“January is the ingrown hair of the calendar.” Saw that quote on a board at preschool pickup and really felt it in the depths of my soul – it’s so true, isn’t it? It’s typically the dreariest month coming down from the holiday highs, with everything feeling like a little reset and preparational period for the new year ahead. Are you a January fan? However you’re having it, I hope it was a good start to your 2023 and that you’re filled with good feels for the next 365 days. 🙂 Popping in today with the usual CURoundup to close out the month (with Cool Sh*t dropping tomorrow – get stoked + stay tuned!). We’ve got top sellers, top podcast episodes, most-asked-about links + more.
P.S. Don’t miss a few new + improved DISCOUNT CODES down below for you to treat yo’self (like a bigger discount from a favorite boutique…yay!).

JANUARY’S PODCAST EPISODES:
1.) How I VISION BOARD for the New Year – Happy New Year! Welcome to 2023, and welcome to SEASON 4 of THRIVE. We’re kicking things off in show, sweet, and simple way, with a mini episode on VISION BOARDING. I like to make a vision board to help clarify my personal goals and dreams for the year and work as a visual reminder and guide. It’s a helpful way to align and re-align daily habits and routines, so that 365 days from now, you can say that you somehow embody certain traits or have experienced certain things that you haven’t as of yet.
2.) Living Unapologetically with God as your Guide – with Angela Quinteros – After 19 years working in education, Angela hit a wall – she was striving, leading and educating, at the eventual expense of the health of her marriage and family. Today on THRIVE, you’ll learn how to recognize God’s nudges and winks to know when to make shifts. You’ll also learn how to identify your core values so that you can set better boundaries that accurately reflect your chosen priorities. AND you’ll learn more about borrowing from past faith to get through future unknowns and question marks in your own life. Angela openly shares her journey to stopping the striving, leaning into a new God-given calling, and applying biblical principles to daily life for a healthier, happier, holier everyday.
3.) Rejection as Redirection: What to Do (+ How to Think) When you Hear ”NO” – with Lucy Bedewi – There’s no one who particularly LIKES hearing the word “no.” It’s a punch to the stomach that can make you question everything from your career path to your partner. When Lucy Bedewi was told she had “too strong of a personality” for a job, she felt the feels – then did something with it. Lucy took the rejection as redirection and went on to launch her own business at age 21, making six-figures in her first full year and becoming the writer behind many international corporations, fast-growth start-ups, world-famous bakeries, 7-figure coaches and more. Today on THRIVE, Lucy’s “strong” personality shines and she dives deep into tips for bouncing back and forward after hearing “no.” We talk about knowing when (and how) to take the reasoning for a “no” to heart versus when to brush it off. And, Lucy also shares specific mindset shifts you have to take when you do, inevitably, hear no.
4.) Positive Discipline: Reparenting your Inner Child & Focusing on your Strengths – with Kristen Ancker – Power struggles, sibling fighting, constant chaos…solemn nods of solidarity from the parents in the house, right? Kristen feels our collective pain, and as a parent empowerment coach, encouragement consultant, ex-Montessori teacher and director and certified facilitator of Positive Discipline, she’s here to help. While on paper she’s “got it all” as a would-be know-it-all mom, her journey wasn’t always easy transitioning from a teacher to a parent herself. Today on THRIVE, Kristen realistically explains “positive discipline” and breaks down best practices based on the latest in neuroscience and child development (and her on the job training as a mom of three). We also talk about reparenting your own inner child – especially if your upbringing involved a different parenting style than you’re personally implementing today. Kristen helps us focus on your own strengths while figuring this whole mom thing out as you go, with tips on proactively parenting instead of constantly feeling like you’re just reacting to little people with big feelings. 😉 Walk away from today’s episode feeling encouraged and empowered as the awesome parent you are!
JANUARY’S BESTSELLERS:
Top sellers are pulled from my analytics data, where I can see what YOU guys shopped + clicked the most all month long! No worries – it doesn’t tell me what all was in someone’s cart, or who bought what? But it’s helpful for me to see what’s most popular with the CURowd, and hopefully helpful/fun for YOU to see what fellow readers are shopping, too!
1.) Maybelline lippy – The most tried-and-true drugstore lip product we’ve ever shared – and still stan.
2.) Amazon slippers – A great $20-ish alternative to the $80-ish UGGs to get the look for less.
3.) No show socks – Still the BEST no-show socks on planet Earth. You’ll throw out all others and never go back!
4.) Amazon set – ERRR’ONE wanted details on this fun little set when I first wore it, both in person AND online! Ha! It’s so fun + festive for Valentine’s Day, but it does come in other non-pink options if you want a more neutral option for everyday wear. Feels so high quality.
5.) Levi’s jeans – Such a good, classic pair of denim for not even $25 – makes your bum look BOMB.
6.) Reduce cup – This seems to sell from this blog post – but I’ll forever stan my Simple Moderns!
7.) Taupe cowl neck sweater – SUCH a good Amazon sweater – it’s under $40, so soft, so stretchy, and NOT itchy! Works well over leggings, too.
8.) Golden Goose sneakers – I’ll admit it – I’m a fan. Here’s my honest Golden Goose review…
9.) Knit flats – Now, I don’t personally own Rothy’s (yet) so can’t compare perfectly from firsthand experience, but at first glance, these seem pretty darn similar. They’re knit flats that are washable and comfortable!
10.) Heart tee – Feelin’ the lovelovelove for $7 – can’t beat it for a fun V-day tee. 🙂
