Instead of one motivational mantra today to get you geared up for the week ahead, I figured something even better was in order: a whole slue of ’em.
And better yet? A slue of ’em from the best book around: 19 Verses on Anxiety and Stress.
It’s been trial-and-error in my own journey to overcome anxiety with what works and what’s…not so effective. The one thing that remains actually *helpful* time and time again is turning to God and surrendering my worries, fears, and stresses to Him. Seriously, it works. So I wanted to share a whole lot of scripture that I would get tattooed all over my body if I could still sustain a job. (Instead I’ll settle for lots of inspirational notebooks and cute framed prints. Send ’em my way!)
Psalm 34:17 //Â “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.”
John 16:33 //Â “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Psalm 46:10 //Â “Be still and know that I am God.”
Psalm 32:8 //Â “The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”
Isaiah 58:11 //Â “The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.”
Matthew 6:27 //Â “And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”
Psalm 56:3 // “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Isaiah 30:21 //Â “Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left.”
Matthew 6:34 //Â “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.”
Romans 8:18 //Â “The pain that you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that’s coming.”
Psalm 34:4 //Â “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
Matthew 10:19-20 // “When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”
Philippians 4:19 //Â “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Psalm 46:1 // “God is our refuge and strength, and ever-present help in trouble.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 //Â “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 //Â “Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way. Â The Lord be with all of you.”
Isaiah 26:3 //Â “You will keep Him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because He trusts in You.”
Psalm 55:22 //Â “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.”
AND perhaps my all-time favorite (if it’s even possible to pick just one):
Philippians 4:6-7 //Â “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
