Beauty Empties, Vol. 4

Call it belated spring cleaning – but I’ve got a handful of beauty empties that I didn’t have before thanks to a diligent inventory check of what I had in stock and almost complete. I took to intentionlly using up as much as possible before buying re-stocking ANYTHING new, so here we are – finishing things left and right and feelin’ good about it! So, another round of beauty empties (all past Beauty Empties here!) – lesssssgo.

BEAUTY EMPTIES, Vol. 4 - on Coming Up Roses (The makeup, skincare, and hair products that I've used totally up lately!)

GARNIER PURE CLEAN DRY SHAMPOO

As reviewed in this blog post with my favorite dry shampoo for brunettes! It’s a really good drugstore option with SO MANY near-perfect reviews. The formula is silicone-free and designed to not leave texture or grit or residue after using, which is key for me as a brunette especially.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE PRET-A-POWDER DRY SHAMPOO

Blogged this dry shampoo before, too! Another gem. It goes on invisibly (yay!), but actually works. It’s also got UV filters inside to provide protection from the sun’s rays, which is definitely something to highlight with summer on the horizon. Smells SO GOOD, too. 🙂

GLOW HABIT HAPPY HAIR GUMMY VITAMINS

I’m basically heartbroken that I cannot find these anywhere online now for the actual life of me. Not going to say I was addicted to these vitamins…but I was addicted to these vitamins. They taste, I kid you not, like strawberry fruit rolls up. So if you’re on the train of hating gagging down big pills or vitamins that taste like fish, meet your new saving grace (if they restock, please sweet Lord baby Jesus hear our prayer). They’ve got biotin, bamboo extract, + Vitamin E inside to promote healthy hair growth.

COSTCO’S KIRKLAND DAILY FACIAL TOWELETTES

I got these on another blogger’s recommendation and I didn’t hate them! Yay! I’m SUUUUPER picky with makeup wipes…as in, I usually ONLY like these. None others. If they’re too dry, bust. If they’re too burny, bust. They need to effectively clean my skin, be WET so as to not rip and rub my skin to kingdom come…you know the drill. These have not overturned the throne of my ride or dies, but they’re decent enough – especially for the price when bulk-buying at Costco (and they come in travel-size packages, too!).

E.L.F. EYELID PRIMER

This is my favorite drugstore eye lid primer of all time! I re-purchase continuously. It’s, like, $2. I kid you not. And it works just as well as Urban Decay’s on my lids, which speaks volumes since Urban is usually the best primers on the block. One you’ve seen/will see in many an edition of Beauty Empties!

PHYSICIANS FORMULA MURUMURU BUTTER LIP SLEEPING MASK

You’ve probably heard my mention Physicians Formula’s Murumuru products once or twice around these rosy parts (or three, four, five times…you get my drift 😉 ). They’re just SO good and holy grails in my makeup vault. This lip mask was impressive – before it, really only the Laneige lip masks noticeably worked for me, and those cost $30+ for a full-size tub (albeite, I think they’re worth it because they’re FABULOUS). I think this one is only sold in the Murumuru kit (linked above) at this point, but it is competitive in formula/feel – and it smells divinely tropical. I recommend!

SUGAR DREAM ADVANCED THERAPY SHEER PINK LIP TREATMENT

Au contraire, as a lip product, I HATED this one. Granted, I’m not a fan of Sugar lip treatments/balms/products/etc in general – something about them smells weird to me? Am I alone in that sentiment? I just don’t like. Pass for me!

IT COSMETICS BROW POWER PENCIL IN UNIVERSAL TAUPE

This is truly a universal brow pencil, I think! I like the spooly on the opposite end. And the taupe shade does really feel universal!

OGX O2 WEIGHTLESS OIL + LIFTING TONIC

I’m a biiiiiig fan of OGX hair products. They’ve been on my radar for years and a favorite for years. I’ve always especially favorited their weightless dry oil sprays for a boost of hydration that does NOT make your hair stringy or greasy or gross (because ain’t nobody got time). It’s a nice light burst – this one in particular has oxygen technology (whatever that is? Ha!) + cloudberry oil that claims to moisturizer, volumize, + lift hair. It also smells INCREDIBLE.

