One of the TOP requested types of content for the season from my recent reader survey was for ~dressier~ holiday outfit inspiration for all of the Christmas parties and seasonal shindigs on the calendar. And girlfriend, I GOTCHU. There’s not much I lovelovelove more than playing dress up for the holidays – there’s just something so fun about it, and it feels right to be decked out as much as the halls. 😉 But also in our survey, one of the most commonly-shared pain points of the season boils down to money. Namely, not having enough to go around for ALL THE THINGS pulling at our wallets, from gifts to decor to meals. Oftentimes, we’re so busy buying for everyone on our shopping list that we’re left as an afterthought ourselves. We might pull a #TreatYoSelf for something off of our own Christmas wishlists, but we’re maybe less likely to do the same for a new holiday outfit for that random office party next weekend.
Sound familiar?
Hakuna matata, my friends. Because you can score this ENTIRE LOOK from head-to-toe for under $100.
Let me say it again for the folks in the back.
THIS ENTIRE HOLIDAY OUTFIT IS LESS THAN 100 BUCKS TOTAL.
Really, it’s not even $80. The total comes out to $77.85. So since we’re all working on our holiday budgeting and ain’t nobody got time (or dollars) to waste this season, I wanted to focus on bringing you truly fabulous options that would NOT break the bank. Similarly, options that you could literally copy and paste into your own closet without having to pick and choose between pieces. We’ve all been there – we fall in lovelovelove at first sight with an ensemble before seeing that the top alone is $50+, and then the bottoms are an additional $100, and don’t even get me started on the shoes…before we know it, it’s $500 for one new look, and that’s just not realistic for many of us.
So here we are – a holiday outfit that is mix-and-matchable to work after the season, as well, that won’t cost you a kidney.
AND, it’s all available for 2-day delivery which I know we’re ALL ABOUT – so it can be on your doorstep by hump day.
First up, I. Am. OBSESSED. As someone with a smaller chest, it can be SO hard for me to find tops that feel sexier without just baring all skin up top (with no cleavage – ha!). This bodysuit does it for me. It’s a deeper V without just being revealing, which I lovelovelove. The draping effect is flattering, and the sheen makes it holiday-friendly – although it would totally work outside of the Christmas season, as well. And ! A true steal. My mom was RAVING about it when she saw it. There is one lonestar poor review of it online, seemingly from someone larger-chested who wasn’t a fan of how it lay on her since there isn’t a snap closure or anything to prevent separation of the pieces. Obviously I can’t speak to that personally – all I know for certain is how it fit/feels on me. And if the top starts to separate too much for your liking depending on your chest size, I recommend just inside-out safety pinning it where you want it to stay, because it would be totally hidden! So from my vantage point, this is a must-have top for the season. And the fact that it’s a bodysuit makes it all the better in my eyes, because I lovelovelove not having to worry about something untucking or coming up – it’s just effortless. Would also pair well with your fave high-waisted denim (this is my current repeat pair, also from Walmart – only $18!!!). It comes in a metallic gold, too, if you want even more holiday pizazz!
Next, . I don’t think it’s a secret how much your girl loveloveloves a good pleated skirt. I’ve been wearing them since the dawn of CUR and beyond – they feel fun, flirty, and feminine, and I’m all about it. This one in particular is neat, I think, because it’s different than any others in my closet. The pleats are tinier, so it’s got more of a shimmer/shine, where it almost has a tinsel-ish look to it! Definitely a worthwhile holiday piece – especially since it’s an elastic waistband, which we all lovelovelove so dearly come dinnertime. 😉 Also comes in black + charcoal. Runs TTS, and not even 25 bucks!
Lastly, . Oh how I lovelovelove thee. I’ve been on the hunt for good basic black heels for awhile now, but my struggle is always that I can’t wear “regular” pumps. I walk right out of them – they could be too small, too big, or just right and my foot still just comes right out. So anytime I’m doing heels with very few exceptions, there needs to be SOME way for them to be secured to my foot lest they just come right off – ha! The ankle strap on these does that for me. But the best part? They still look dainty.
My struggle in needing straps is sometimes losing the effect that a dainty pair of heels can bring. And obviously, you don’t always want and/or need a chunkier, edgier, or strappier look – sometimes a girl just wants a classic little pump! These look + feel classic. The heel is a perfect height. They work with ANYTHING – skirts, dresses, pants, the works. Really, I wish they came in more colors because girlfriend was about to STOCK UP. And…wait for it…they’re on sale for not even $20. UNREAL I tell ya! Definitely a worthwhile buy if you’ve also been on the hunt for heels, be they basic black pumps for anytime wear or a pair for the holiday season. These do it all!
Now before hopping offline to throw up more Christmas decorations, I wanted to publicly A this follower Q here for anyone who might’ve been thinking similar thoughts!
GREAT QUESTION, GIRLFRIEND. And yes, I have quite a few tips to help in this department!
First off, when in doubt, you can always a.) use my blogged + shared recommendations as guides to what to buy, since I purchase + test more things than I actually end up sharing to see what’s truly worth it for you, and/or b.) reach out to ask my thoughts! I’m admittedly a total fabric/ingredient junky and like to know behind-the-scenes of pretty much anything, which is how I end up finding “lookalikes” for other products – it’s all about the actual makeup of something for the truest test! But there’s nothing I lovelovelove more than helping you find new favorite things, so I’m ALWAYS here to help discern what’s worth your money versus what’s a pass.
ANYWAYS.
Walmart’s website is continually revamped it seems, and right now is a *fabulous* time to shop it because they’ve updated a few sections for the holidays. I recommend starting with the bold-faced sub-menus under “Clothing, Shoes & Accessories” header. Namely, , , , + ! Beyond that, especially for non-seasonal shopping, the section will show you all of the more prestigious name brands that Walmart partners with for their website (like Lord & Taylor, Calvin Klein – even Karl Lagerfield!), and then Featured Brands will show you other popular names that Walmart’s website carries, including some of their best in-house names (like Time and Tru). That’s my own personal favorite section to shop for affordable Walmart-focused content for you! (Note: that’s not a clickable separate section; instead, the brands are listed below it, which you can see in this screenshot!)
I most frequently scour Women’s new arrivals, as well as bestsellers that come back in stock, since they’re always coming out with even better products and since bestsellers that are re-stocked often have fabulous reviews from others who have already purchased!
Thoughts on this classic, shiny holiday outfit? What other kinds of holidays outfits would you like to see styled soon?
MORE TO COME. STAY TUNED. 😉
