**Welcome to NYNB Part Deuce for May! In case you missed it, we’ve been chatting analytics, because it’s basically the bane of all of our blogging existences. Overdramatic? Taylor and I think not. But today, we’re thrilled to welcome the ridiculously cool blonde bombshell Helene from the kickass blog, Helene in Between. Maybe you’ve heard of her? She’s currently in the running for Best Blogger in Dallas, so there’s that.
Take it over, Helene!
One of the most popular posts on my blog is my post on Google Analytics. Analytics seem like something intangible mountain that we really can’t understand. It’s shrouded in the cloud of misinterpretation of what you can do with the wealth of information you receive. We know about it, but how can we really utilize it?
In case you need a refresher, check out a beginner’s Google Analytics tutorial. But today, let’s put them into practice. A little background: With analytics, you’re able to pinpoint where your pageviews are coming from, look at the direct source of traffic and see where those hits are coming from.
Now that you have all this data, what should you do?
First, take a look at which types of posts are popular. Are you getting more hits on posts about your posts on how to do your hair in a sock bun or a humorous post about your life? You can use this to your advantage and see which posts are most successful for you…and then blog about those more!
See which source is best for your blog. Let’s say your highest form of traffic is Pinterest. Great! Keep it up. I suggest striking while the iron is hot. Repost old blog posts on pinterest or repin imags from the past. You can also see which social media platforms you might need to improve. Do you have a rocking Facebook page, but aren’t getting a lot of engagement? Maybe it’s time to revamp it.
Next, take a look at how people are looking at your blog. Are readers seeing you on mobile or primarily on a computer? If it happens to be mobile, you might want to change up your design to make sure it fits the the platform.
Observe average time on page. This is telling you how long people are staying on your site. You can look at bounce rate to see how many pages people are looking at within your blog. People are just getting on your blog and then peacing-out. Sure, your page views might be good, but people aren’t finding what they want on your site. You might need to reorganize a little! Maybe your posts need to be more clear. Or you should input more SEO for your blog.
This is really just a brief look into what our analytics can tell us. When you pay attention to your analytics you can help increase your blog’s value and help grow your audience overall.
**Thanks, Helene! This girl has got it goin’ on, so we strongly suggest heeding her advice. I mean, you don’t get to be the best – literally – without knowing your analytics to a T!Â
What have you been doing to better track, monitor, change, and (hopefully) improve your analytics this month?

May your weekend be as long as your own beauty story.
