Well THIS has been a loooooong time a-comin’. WOWZA. After 5+ years, I’m finally sharing an everyday makeup routine with ya! AND AND AND, it’s in video form! Woohoo! First thing’s first: Grab a yummy beverage of choice, cos it’s a long one. 🙂 Second thing’s second: Shoutout to my friends at Olay for partnering with me on it! Aaaaaaand what the heck does Olay have to do with makeup, you might be thinking?
I’m glad you asked! 😉
Olay Whips is basically a revolutionary skincare product at the drugstore (remember when we talked about its pre-SPF predecessor last year? Still a fave!). Because it’s not *just* a moisturizer – it’s like a unicorn moisturizer, being a lightweight moisturizer AND makeup primer in one product. Seriously! Bless up. Might sound counterintuitive at first, since moisturizers are thought to be hydrating, maybe with some wetness or residue leftover on your skin after, while primers are thought to be more mattifying. But Olay Whips actually leaves behind virtually *no* residue; it’s formulated with Active Rush Technology designed for instant absorption, so it transforms from cream to liquid on contact with your skin to be absorbed right away! BUT, it still has a more matte finish, so no need to sacrifice that. 🙂 When I visited Olay’s labs in Cinncinati, OH a few months back, I was *floored* at how knowledgeable their kickass team of scientists is (I mean, no surprise there, but SO COOL to see in person!) when it comes to creating really innovative, top-shelf-worthy products. So Whips’ formula is unique in that it’s meant to absorb oils on your skin throughout the day, so you’re left with a dewy (but not oily) finish. The formula is also anti-aging, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and all that jazz that ain’t nobody got time for. And it also actively hydrated for more elasticity, AND it’s got an Amino-Peptide Complex II inside that works to regenerate the cells on the surface of your skin. Sooooo yeah.
So I’m using Olay Whips with SPF as my moisturizer AND primer to kickoff this everyday makeup routine. Beyond that, all of the products I’m using are tried n’ true favorites that I could reach for literally everyday for a pretty darn versatile, easy look.
I know I make the disclaimer only about 32 times, but I am clearly no pro makeup artist over here, peeps. So take it easy on me, wouldja? 😉 Really tho, know that what I do is just what works for me – and you’re MORE than welcome to mix it up + modify to do what works for you!
BUT, before jumping right in, I’ve got a quickie video to share with a lil’ blog test, to showcase how the Active Rush Technology in Olay Whips really works. Because I think it’s HELLA cool to see in action, since it literally leaves no residue behind! The competitor moisturizer we’re testing alongside Whips is also marketed as being lightweight, and it has hyaluronic acid in it (which y’all know I normally lovelovelove in my skincare!), which – while it’s a super hydrating ingredient fosho – doesn’t necessarily lend itself to quick absorption or true layer-ability underneath, say, a face full o’ makeup!
P.S. There is a full BLOOPER REAL at the end of my routine video. Don’t miss it. 😉
Urban Decay’s Naked palette (the Original – may it Rest in Peace. Get it half off right now since it’s being discontinued – so…STOCK UP).
I hope you enjoyed my everyday makeup routine!
