Happy HUMP! How’s your week so far?? I for one am ready for the weekend. Actually…I’m ready for tomorrow. I announced on Instastories a few days ago + my Instagram yesterday (@ericaligenza – follow me here!) that I’m hosting a super fun event this week! TOMORROW (11/16), I’ll be hanging out at the French Connection Holiday Trunk Show at the South Moon Under Store in Wayne, PA from 5-7 pm. There will be shopping, giveaways, gifts with purchase, + WINE & CHEESE, YO. If you’re at all in the area, I would SO lovelovelove to see ya there – it’ll be a blast! Plus, you can get all of your Christmas shopping done early. For yourself. Your Christmas shopping for yourself. 😉 French Connection is one of the most gorgeous brands ever + I am obsessed with their stuff, and South Moon Under is one of my favorite STORES ever, so I know you’re going to have a ball. Did I mention wine + cheese? OK OK, I’ll stop – pleasepleaseplease stop by for a glass of wine + to say hi if you’re around tomorrow night! (Wayne is right near the King of Prussia Mall, for perspective 🙂 ).
Alright alright alriiiiiiight, now let’s talk makeup! I’m so stoked to be partnering with my friends at Physicians Formula again (didja catch this post celebrating their 80th Anniversary Collection??) to celebrate TWO exciting product launches with two super EASY holiday makeup looks! Physicians Formula has always been a drugstore fave of mine, particularly because of everything in their products – or rather, everything that’s not in their products! Physicians Formula products are hypoallergenic (dermatologist-approved for sensitive skin!), paraben-free, cruelty-free, gluten-free…the list goes on. And honestly, it’s a list that not many drugstore brands can boast, simply because it’s not necessarily a list found on more affordable products! PF puts so much care into what they create, which I really respect.
First thing’s first, I’m SO STOKED to share two totally ~new~ products with you guys from the Physicians Formula front. I swatched the new Butter Highlighters on Instastories (@ericaligenza) upon first receiving them in the mail, and holy moly I think the gates of heaven shone down through them. I got so many messages then asking about them – y’all are smart and want that affordable highlight on fleek. 😉 And second – The Healthy Lip. Physicians Formula did not previously have a huge selection of lip products – a travesty, I know. But this new launch of a liquid lipstick line does not disappoint. More on both below!
Second thing’s second: the actual looks! Some holidays, I’m going for a more glam makeup look. Other times…not so much. If I’m just hanging out with my family, I moreso want to be comfortable. We’re all best friends, and honestly…we cry a lot at the holidays. We cry from good songs, beautiful prayers, absurd stories and jokes…we’re just an emotional bunch, OK??? For spending time with the fam, I’m not about the full “beat” (is that what the kids say nowadays??) + falsies. Also, I can’t even put on falsies, so there’s that. 😉 Point being, I wanted to share two ~easy~ looks for y’all that are versatile enough to wear for whatever you’ve got on the Christmas calendar (or Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, the whole nine holidays).
For both looks, I’m using the two latest additions to the Physicians Formula family: the Butter Highlighters, and The Healthy Lip. The Butter Highlighters are the creamiest, literal butteriest thing I’ve ever seen for the face. The Butter Bronzer + Butter Blushes are cult classics in the drugstore beauty realm, and for good reason. These highlights…they’re even creamier. There are 4 highlight shades: pearl, champagne, rose gold, + pink. I actually think all 4 are pretty wearable across skin tones, so it really just depends on what sorta glow you’re going for on a given day! They’re available here + also available at select CVS stores (so be sure to throw one in your basket – or all 4 – on your next CVS run!).
The Healthy Lip is Physicians Formula debut into lippy world. *And the lipstick hoarders said amen*.
The Healthy Lip is currently available at select CVS stores, but will be available on physiciansformula.com this coming December (so soon!).
For this first look, I wanted to do a bit more of a subtle glam eye, paired with a more neutral lip.
First, I started with the shimmer eye primer to complement the oncoming shimmery look. I then used the Physicians Formula shimmer strips Extreme Shimmer Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner in Gold Nude to create a smokier, sparklier eye look that I ended up really loveloveloving. For this, I did a cut crease – I started with the shade second to the left on my upper crease, right before my brow bone. Then I “cut” it with lighter shade directly to its right on my lid, with minimal blending of the two. I opted out of eyeliner to just keep everything very sparkly, and instead loaded up on mascara.
On my lips, I chose The Healthy Lip in a pretty mauve shade.
This formula is so great when it comes to liquid lipsticks, because it really does go on feeling more like gloss. While it does dry more matte, it’s a really comfortable matte – not like some liquid lipsticks that feel like suction cups of all that is good and hydrating before the day is done. And, the color selection is awesome for everyday wear. There’s a really impressive lineup of mauves + pinkier nudes, a classic red, a pop of bright pink, + a few darker plums, too. I kinda think of it as the everyday lip arsenal for any season!
I went with a go-to eye look of mine for this second option; instead of a cut crease, I covered my entire lid in a light shade from the #InstaReady Multi-Finished Eyeshadow Palette in Natural Nude. Next, I just went in a darker neutral from the outer corner working inwards. It ends up being a sorta half-and-half look before I’m done! Then, I just go in a blend the two together thoroughly. Sometimes – especially for a fun holiday look with room to play – I add a swipe of an extra somethin’somethin’ down the middle of my lid (often a sparkle, lessssbehonest). Lastly, I added a thin swipe of black eyeliner (Physicians Formula’s Glide-On Gel Eyeliner in “Black Velvet”) + some mascara to finish the eyes.
Since the eye look is more subdued here, I paired with a bold red lip (The Healthy Lip, “Fight Free Red-icals”).
Aaaaaand VOILA. Super easy in the grand scheme of makeup. 😉
Have you tried any of the new Physicians Formula products? What’s your fave holiday makeup look?
I’d lovelovelove to know…have you gotten your hands on a Butter Highlight or Healthy Lip yet???
Are you more of a full glam kinda gal for the holidays, or simple + chic?
P.S. If you’re a Philly gal/around the area at all + might stop by the event at South Moon Under Wayne tomorrow night…HOLLAH AT ME, SISTAH. Can’t wait to see ya there!
