Aaaaand we’re back (finally) with another highly requested edition of LOOK FOR LESS – although today, I guess it’s moreso feel for less? We’re talkin’ all about the ridiculously popular, bestselling Barefoot Dreams blanket – so IYKYK. 😉 It’s a truly dreamy feeling blanket that makes the best gift – for your mom, your best friend, or yourself. Because treat yo’self.
Also wanted to share how to wash Barefoot Dreams Blankets – or at least, how I wash mine (I’m no laundry pro so it’s not an exact science, but it’s what’s worked best for me thus far!).
THE ORIGINAL Barefoot Dreams Blanket:
The original is 54″ x 72″. It’s a squishy soft blanket that you know to touch – although there ARE two different variations to Barefoot Dreams products. One is the classic “buttery” soft fabric that many of their Lite cardigans are made from (like these!), while the other is the fluffier soft feel of the blankets (and robes like this one!). The blankets are this ultra-soft microfiber that every single soul enjoys. Truly. I mean, the obsession in our house started when I got mine…then Jamie wanted his one. Then Olivia needed one. And here we are in Blanket Town with enough to keep the entire population cozy and snuggly all season long.
At $180, this one obviously ain’t cheap. Is it worth it? Yes…BUT there ARE great alternatives to get a verrrrrry similar look (+ feel) for less. Hence, this post. 😉 Let’s dig into it…
HOW IT WASHES:
So great news – Barefoot Dreams blankets ARE machine washable. They’re listed as such and just instruct to tumble dry. I wash ALL OF THESE BLANKETS on the delicate cycle and tumble dry. I’d say neither of my “real” BD blankets are *quite* as soft now as when I first got them…but I’d also say that would be expected since they’re a few years old at this point and used every single day.
I’ve been using this detergent + this scent-booster (my fave OMG), and then I always use some wool dryer balls with a few drops of essential oils in the dryer to tumble!
This is the blanket of all blankets. We actually lovelovelove this one even MORE than the original Barefoot Dreams blanket, all things considered. It feels a bit thicker…and costs literally $160 less. In a feel-test of all rumored Barefoot Dreams blanket dupes, I tasked my mom with picking out my two real Barefoot Dreams blankets from the mix…she picked this one. Mind you, she’s been to my house only a thousand times before, has snuggled up with the real deal – and she still thought this $20 blanket from Sam’s Club was the $180 one.
I bought one, then bought two more for our house and three more for gifts. So the lesson here is: treat yo’self then treat ALL YO’ FRIENDS because it’s one of the most fabulous blankets I’ve found!
ADDENDUM: It’s currently sold out. I mean, it’s so dang fabulous, I had no doubt it would.
I also have this $10 Sam’s Club blanket – it’s not a Barefoot Dreams blanket dupe, BUT it’s still a lovely lightweight blanket, a great size, and obviously a great price.
HOW IT WASHES:
So far so good – it’s softer than the real deal. Fingers crossed for a fast restock…we the people need all the blankets.
Thought it’s obviously a bit pricier than the Sam’s Club blanket, it’s still less than the BD – and it’s another great dupe. Super comparable, in my opinion! Like really…a part of me suspected it was actually the same blanket. Its size is 50″ x 70″ so it’s a BIT smaller than the OG Barefoot Dreams – but honestly, if it weren’t for the slight size differential, I’d have thought they were the same exact thing, just with two different labels.
Normally priced at $120, but currently on sale for $57!!!!
HOW IT WASHES:
Totally fine – still just as soft as when I bought it!
This one feels a BIT like a “what I thought I was buying vs. what really came” meme that you often see when Amazon buyers steal imagery for listings and ship something a bit…different. Does it look like a real Barefoot Dreams blanket? Yes. Does it feel like one? …mmm not so much. It’s soft, yes, but it’s noticeably thinner. Definitely not a “dupe” and much more an attempt at getting some sales that would’ve otherwise went for the more expensive option. It’s also smaller than the Sam’s Club blanket.
Granted, it’s still a nice blanket. But is it worth $70? I don’t think so.
HOW IT WASHES:
No pulls or runs and feels comparable to when first purchased, but again, not the softest/fluffiest/thickest of the bunch.
It’s on the smaller side comparatively speaking (50″x60″), but the same lovely cloud-soft feel. A bit different since it’s only available in solid colors – but nice if you’re trying to match decor accordingly.
Normally $49, but currently ON SALE for $39!!
HOW IT WASHES:
No complaints yet!
Cupcakes & Cashmere from TJMaxx
I’m including this one since I have it and you may get lucky finding it in store, but from what I’ve found (or rather, not found), it’s unavailable online. 🙁 It’s another super soft option that feels similar at surface value, but it’s again a bit thinner + smaller. Not as thin as the Amazon blanket, but not as thick as the Barefoot Dreams. I just remember paying MAYBE $20 for it, so for an affordable alternative – it’s a goodie!
