If you, too, are switching seasons with everyone from your closet to your color palettes right about now, we’re in it together. Oftentimes, I find myself swapping products in these weird transitional periods, too, because changes in temperature + humidity can do a number on my skin and hair, too. While we often remember to stock up on super hydrating, rich body products leading up to winter, I’ve found it can be just as important + helpful to be well-stocked for spring to maintain moisture. Especially since I start self-tanning more this time of year, too, dry patches can be more noticeable – and ain’t nobody got time. Today I’m sharing some of the best body butter and moisturizers I’ve used over the years that I re-purchase regularly and wholeheartedly recommend. 🙂
P.S. With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I think a great lotion or body product makes a *perfect* gift for her – an affordable luxury that she’ll get lots of use out of and feel fabulous from using!
I first tried this stuff on a whim after getting it in a FabFitFun box. A few followers over on Instagram said it’s “the absolute best ever,” so I gave it a go – and they weren’t kidding. It’s really lightweight, yet rich and not greasy. Quick to absorb, with longlasting moisture – and it smells absolutely fabulous. “Souffle” is a really apropo word for its texture since it’s fluffier than your typical lotion, but not as rich as a butter.
It’s noted as being suitable for sensitive skin + particularly good for dry skin, so if that’s you – treat yo’self.
One of the best body butter products I’ve tried ever – and from the drugstore! It’s a RICH formula, but still not-greasy and quick to absorb – not sticky or heavy on the skin. The vanille cashmere scent is divine – it’s soft, warm, and cozy. Good for any day, but especially good for fall time if the cozy caramelly-vanilla vibe is your jam that time of year.
The formula is clean, sustainable, and all-natural, with 7 nourishing oils + butters like shea butter and shea oil. It’s also paraben, phthalate, and gluten free, vegan, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and PETA certified.
This stuff is a drugstore dupe to the $40+ Brazilian Bum Bum Cream – and it’s LEGIT, from the feel to the smell. But it’s a FRACTION of the price, especially given the size differences in packaging! It smells *identical* to the Sol de Janeiro counterpart – which makes sense given that most of the key ingredients in each are the same: Cupuaçu butter to help restore elasticity, guarana to help smooth, pistachio oil to provide vitamin E for nourishment, and natural shea butter to deeply moisturizer and soften.
The most unique thing about this particular best body butter of the bunch is its firming qualities to help tighten + smooth skin in time (which is part of what made the Brazilian Bum Bum cream so popular – it was always promoted as a booty-tightener! Ha!).
It’s quick to absorb and non-greasy (clearly something in common with any hydrator to make the best body butter list!), and has a HINT of shimmer – but it’s so subtle, you could miss it.
Smells fabulous with notes of pistachio, almond, golden amber, and sandalwood…a really lovely-but-light scent. Comparatively, the Brazilian Bum Bum cream’s key scent notes are vanilla, salted caramel, and pistachio, so they’re reaaaaally similar in scent with many of the same key ingredients in their respective formulas, too.
I’ve lovelovelove this rich cream – it’s been on my best body butter list for YEARS. The Wish scent specifically is my favorite; it’s listed as being “a magical blend of sparkling light florals, white tea, and bergamot.” Also formulated with coconut, jojoba, and vitamin E oils for optimum moisturization, it feel AND smells luxurious without breaking the bank.
Glow for a Cause is a cool brand since they donate some product proceeds to various charities and good causes, like Cowgirls vs. Cancer, the Boston Firefighter’s Burn Foundation, PRANA Run animal protection nonprofit, + more.
Product is made in the USA, vegan, and free from parabens, phthalates, cruelty and gluten.
Another drugstore hydrator made the cut – a tried and true, cult-classic favorite for good reason! This Nivea formula specifically is my personal favorite scent; it’s got shea butter and a special deep nourishing serum inside to lock in moisture for 48 hours (a hefty claim – but it’s true!). Nivea has been around for 130+ years, so clearly they’ve done something right! This stuff is suuuuuper fast-absorbing and a lighter weight lotion (as opposed to a richer best body butter formula).
Have you tried any favorites from my best body butter roundup?
Got a different tried and true moisturizer that you lovelovelove? I want – strike that, need – to know. 🙂
