HEY AWESOME NERDS! Currently I’m in New Orleans with J, so it felt fitting to do another CURRENTLY post to chit chat about some new things happening lately. 🙂 I’m also teaming up with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment for today’s Currently…because Pitch Perfect 3 JUST launched on Blu Ray, so you can own it now with new musical performances, a gag reel + extended scenes not seen in theaters! WOO. If you know me, you know music has always been a huuuuuuge part of my life. I’ve been singing + playing piano since age 5, I did every chorus + band in school, did Districts + Regionals for chorus in high school, was in all of my spring musicals, AND was in an a capella group in college (specifically, the group John Legend was in during his time at UPenn – #FunFact).
BUT, to celebrate the movie’s Blu Ray debut, I threw a little #PitchesNightIn shindig – sharing some deets on that + other things currently happening!

WEARING // Light floral dresses! This is a *warmly* welcomed change (pun intended 😉 ) compared the long-sleeved life still happening in PA right about now. But that’s NOLA for ya! J + I kicked this week off in New Orleans, where it feels practically like summertime and the livins’ eaaaaaaasy. I picked up a few floral frocks from Express, some things from ShopBop during their big sale not too long ago, + some fun dresses/rompers from Sugar Lips in preparation for the sunshine!
DRINKING // The CRUSHED IT. My own Pitch Perfect 3-inspired concoction. It’s SO STINKIN’ DELISH, if I do say so myself. I’ve seen variations on Pinterest that are “creamsicle” inspired, which 100% summarizes the taste to a T. To whip up the CRUSHED IT yourself, you’ll need:
- CRUSH Orange soda
- 1½ parts whipped vodka
- 2 parts Crush
- 2 parts ginger ale
- Orange wedges and/or maraschino cherries
Mix it all together and you’re good to go!
LISTENING TO // The Pitch Perfect 3 soundtrack, obvi. Specifically, the song Freedom – #CantStopWontStop. Also The Greatest Showman soundtrack still, which I will likely be listening to daily until 2025.
WISHING // That Mother Nature would calm down and let it be *warm* in PA ASAP. New Orleans is 75 and sunny (+ humid as heck WOW). And when we head back to Philly, we’re apparently heading back into yet another Noreaster snowstorm. ACA-SCUSE ME. I did not sign up for this. Reaaaaaally wishing that the temperature would at least level out a bit so that I’d have SOME semblance of a clue what to wear on a daily basis. This is sheer insanity, folks.
EATING // BEIGNETS. Oh Lawdy. I didn’t even know these bad boys *existed* until being down in NOLA, and wow. We’ve hit up Cafe Du Monde every. single. day. They’re actual magic in your mouth. Also still eating all of the snacks from my #PitchesNightIn fiesta – popcorn, pretzels, Twizzlers, berry Skittles…all way too delish to be NOT eaten. So, there’s that. (Also all pair v. well with the CRUSHED IT, FYI).
THINKING ABOUT // More beignets. I’m sitting here typing this and *strongly* considering running down the street in my JAMMIES to pick up a few. Also thinking about doing an entire Pitch Perfect marathon ASAP – have y’all ever done that?? There’s just something so fun + sentimental about binging one of your favorite movie trilogies all the way through!
CRUSHING ON // This gorgeous (it’s in my cart!), these super affordable jeans that I’ve been wearing on repeat lately, + the new that I’ve been playing with this past week!
WATCHING // Pitch Perfect 3 on Blu Ray! It just came out on Blu Ray, so it’s obvi time for a #PitchesNightIn movie night with the girls. If you’ve seen the 1st + 2nd movies, they center around an all-girls acapella group in college – The Barden Bellas – and their coming together to make awesome music (with their mouths 😉 ). After nearly all graduating from college, they find themselves all feelin’ pretty lost in the real world and wanting reaaaaally badly to be back together singing. They end up reuniting for an overseas USO tour – and it’s both musically lit + full of laughs. Here’s the trailer for ya…
IGNORING // The fact that it’ll be another month and then some until The Bachelorette/The Bachelor franchise is back on TV. Womp. Also ignoring the mound of laundry on our bedroom floor that needs to be folded + put away. If anyone asks, it’s just a giant fabric fort for my cats.
EXCITED FOR // A sure-to-be fabulous trip to Salt Lake City in April with some of my besties! We all met on the internet, and it will be the *first* time that all 4 of us are together in person, so we’re all PUMPED to say the least. Actually, I’ve got a ton of travel happening in April, my head is already spinning. First up, Easter. (If you’re still stuck on what to wear, I found 10 Easter dresses that are both church + family appropriate AND cute, that won’t break the bank!). Then, a trip to Tennessee with J to hang out with some of our very best friends – Christina + her hubby, Pai! It’s been approximately way too long since we last got to hang out (since around Labor Day weekend last year!), so we’re all majorly stoked. Plus it’s always fun to get to travel a bit to see friends! After that is another pending trip, and then SLC – so girlfriend’s gonna need to perfect her packing + plan ahead, since it feels like I’ll be living in a plane for the month!
SCHEDULING // Another weekend with my Nana & Pop. They’re just the best. J + I loveloveLOVE spending time with them, so another day trip is in order!
GRATEFUL FOR // A hubby who constantly reminds me to relaaaaaaax. Relaxing is not my strongest suit. 😉 But he always knows when to work hard versus when to let go + live a little, so I’m super grateful for that, especially in a travel buddy. 🙂
