“Actually, I can.”

actually, I can

After getting an awesome response from you on how much-needed and much-appreciated some Monday pep talks are, I’m going to making this a semi-regular series, where a fun, empowering, motivational mantra will be shared with you on Mondays where things are looking pretty tired, gloomy and grey. Since it’s now Monday night for me, hopefully this will be a great mantra for resetting after your week’s start and beginning fresh come Tuesday.

Today in Philadelphia, it was tired, gloomy and grey. I’m suffering from a Mexican chili dip hangover (cheers to the fiancĂ© for making a MEAN dip…#perks), and it’s gloomy, grey, and raining in this place that’s supposed to be always sunny. Newsflash: it’s not.

On Friday, I threw a conference at Wharton (along with three other fabulous women) that was in the works for literally a year. The night before, I couldn’t sleep. I was tossing and turning with anxious butterflies – which were moreso just straight-up anxiety – and I was getting angry as I lie in bed counting down on the hours of sleep I’d be getting before the big day. I woke up and just dove right into the day. Amidst minor bumps in the road, the day went fabulously, and I ended it with a springier step and a splash of confidence that comes with a job well done.

In times of self-doubt, we’re our own worst enemy. We’re always told to turn our can’ts into can’s and our dreams into plans, right??? Right. So you know what, voice inside my head?

“Actually, I can.”

I can do it.

I can do anything when I focus and push.

When my goals are realistic but high enough, I can push myself past fear and get to the other side.

The side where I’m calm, cool and collected, and confident in my own abilities and strengths.

Where I’m confident in my shortcomings, too, knowing that it’s a daily journey to better myself and better the world.

I can.

I can, I can, I can.

I can go farther.

I can go faster.

I can dream bigger.

I can believe in myself, really and truly.

I can do more.

I can be more.

I can love more.

I can live more.

I can.

Can you?

What’s your favorite little mantra to get you through tougher times? Leave a comment below, and your quote might end up in a future QOTD series here on le blog. Now I’m off to do laundry and catch up on life. You feel me? I’m sure you do. I’m also sipping tea and watching The Bachelor and cleaning and prepping blog/vlog stuff for the week, because #multitasking. Did you see yesterday’s post?

You CAN do tomorrow. And the next day, and the next. Go conquer it.
