August slipped away into a moment in time…truly the truest phrase right about now. We blinked and BAM – the month is done, the PSL has arrived, and spooky season is upon us. It’s been a blur of baby snuggles and trying to figure out a rhythm that works for all of us. I’ll say at this point…it’s still a work in progress. Ha. But especially with being cleared to workout again now, I’m hoping it will start to feel a bit easier or more consistent. My Type A brain struggles without routine, and having a newborn means your plan should be having no plans. 😉 But Jonah man is thriving and I’d say we’re getting there! Lots of fun favorites + new finds this month, so I’m stoked to dive right into it. 🙂
I never thought I’d be a Kindle girl. Living so much of my life/work online, I crave offline as much as possible – I’m a paper planner gal and a hard copy kinda chica. But when my besties Taylor and Chelsie started really singing Kindle’s praises, my interest was piqued. Then, Chels gifted me one for my birthday, knowing, as BFFs do, that it would quickly become an essential for me. Ane sure enough…here we are. 😉 Couldn’t live without it now. Especially for nursing in the middle of the night, it’s a complete game changer and life saver. The screen doesn’t emit as much harmful blue light as other screens and it’s designed to be glare-free, so it’s great for reading anywhere, really – whether that’s at the pool or on the beach when you’re sitting in sun, or in an otherwise dark room in the middle of the night. You get great battery life and they’re waterproof (for accidental “oops” drops into a bath, pool, etc).
Truly, can’t recommend it enough – and I’m reading SO much more now since it’s the easiest thing to thrown in a bag and have access to an entire library of books anywhere. I got this clear case to protect it!
2.) Tiny Tags 14K dog tags necklace
I’m such a sucker for sentimental jewelry. While in high school I’d stock up on costume jewelry at Claire’s Boutique, now, my taste has entirely shifted to much more minimalistic, meaningful pieces. When I first discovered Tiny Tags, I knew I’d just found my next obsession. It’s a female-founded small shop born from a love for motherhood – although you can get custom pieces to commemorate any special someone in your life.
My double dog tags are Tiny Tags – and each has one of my kiddo’s names on the front and their birthday on the back! They’re so subtle and sweet, and I’ve been wearing on repeat. I wear them on a 24″ chain and then layer with a few other Tiny Tags pieces: this heart necklace and this mama necklace with my birthstone. My dog tags are 14K gold, so they’ll last forever, and then I have them on a gold-filled chain – but it’s nice enough that you can’t discern any difference in quality. I lovelovelove creating a sentimental stack that really speaks to you as a whole person; for me, I’ve got my birthstone tag on top (although I also have a nameplate necklace with my own name on the way!), then a pave heart to symbolize our marriage, and then the kids’ dog tags on the bottom.
3.) Costco bubble tea
We bought this bubble tea on a whim, grabbing it from the freezer section during some random Costco run. I’m a big bubble tea gal, so I was tempted to try – and turns out, it’s actually FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC. Tastes *just* like my favorite milk tea that I get whenever I’m in New York City. The boba and tea come frozen together in little packs that you just stand in a mug and microwave when ready; then, pour over ice and add your choice milk. I’ve done with regular and coconut milk, and holy moly – it’s just SO yum.
Shoutout to Taylor for sending these in a little mama care package – they’re so delish, I’d eat them regardless of whether or not I was breastfeeding. They’re loaded with ingredients that are supposed to help boost milk supply – of course, it’s a bit impossible to tell just how MUCH things like this help, since it’s not like we have comparables of consistent before/afters. But, it’s a good clean ingredient label and they’re absolutely YUM, so if they ALSO help boost my milk…I’m here for it.
After one too many wrestling matches with my Solly Wrap, I threw this one on in a fit of frustration, needing to carry and calm little man ASAP. I was instantly impressed at how simple it is to put on solo – you just threw the shoulder straps on backpack-style, buckle the front, and put in your baby, securing up as you go. It keeps him comfy and close, and it’s easy for others to wear, too – so it’s been a great go-to for being out and about, or even around the house.
6.) Stoplight timer
As any toddler or preschool-age mama knows, transitions can be…tough. In researching some possible solutions, I came across this timer tool on Amazon. Granted, there are so many timers out there. But this one stood out for me since it’s such a good visual tool for the kids. You set the time on the bottom, and then the timer calculates at what point to move from green to yellow light, when the timer is about 3/4 of the way down. Then once it hits red, it blinks and beeps, and the kiddo can tap the top to turn it off. We’ve really liked it with Liv since it gets her involved in the process…and it actually WORKS.
7.) Sojos sunnies
I’m all about a good pair of Amazon sunglasses – I just can’t bring myself to drop the big bucks on sunnies that will inevitably end up thrown into a bag or under a carseat. This not-even-$15 pair is a designer look for less – they remind me of $400 Celine sunnies. They’re made well with polarized lenses, and they feel instantly chic.
You know I’m all about a good small shop – and Erin’s jewelry business is exactly that. She’s got such beautiful pieces, and this fun, colorful stack is no exception. They’re sold separately, but I just lovelovelove how they pair together; this bigger beaded necklace is giving 90’s candy necklace, but all grown up and oh so chic. A cute way to incorporate more color and make a statement that’s trendy AND still classic!
9.) Face Foundrie KOP
When I first got word of a new facial place opening in the mall, your girl was pumped. There’s nothing quite like a reaaaaally good facial. Now, I’m picky – I don’t want to pay $100+ for someone to just wash my face in a fancy way, you know? I want it to be equal parts ~treatment~ and ~experience~ that I wouldn’t be able to recreate at home. Mimi and I hit up the Face Foundrie for its opening day; she got a H2Glow (their equivalent of a Hydrafacial), I got a Foundrie Glow, and both were fabulous. We were totally impressed with both the services and the people – and the price points are FANTASTIC. I’ve paid $175+ for facials in the past and this was right on par for quality. And what’s more, we met the sweet manager of the KOP location (shoutout to Alicia), and she so kindly offered a code just for you, so that any of you local ladies can get 50% off (!!!!!) your first service.
10.) Free People Ziggy shortalls
I’ve always been a sucker for good overalls, and I’d heard nothing but good things about these. Turns out, they’re worth all the hype – they’re that perfect pair for a slightly oversized but totally comfortable fit. They’ve been on repeat all of August and so good for postpartum. I’ve got these in my cart for transitioning to fall! I wear size small.
