TGIF, friends! If there’s anything close to being as great as Friday, it’s finding a hella good look for less – so we’re back at it with another edition of one of what is quickly becoming a favorite lil’ series of mine over here: LOOK FOR LESS! Today I’ve got a lookalike for the Charlotte Tilbury , which is thrilling to me – and hopefully you, too. 😉
Not all lookalikes are created equal, and especially with something like makeup – quality counts. We’re not just looking for a cheap color ripoff here, people – we want the real deal in a different tube for a lot less moolah. 😉 I’m STOKED to share today’s look for less with ya, because it’s exactly that! When it comes to something like lipstick – drugstore lippies can get a bit pricy nowadays. When all is said and done, if you’re spending 13 bucks on something from Target and a full-size MAC lipstick is $19 – sometimes it’s better to just spend on the higher quality name brand that has longer staying power. I mean, if you’re having to re-apply your drugstore lipstick 32 times a day and a tube only lasts a month or two, when a lippy from Sephora is lasting you a FEW months because of longer wear, you might end up spending MORE stocking up on your favorite drugstore lipstick than a one-time splurge on a more expensive color.
BUT. Not today.
Because today, I’m sharing one of my FAVORITE looks for less to date: a $7 drugstore alternate for the cult-classic $34 Charlotte Tilbury lipstick shade
This is huge for a few reasons.
1.) Pillow Talk is a POPULAR shade. I mean, it feels like every blogger and her mother rocks it on the reg on Instagram. It’s a gorgeous nude shade that looks great on virtually all skin types, and it’s known for being a really buildable, comfortable wear that lasts a long time (important).
2.) The drugstore lookalike (exact shade linked!) is the dang CLOSEST thing I’ve ever found EVER across all consideration verticals (look, feel, formula, staying power, etc)…for $27 less. (It’s a bit pinkier than Pillow Talk in swatch, but wears nearly identically ON me, just FYI!)
That’s a HUUUUGE savings, and especially since I lovelovelove this drugstore formula, it’s so good to have on hand since you can collect multiple colors for different seasons and call it a day.
So let’s talk about ’em, shall we?
First up, the original Pillow Talk. It’s called a “magical” matte lipstick online, with a buildable, hydrating, long-lasting formula. It’s also said to have “3D glow pigments” inside to help make your lips look fuller + wider. Now, if it really does that or what the heck those “glow pigments” are…beats me. It’s what’s called “Charlotte’s secret ingredient” inside, too: Lipstick Tree extract. Also, has orchid extract inside, to be protective and to soothe your lips for a cashmere finish.
I’ve loveloveloved the original shade + formula myself for years. It looks great, it feels great, it lasts great – really, it’s great. I have the lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss – I lovelovelove it all.
BUT of course, if I can find the look for less and a comparable lookalike – you can bet your bottom dollar I’m gonna do it. 😉 Which brings us to…
THE LOOK FOR LESS. (“Trust your Gut“, not sold in stores!)
Now, this specific lippy is no new news around these rosy parts. I’ve sang its praises time and time again, and HERE I AM back at it because it’s just that good.
To date, I own shades: Keep it Fun, Lead the Way, Trust your Gut, Make it Happen, Hustle in Heels, and Treat Yourself.
But this one is the near-exact match for the Pillow Talk shade!
In terms of color, it’s a pretty darn close match, especially on. It swatches a bit pinkier than Pillow Talk, but I can’t tell a difference when actually wearing! I also own this shade which is slightly more pinky if you prefer that over more nudey-nude, but this one is nearly the same as Pillow Talk.
The formula is creamy and applies like a lip balm, but has this special Lasting Ink technology inside to provide up to 8 hours of wear. It’s a matte finish just like Pillow Talk.
And in doing my research for this post, I was today years old when I learned that the end cap of each tube comes off to reveal a BUILT-IN SHARPENER to keep your lipstick tip pointy if you’d like! I mean WHAT! When it’s brand spankin’ new, it does have a tip, which is really helpful in lining your lips before applying the formula all over. So to be able to keep that up easily is a WIN.
And it’s not even 7 bucks! So for less than a fourth of the price of the real deal, you’ll get the same exact color, pretty dang exact staying power, and really comparable formula/feel. WORTH NOTING: Where I linked it online is the best price I’ve seen ever, so it’s worth picking up there while you’re online shopping – especially since not all drugstores or mass retailers carry all shades. I was ONLY able to get this particular shade online and have yet to find it in store shopping – so FYI!
Have you tried this look-for-less of the Pillow Talk lipstick yet?
