frozen mango chunks
- 6 oz. vodka
- 1 tbsp. coconut extract
- 3 cups crushed ice
Makes 6 servings, and each serving is about 120 calories. I first had this little concoction at a PR event in New York, and I snagged the recipe because it’s SO DANG GOOD. Super refreshing and light and delish, almost like a mango smoothie with a little booze. 😉
This wall piece tho. Holy schmokes, it’s one of my favorite things in the whole dang house! My mom and aunt bought this as a shower gift, and it’s so meaningful to J and I. The lyrics are from Hillsong’s “Oceans,” which is one of my all-time favorite songs ever and one that has gotten me through a lot of hard moments. So to have that be the centerpiece of our dining room is just really special! It’s from this Etsy shop, where I’m basically in love with every single thing. I’m already eyeing up a few pieces to add one to an open wall – stay tuned!
Lovelovelove fresh flowers on the table – always a must. And donuts…I mean, obvi. The collage peeking out on this other wall above is a 10-picture basic black frame from Burlington that we put our engagement photos in!
What do you think about our kitchen and dining room? Do you have a favorite element?
I’d lovelovelove to hear your opinion, as always. Leave it in a comment below, + let me know if you have specific home tidbits that would be helpful for you to hear about/see in your own house planning and decorating and all that good stuff!
