Things to Do Every Sunday for a Peaceful Week

The older I get, the more non-negotiable my Sabbath gets. Sunday sets me up for success throughout the week. I have a list of things I like to do over the weekend to ensure that I'm prepared for a productive and peaceful week! Here are a few ideas for things to add to your list!

1. REST We should be working FROM rest, not FOR it. So, instead of leaving rest until the end as a “reward” for a job well done, it can be best to START from rest, so that you’re actually able to give something your all in a healthy, whole way.

2. REVIEW LAST WEEK What went well? What could’ve gone better? What was overscheduled or not planned well enough?

3. BRAIN DUMP One of my very favorite things to do ANYTIME my brain feels particularly overloaded or overwhelmed. Go to the linked blog post for more on how I brain dump!

4. UNPLUG A phone-free day works WONDERS for your soul. No apps, no social media... one day to be free from your phone.

5. LAUNDRY It's no one's favorite task, but it needs to be done. In my house, we do laundry on Friday so I fold and put it away on Sunday.

6. CLEAN OUT THE FRIDGE Check dates. Re-organize. Wipe down bins and shelves. You’ll be more inspired to eat healthier after freshening up the fridge, too!

7. FRESH AIR + QUALITY TIME WITH THE FAMILY It fuels me up fabulously to get outside and enjoy time with the fam. Lately, we've been taking our dog Lucy to the dog park together!

8. CLEAR OUT YOUR INBOX Get as close to Inbox Zero as you can on Friday so that you don't have things on your mind throughout the weekend.

9. SPEND TIME ON A HOBBY It can be far too common to “never have time” – so MAKE time. Hobbies are 100% worth nurturing. They keep us young and fuel the soul!

10.  READ FROM YOUR READING LIST I got tired of never hitting my reading goal so now I dedicate time for it.

11. CROSS OFF A HOUSE PROJECT We have a running list of house projects both big and small that we’d love to give attention to, and we’ve gotten into the habit of literally scheduling them onto the weekly calendar.

12. GET IN A GREAT WORKOUT! The weekend is a GREAT time to do a total, full body routine that leaves you feeling sore and strong.

13. PRAY + REFLECT Get quiet and take time to turn inward + upward. I think we can become so frenzied during the week, we risk forgetting to pray altogether, or neglecting time with the Lord for other earthly past times. Only God can truly fill our cup.

14. SELF-CARE Wash hair, self-tan, shave, exfoliate, dermaplane, face mask, hair mask, whiten teeth, etc. Take care of your body and do things that take a little more time!

15. PLAN NEXT WEEK 1. What's on the schedule? 2. Prioritize tasks: what MUST happen, what would you LIKE to happen, and what is ultimately movable? 3. Outfit plan: check the weather app and plan accordingly! 4. Meal prep (+ pick up any groceries) 5. Check in financially: pay off debt, plan out your budget.

16. ORGANIZE YOUR SPACE A 10-minute tidy works WONDERS on both your space AND your brain! Set a timer for ten minutes and just pick up anything/everything that’s not where it belongs.

17. MONDAY'S TO-DO LIST Plan ahead so that you're ready to start the day on Monday. Instead of taking time to plan your day, you can get started right away!
