One of the most frequently asked-for things when it comes to style content on CUR is affordable workwear! And you know what I always say – ask and ye shall receive. 🙂 I’m thinking of making this “desk to drinks” kinda post a more regular things around these rosy parts if you find it helpful; y’all seemed to really enjoy the last one with this leopard blouse + ponte pants combo! I know whenever I’m shopping workwear (even though my “workwear” nowadays can be Lululemons – ha!), I want something versatile. I don’t want to feel self-conscious or uncomfortable if there’s a happy hour after office hours, nor do I like having an itch to change the second I get home from work (although that’s often the case anyways because COMFIES!). Ideally, workwear works for more than just work, and it can transition hours easily + effortlessly so that you’re still dressed for the occasion whether that occasion is in a cubicle at 10 am or in a cute cafe at 5.
I couldn’t wait to share this easy look with you for a few reasons.
1.) It’s SO EASY. It’s a throw-on-and-go kinda look that still feels polished + comfortable and takes approximately zero actual effort.
2.) It’s SO AFFORDABLE. I mean, both top + bottom are Walmart fashion finds (which you know I’ve been loveloveloving lately more than ever since I’ve been striking GOLD!!! Always check for the latest + greatest!). But even more than that, they’re on sale even FURTHER right now, so you can grab both pieces for not even 30 bucks.
Seriously!
I just had to double take my own typing and re-check on the website because that feels waaaaay too good to be true, but alas – IT IS. So, let’s chat the latest from desk to drinks: the polka dots + ponte pants edition.
First thing’s first: . How fun?!
I lovelovelove that it’s got a slight v-neckline with buttons to the point where it’s still work-appropriate without feeling stuffy. The cinching at the waist is a flattering touch, especially with the light peplum, and the lightly peplumed sleeves further the feminine flair! This is a lighter-weight top which makes it a great option for layering with a blazer if need be, or just transitioning seasons since it’s a spring-friendly fabric once knits and sweaters are too warm. It comes in black with white polka dots, as well as blue with white – and either/both/all work from desk to drinks! It’s originally about $25 but currently on sale for $13, so SNATCH ONE before they sell out!
Next up, Look familiar? If so, probably because they’re near-exact lookalikes to my original pair of ponte pants, which just so happened to be in the last desk to drinks post! 😉 BUT…today’s ponte pants are half the price. Bless up. (Although both are affordable – they’re just popular + sell out fast, so grab whichever is in stock when you’re shopping!). These are essentially the quintessential work pant if you wish you could wear leggings to the office but can’t. 😉 They’re a truly flattering fit without being skin-tight or inappropriate, and the seam down the front pant leg works for that as a little detail! They’re also SO comfortable; I mean, they’re literally like thicker versions of your favorite black leggings, elastic waistband and all. The pantleg also works with heels AND flats, so it’s a truly versatile pant. Did I mention currently ?!?! Seriously, for all my working ladies in the house – if you don’t own ponte pants as of yet, WYD?!? Between the affordability, comfortability AND versatility, they’re a no-brainer addition to your workwear lineup. Buy now, thank me later. 😉
My $15 were a bestseller this holiday season, and for good reason; they’re like the Audrey Hepburn-version of your basic black pump. I wore them nonstop and will continue to wear them since they’re essentially timeless! Personally, I’m also very into the ankle strap since I’ve mentioned before that I can’t wear regular pumps that don’t literally strap to your foot somehow, because for some bizarre reason I walk out of ALL OF THEM – sizing up, down, or staying true to size doesn’t do a thing.
They’re unfortunately nearly sold out now, but this outfit is versatile enough that nearly any pump OR flat in any color will do! I’d actually recommend swapping out black for a pop of a fun hue to brighten up the winter months ahead, especially with the rest of the look being black-and-white. But for a more formal office setting, sticking to neutrals is appropos!
Do you own ponte pants yet?
What would YOU like to see styled in a future desk to drinks post if we make this a thing? I’d lovelovelove to hear more about your own workplace, if you’re in a non-uniform setting, and see how I can help stock your workwear with the most versatile, worthwhile pieces!