TARTE MARACUJA TINTED HYDRATOR IN LIGHT NEUTRAL

I loveloveloved this stuff from the start! As a lighter alternative to foundation for summer months, it’s great. I’d say medium coverage (but buildable!) and wears nicely. It’s a clean formula with 12-hour hydration with great ingredients like maracuja oil, hyaluronic acid, vegan collagen, turmeric, + aloe. I wear shade Light Neutral.

Only beef: you can get basically the same thing for $25 LESS at the drugstore here – I wear shade Light-Medium.

TULA ACNE CLEARING + TONE CORRECTING GEL

You know I’m a big Tula fan but hear me out here…their acne line is not my favorite. Like, it doesn’t really work for me? I think my skin is just *very* particular when it comes to acne clearing ingredients. That being said, I also think I went into using this product with the wrong expectation, because it’s not a spot treatment. So if you’re using it as that, I don’t think it will yield the desired effect. I think as more of an all-over gel to prevent breakouts + help tone is where it does its job. It’s got Salicylic Acid + probiotics for acne fighting/prevention, Azelaic acid + Niacinamide for brightening darkness from past spots, and Willowherb + Hyaluronic acid for hydrating (which I like since so many acne products just totally dry you out!).

My Tula discount code is COMINGUPROSES for 15% off anything anytime!

ALMAY CLEAR COMPLEXION CONCEALER in LIGHT

This is a repeat beauty buy for me – this was maybe my 4th or 5th tube? And definitely a familiar face to Beauty Empties! Hands down my favorite concealer to put on acne spots or blemishes since it has salicylic acid inside to help clear said blemishes. I *hate* putting regular concealer on to just cover it visually – I want to CLEAR it, too! Always in my makeup bag, always a recommendation.

L’OREAL VOLUMINOUS PRIMER MASCARA

One of my #1 tips for getting longer lashes is PRIMING them before applying your mascara! While I’ve tried expensive primers from Sephora (this one is v popular + v good!), this one from L’Oreal does the trick for a lot less dollars.

CLARINS INSTANT LIGHT LIP COMFORT OIL in HONEY

I have quite a few of these lip comfort oils in my collection from a PR package – and they’re lovely. Are they lovely enough to warrant shelling out $26 on one? Not sure – it’s definitely a nice treat yo’self lip gloss, with jojoba and hazelnut inside for hydration. And it’s not sticky! But since you can get other good-for-you lippies for less money at this point, I’d say try this one instead!

TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY 12-HOUR BLUSH IN THRILLED

This blush is nice with good ingredients (Vitamin E!) BUT at $29…it’s expensive for blush, I think. I have some drugstore blushes that wear just as nicely, so I’d probably pass on re-purchasing this one again.

SMASHBOX ALWAYS ON LIQUID LIPSTICK IN BAWSE

A very impressive liquid lipstick formula – which you know because I feel like it’s pretty rare to finish an ENTIRE tube of a lip product?! Cool things to note here: it’s waterproof and infused with a primer oil complex to keep it comfortable and non-drying. No parabens or phthalates,  cruelty-free, and a velvety-matte finish. Also liked that it didn’t feather or bleed out, and didn’t feel cakey!

COVERGIRL SUPER SIZER MASCARA in VERY BLACK

I loveloveloved this mascara – a great drugstore option that I would absolutely buy again!

ESSENCE LASH PRINCESS VOLUME MASCARA

This mascara brand, though, might be my favorite drugstore mascara brand of all time. This one + this one are MUSTS for me. They work just as well as – if not better than – other near-$30 options. It’s equal parts lengthening + volumizing for me, which I require. For not even 5 bucks, I’d ABSOLUTELY recommend this one!

DOVE INSTANT FOAMING BODYWASH IN GLOWING MANGO BUTTER

I was surprised to really like this stuff! Normally I’m not a fan of foaming bodywashes because it’s weirly fluffy and won’t stay on my loufa, and then ends up just all falling off and down the drain (womp womp). This one stays on, feels hydrating (it’s sulfate-free!), and you get 250 pumps per bottle which lasts awhile!

COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD QUENCH & SHINE RESTORATIVE SHAMPOO

Colleen’s hair products smell like your grandmother’s expensive perfume in the best sense. This shampoo is paraben and sulfate-free + (so, color-safe! Bless up!) with Moringa Oil + Shea Butter for moisture and shine without being heavy. It’s also got Biotin + Niacinamide inside for more nourishment.

Do you have any beauty empties lately that you’ll be re-purchasing?
