Pop the bubbly – it’s 2016! Holy schmokes, I’m in shock. This year is going to be haaaaaaUGE. I’ll be graduating from Wharton at UPenn, launching a business, buying a home and getting married all in the same year. Um, what. More on all of the above to come to these rosy parts one at a time, because I’m making a vow to be a bit more personal and let y’all into some fun details throughout the multiple journeys ahead. Cool? Cool.
For newbies, Un-Resolutions are simply the list of things you vow to not change in the New Year. Things you recognize as being really important parts of you, or pivotal people, or inspiring things that you need to keep around. I love it, because often I feel New Year’s Resolutions are just a big list of what we want to change about ourselves – what we’re unhappy with in the moment. But since we’re not the greatest at goal-setting, they end up being dropped by Valentine’s Day as we lay around vowing for the next year to be “our year.”
I, for example, made one measly “resolution” this year – to drink my entire cup of morning coffee in one sitting, since I always end up in hardcore work mode and neglect to drink it all before it gets cold.
Already messed that one up, as I sit here with cold coffee. HA! Un-Resolutions it is.
1.) My faith. I just want it to grow and grow and grow in Jesus and Mary and the entire crew up in heaven. When you’ve got faith of what’s to come, I feel like it really drives your whole being – it becomes your purpose. It’s so much bigger than yourself. And I want to take it all up a notch this year, setting aside specific time to pray and prioritize reading the Bible and daily devotionals and really bringing it to the forefront of my lifestyle.
2.) My dream-big mentality. I’ll admit it: I bit off more than I can chew. Basically, always. I get the greatest ideas in the shower, and then a week later I’m trying to make 34 of them happen. It’s a blessing and a curse, I guess, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. This year, I’m promising to myself (and my accountability partners) to dream big, then dream a little bit bigger, then set some specific, solid goals and start developing plans and things. It’s a dream-big kinda year, and then it’s a make-it-happen-big kinda year, too.
3.) These people. Taylor, Melanie, Molly, Katy, Allison, Nina, Tiffany, Dani, Vid, Alex, Sarah, Monica, John, Derek, Roopa, Ana, Johnny, Ashten, Ang, Morgan, Erika…the list goes on. Somehow or another, you’ve played a role in changing my life. I am so so (so) grateful for you. And I love you. And I hope you always know that.
4.) My willingness to be wrong. I’ve always been a pretty stubborn person with certain things. But I’d say I’m pretty darn good at admitting when I’m wrong (and apologizing when necessary) and moving forward. I really believe that being able to recognize when you’re a bit off is just as important (if not moreso sometimes) as being right, so long as you’re able to take out the lesson and better the situation and yourself because of it.
5.) A strong
obsession with love for flavored coffee, bold lipstick, red wine, dark chocolate, early workouts, killer branding, and inspirational quotes. My favorite things are on hyperdrive for 2016, and I’m embracing it all full-force. If you’ve got a surplus of any of the above, send my way. I’ll send you something back as a big fat THANK YOU.
6.) My insane love for this guy. 2016 is going to be a massive year for us, with moving and getting hitched and all. Looking back on the past few years of our life together, I really wouldn’t change a thing. This year, I want to just be increasingly supportive and loving and domestic (haha!) and become the best wife for him.
7.) My desire to help you take your own life to the next level. Man oh man, do I want to provide value for you. This whole blog has become a launching pad for me that just fuels my inner drive to inspire and help the world on a ridiculously personal level and big scale. With the upcoming launches I’ve got on the backburner, I’m so confident that I can introduce new strategies to you that will seriously transform your own business (and blog, if you’ve got one!). I accidentally went into a whole branding shebang before realizing it was a blog post (read: series) in and of itself, so I’ll save that for another day. Instead here’s a super friendly reminder you that if one of your Resolutions is to better your brand and business for now and forever, book a (free!) discovery call with me to see if I might be able to give you the strategies, goodness, and support you need to do it all. You fabulous overachiever you.
