YO YO YO, friends! What’s crackalackin’? Happy Thursday. What a week. IDK what it is, but everything has just been on *hyperspeed* lately. The week has felt long + short all at the same time, and I’m just tryna sit down for a hot sec to finish my coffee before it’s cold (thank the Lord for my ember mug, bless up). There are just so many trips, projects, + things on the calendar, and I’m really struggling at this point to keep it all organized + on track. Our Gender Reveal party for friends/family is happening this weekend, too, so it’s a straight up crazy train through, like, October. LAWDY. Anyhoo.
It’s been a hot sec since we’ve shared 1 Thing, 3 Ways, so it was high time we bring this bad boy back for a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale edition or two, since ’tis the season. 😉 ICYMI…a big sale is happening. The biggest sale of the summer, basically. More on that here. But since the sale is happening now + is full of pieces that work for now AND later (especially for fall, since most of the sale IS fall items), I’ve been all about mixing + matching looks with some of the most versatile picks.
Enter, this plaid shirt.
IDK HOW I had gone through falls of the past without a plaid shirt in my closet. I mean, lumberjack chic is like THE #1 look for PSL season. So how I missed this is beyond me. BUT. I am missing it no more – I picked up this one in the NSale and figured it’ll be something I can transition with as le bump grows, too. 🙂 A few things to note about this plaid shirt…
- It’s super soft. Like, SO soft. A true comfy AF piece. (Also doesn’t wrinkle, which is HELLA important if you’re like me and just say no to ironing).
- It runs a bit small (I think). I got a Medium because I wanted it to be a bit oversized, so that it’s oversized now for layering/twisting/etc., and justright in a few months when the bumpity bump is bigger.
- It’s on sale for $31.90. A STEAL. Especially since this can/will be on repeat all. season. long.
- Also comes in blue, red, + yellow plaid. All winners in my book – I just lovelovelove the black/white for the versatility, since I can put any cardigan and its mother overtop and play with color in the rest of my look.
SO. Let’s begin.
Plaid Shirt (On sale for $31.90! Runs small – I’m wearing a M to intentionally have it a bit more oversized + to accommodate the bump 😉 ) // Topshop cardigan (Selling out SO FAST!!!) // BP jeans (SUCH good denim – I talked allll about ’em here + here! They feel designer, but are on sale for $42!!!! Runs TTS) // White flats (These are my top selling item from y’all so far for the whole NSale – I think you lovelovelove ’em as much as I do! SO comfy + fabulous + TTS. More on ’em here!) // Pearl necklace (c/o) // Pink liquid lipstick (It’s drugstore – only $6!)
This look is gonna be on repeat all. fall. long. It’s so blissfully simple, too, so it’s insanely easy to recreate.
Step 1: Put on plaid shirt.
Step 2: Put on jeans.
Step 3: Add your favorite cardigan.
Step 4: Shoes. I went with mules, but booties would do the trick, too.
AND VOILA. It’s like everyone’s favorite fall uniform, and it works for good reason. The layers are especially great in transitioning seasons, too, since that top cardi layer can go on/off as need be. Special shoutout to these jeans AND these mules…
First up, the jeans. They’re on sale for $42 (bless), and they’re GOOD. I grabbed ’em when I saw someone say they looked/felt designer. And you guys know I’m all about a good designer lookalike…so of course I had to see what the buzz was all about. And YUP. They fit justright, they’re a really flattering wash – they’re just winners. And for under $50. And the people said amen.
Then, these mules. They’re the top seller from you guys right now – so I think you lovelovelove ’em almost as much as I do! 😉 They’re SO wearable + walkable since they fit snugly against your foot. And they come in 4 colors – white, black, rust, + leopard. I bought white, black…and leopard. Because I have a problem. And I own that. 😉
Fully expected to return one or two…but when the shoe fits, buy it in every color. Yeah? Yeah. They’re goodies.
Plaid Shirt (On sale for $31.90! Runs small – I’m wearing a M to intentionally have it a bit more oversized + to accommodate the bump 😉 ) // BlankNYC Suede Miniskirt (SUCH a popular item – runs TTS!) // Steve Madden over-the-knee boots (Lovelovelove a good OTK boot – these stay put where they should + run TTS!) // Pearl necklace (c/o) // Pink liquid lipstick (It’s drugstore – only $6!)
If ya wanna look/feel like your legs are a mile long, consider this how-to-have-mile-long-legs-101. This suede miniskirt was a huge hit in last year’s sale, so it’s no surprise that it’s back at it this year…and almost sold out again. It’s just that good, yo! I sized up *one* just to fit over my bump, so stay TTS if you’re not preggers like me. Ha! I’m wearing it high on my waist, too, which is *also* a good tactic for stretching out your look.
Good over-the-knee boots are the next essential here – and these Steve Maddens are great since they STAY IN PLACE, BLESS THE LORD. One of my biggest pet peeves of style is when boots don’t stay where they’re supposed to stay. Ain’t nobody got time to constantly fidget + fix boots.
Lastly, tie up the shirt! I left the last 2-3 buttons unbottoned and knotted the ends together, so that it rested right near where the waistband of the skirt was laying. And since that was on my actual waist (versus hips), my legs ended up looking sooooo muuuuuuch looooooonger than they actually are. It’s all a trick o’ the eye, folks. Trick o’ the eye. 😉
Plaid Shirt (On sale for $31.90! Runs small – I’m wearing a M to intentionally have it a bit more oversized + to accommodate the bump 😉 ) // Lush Ribbed Dress (On sale for $29.90 – probably my FAVORITE NSale purchase so far! The most versatile, flattering dress. I bought in both colors – runs TTS, so I’m wearing S!) // Vince Camuto booties (Such a good, versatile bootie, and comfy AF for being on your feet all day! Runs TTS + comes in 3 colors) // Pearl necklace (c/o) // Pink liquid lipstick (It’s drugstore – only $6!)
DING DING DING, we have a winner!
This dress is probably my *favorite* purchase of the NSale thus far. It’s on sale for $29.90. It fits like a charm. It’s flattering AF. It’s comfy AF. It hits right above your knee, so it doesn’t ride up when you’re walking/moving around, even tho it’s bodycon in nature. It’s ribbed, so it doesn’t show lines underneath (even tho it’s form fitting). It layers perfectly with ANYTHING – cardigans, suede jackets, shirts overtop. It’s something I’ve been wearing already now, but fully plan on wearing ALLLLLLL through the next season. And I got it in two colors, so it won’t get old. 😉
There are so many easy pairings with this plaid shirt, too, making it even that much more wearable: tie around your waist, wear as a shirt open in the front, wear fully buttoned overtop (so the dress is like a skirt underneath). Just a total winner winner chicken dinner.
How do you plan on wearing a plaid shirt for fall? Have you grabbed this one yet from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
I’d lovelovelove to know – it just feels like the limit does not exist here, folks. The limit does not exist.
