Happy hump, yo! I could actually not be more excited to bring y’all this post. Why? Only cos I think I’ve found the best dress ever. Seriously. No joke. The best. I bought this ruched bodycon dress on a whim after realizing how much I lovelovelove a good t-shirt dress. They’re so comfy, so easy, so breezy. AND, they’re the most versatile things, since they can be dressed down OR up at the drop of a hat (or, rather, with a lil’ accessorizing 😉 ). THIS DRESS, tho.
First off, the ruching. Ruching is such a flattering thing when done correctly.
Second, let’s talk my favorite feature: the entire bottom. I lovelovelove that it’s snugger on the booty without skimping on length. Oftentimes, bodycon dresses make me so uncomfortable cos I feel like I’m going out to the club, and I end up constantly tugging on my bottom hemline in fear that my hooha will be out for the world to see. No bueno. This dress still flatters yo’ backside without nearly SHOWING the actual backside. And even tho the edges are at nearly knee-length…it doesn’t look or feel like that, really. The ruching and V-cut still make it feel young + fresh + fun, even tho it’s a bit more modest.
Third, the price point. It’s just over $50, which I get is not the cheapest dress on the block. BUT. Y’all know if I’m spending more $$$ for something, I’m gonna be hella honest with y’all (as always) on whether or not it’s actually worth it. This dress…actually worth it. 100%. If you’re a dress gal and want something that you can literally throw-on-n’-go whenever, whether it’s for running errands or date night, this dress is it.
- Comfy AF
- Flattering AF
- Easy AF
What else couldja need???
SO. As soon as I got this sucker, I HAD to turn it into a 1 Thing, 3 Ways.
I also had to buy it in another color. Can ya blame me? 😉
But really, this bad boy could really go…oh, I dunno…52 ways? Literally, endless options here, peeps. But let’s leave it at 3 ways and dive right in.
Ruched Bodycon Dress
Look #1: Classic Daytime
(SO BOMBDOTCOM it ain’t even funny – comes in 5 colors and is at a good price point! I have it in heather grey, too, and am considering adding at least one more to my arsenal, too. I stayed TTS – wearing size S) // // Black-toe flats (from Primark in-store, similar – under $30 with code SURPRISE25) // (c/o) // (“Forbidden Kiss”
For a more chic daytime look, I paired the dress with my favorite colorblocked cardigan (which keeps coming in stock in different sizes, so be on the lookout!!), black-toed flats, and pretty earrings. It’s something I feel like I can wear out to a nice brunch or easy fall day. The all-neutral palette feels chic, but everything is super comfortable and not-stuffy in the slightest. These pretty earrings are the one thing that dresses it up a bit, I think, with the gold detail.
This ruched bodycon dress is THE dress to have going into fall, peeps. Throw ANY cardigan or sweater on overtop and you’ve got yourself the *ultimate* transitional look! And while I paired it with flats here, it would also look hella cute with high socks and boots. I can’t wait to wear it with as soon as the temp drops a few more degrees in Philadelphia…!
Look #2: Edgy Nighttime
// Leather jacket (old from Forever 21, similar , , + ) // // (c/o) // (“Ruby Woo”)
I don’t think I could lovelovelove this look any more. My own personal style is pretty edgy-girly, so pairing a pretty dress + heels with a leather jacket just gets me giddy. The all-black monochrome is trendy + chic (it feels very NYC), the red lip is classic, and the leopard heels are just a fun pop. The leopard pattern has been sold out for a bit unfortunately, but the designer makes a BUNCHA different color + pattern variations, so I’d recommend going with whichever one floats yo’ boat. Every girl needs a sold pair of statement heels in her wardrobe!
I lovelovelove the long necklace, too, as something different to break up the all black. Thank the Lord long pendant necklaces are so in right now, cos I’ve been wearing ’em nonstop.
This look is actually coming with me to New York Fashion Week (minus the heels, cos hello Manhattan streets…), and I’ll be rocking it with “fashion” sneakers instead. Apparently that’s what the kids are calling ’em nowadays? Sneakers that aren’t meant for doing anything besides walking around, looking cute. Ha.
Look #3: Sporty Chic
// (also available here and ) // // White baseball hat (from my alma mater university! Similar ) // (“Ruby Woo”)
I could actually live in this look. But really tho. I felt a bit like a soccer mom, but honestly, I’m OK with it. The bright white adidas kicks might’ve been too harsh of a contrast to the black on their own, so I whipped on my white Penn hat from college to round out the look. And these blue mirrored sunnies??? I mean, I’m obsessed. I actually first saw this dress being worn on a mama, and she was wearing it as a maternity dress, which I think really shows off the versatility of it! It works for so many body types AND through different life stages. College chicas, you can rock it to class OR to your internship (throw on a blazer + pumps and you’re good to go!). 20-somethings, you can wear it to happy hour, out running errands, hanging out with the S.O. – basically whenever, wherever. Mamas, you can chase the kiddos in it without feeling self-conscious about bending over and showing the goodies. It’s A TOTAL WIN, yo. Personally, I lovelovelove that it’s a look I can wear when I wanna feel confident + pretty but also when I don’t wanna do anything and haven’t washed my hair in 3 days. So obviously, a winning look.
