A Festive Holiday Look Under $40

Happy holidays, everybody! This post was actually not on my content calendar until about 7 pm last night. I had thrown on this little festive look because I had picked up a few things on my last Target run, and I wanted to try on something dressier since my other holiday plans will likely involve Christmas PJ’s and buffalo plaid loungewear. 😉 I literally hadn’t washed my hair in a week (thankyou to this dry shampoo for making it not look like a greasy, stringy mess – ha!), and was not intending on turning it into a full-blown blog post, but HERE WE ARE. It’s such an affordable holiday look, I couldn’t NOT share it with you (each piece is under $30!).

This simple red turtleneck is only 10 bucks (!!!) and comes in a few other colors, too. It really completes the pleated skirt outfit. It is pretty thin, so make sure you’re wearing a seamless bra to not have weird lines where you don’t want them (I 100% recommend the Enbliss – my very favorite!). I folded the neck in half since I’m personally not a huge fan of turtlenecks covering my entire neck. So it can work either way! For this specific look, I pulled the turtleneck down as far as possible tucked into the skirt and belted at my belly button, which really helps create the illusion of mile-long legs (anything high waisted can do that for ya – a true Christmas miracle 😉 ).

A good midi skirt is always in style; I lovelovelove a good metallic one for playing dress up! And for under $30, it can’t be beat. Target also has had quite a few other great options – I have my eye on this one next. Make any “basic” outfit feel more festive by just color coordinating with the season! A pop of red, be that on top or bottom, and a great red lip can go a long way in saying cheers to the holiday ahead.

I’ve had these black heels for YEARS – they’re just classic, especially for a pleated skirt outfit. Will never ever go out of style and match literally everything in your closet for any special occasion. Unfortunately I can’t seem to find my EXACT pair since they are a few years old, but it’s such a popular, basic style that so many other retailers + designers have adopted. Mine are Sam Edelman so they’re definitely pricier than Target, but Target has quite a few similar styles! If anything, the Target option with a slightly lower heel is undoubtedly more comfortable since it’s not as high of an arch incline, so that’s hopefully a positive to consider. Ha!

What’s your holiday style this year? Are you dressing up or down? Is a pleated skirt outfit on the horizon?

I’d lovelovelove to know in a comment below – and tell me if you’ve shopped Target’s new stuff yet??? They’re KILLING it lately! Let me know if you recreate this pleated skirt outfit!
