1 Thing, 3 Ways: Black and White Gingham

It’s baaaaack! I realized it’s been way too hot of a sec since a true 1 Thing, 3 Ways post, so it’s about time we change that. I’ve been a few pieces past obsessed when it comes to black and white gingham lately – I think it’s calling for a future Trend To Try? Or is this just me??? 😉 Either way, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I got this little black and white gingham two-piece set in the mail.

First, it’s two pieces. Automatically cuter + trendier.

Second, it’s soft + squishy, basically feeling like pajamas. Anything that isn’t suffocating in summertime is a must in my book, so the lighter the material + the flowier the fit, the better.

Third, it’s $15. YUP, $15. Total. For two pieces. I’m sorry what.

Granted, sizing can be a bit tricky with this company, so you HAVE to go by the given measurements instead of just your traditional S/M/L size. I’m wearing a size Small set, but honestly, if you think you might need one size on top and another on bottom (since – hello! – that’s totally normal!), I’d recommend just ordering two sets, paying $30 total and mixing + matching sizing. Then give the opposite pieces to whichever bestie they’d fit best. 😉

SO, let’s style 1 Thing, 3 Ways…

Black and White Gingham

Look #1: From Top to Bottom

(c/o – SO cute for only $15 total?!?! I can’t. I wear size Small!) // (c/o) // // Black leather crossbody bag (c/o – I’m obsessed with this brand – they’ve got the most gorgeous, colorful, fun, high quality leather bags!)

By itself, this set is adorbs isn’t it??? A two-piece set is basically effortless, cos you can throw it on and go but still look totally put-together + well-styled. Easy peasy to wear by itself like that, with just classic sandals + a fun pair o’ earrings. The little ruffle in the shorts is so cute, and I lovelovelove that they’re a *bit* high-waisted to complement the crop top.

I went pretty monochromatic with the black and white, but this set would also work so well with a pop o’ color in the shoes, tied together with the same bright, bold statement on the lips.

I thought this would literally by *perfect* for a 1 Thing, 3 Ways, cos it’s the EASIEST sorta thing to wear 3 ways! Once as the set, and once with each piece styled by itself. So for $15-30, you’re getting not one, not two, but at LEAST three easy looks. The only way that could get any better is if it comes with a bottle of wine and a million dollars. 😉

Look #2: A pair o’ jeans that fit just right

(c/o – TTS!) // (my favorite pair!!! *SALE ALERT* – Available in more/all sizes AND on sale and also sold . Slightly high waisted and slight crop hem, so they’re the *ultimate* jean for making your legs look super loooong. Also just got in from this mega sale, and I’m in loveloveloooooove – I can already tell they’re going to be on repeat all fall + winter long, and they’re in the running to tie for all-time fave jeans! They feel like leggings on but are actual denim – not jeggings. SO GOOD, YO.) // Strappy heels (exact option sold out, but almost identical pair under $30 ) // Turquoise necklace () //

Another reason I lovelovelove this set is how effortlessly each piece styles individually. Case in point: The top. ANYTHING high-waisted looks great here. High-waisted denim, high-waisted black pants, a high-waisted skirt – the sky’s the limit. I’ve talked about these jeans before, but they’re basically the perfect pair, in my opinion. They’re ultra-flattering in fit, and that slight crop hem coupled with the high waist really elongates the leg.

This look is perfect for going out, cos it’s fun n’ flirty without being too revealing. You’ll feel totally confident + cute without feeling uncomfortable at all – a major must. It’s like wearing your favorite jeans that just make ya feel h-o-t and pairing with a cute top that’s just super wearable without baring all.

Look #3: Cut it short

(c/o – TTS!) // Plum top (LOFT – sold out, similar ) //  (J got me this for my last birthday since it was my first birthday as a married woman with new initials, and I am OBSESSED!!!! If y’all follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me wearing it in Stories constantly – it’s my favorite cos it’s so personal, but matches everything and its mom. Classic, but still a statement! ALSO, the company is having a huge 75% right now…!!!) // (c/o – these run small, so order up at least a half size – you could even go a whole size up comfortable – if you’re considering buying!) // (“Forbidden Kiss”)

This is a super wearable daytime look with the black and white gingham shorts at center stage. Pair with a simple top to keep them at focus; I chose a pretty color to not just be all black and white all the time. Since the top is so classic + simplistic, I added my big monogram necklace for an accessorized statement.

Each piece here could be a statement in and of itself (besides the top), but somehow they work together since they’re all on the more subtle side. (A big monogram, ruffled black and white gingham shorts, wine loafers, etc). So I’m a fan of being able to pull pieces together like this, but having the flexibility to style looks around each piece individually to ensure you’re getting awesome cost per wear of everything in yo’ closet. 🙂
