Thanks to ShopStyle and Kohl’s for sponsoring today’s post!
Before a few weekends ago, I couldn’t tell you the last time I spent a long time in a Kohl’s.
Not intentionally by any means – we just weren’t close to one growing up, and there wasn’t one near my college campus, so my sole Kohl’s experiences were on summer shopping trips with my aunt, or popping in for one item in particular. (Since this was largely before the days of 2-day shipping graced us all – ha!). I hadn’t previously had the privilege of getting lost in the store, so to speak, and just having fun spending time shopping justbecause. Really, I couldn’t tell you the last time I just had fun shopping around on a Saturday at all.
If you follow along on Instastories, you know…that I made up for lost time recently, BIG time. My mom and I spent some Saturday shopping time together, which is always a trip. Anytime we’re shopping in-store together, you can count on us piling way too many things in our cart, laughing a lot, being THOSE PEOPLE holding our victory finds up to show off to the other across the aisle, and sharing a big dressing room together to chat through all of our considerations.
It’s a thing.
So the two of us were on cloud nine in Kohl’s, since one of the many, many things that my mama and I have in common is our lovelovelove for a great deal on great brands. Allow me to walk you through a bit of our experience.
First off, the place is massive. Kohl’s has departments for the whole family, and everything is so well-organized. It’s like a time warp happens while you’re inside shopping – you lose track of it entirely since you’re genuinely enjoying your shopping experience, and then lo and behold, four hours go by. 😉 I made a not-so-accidental side track while en route to customer service, where I just so happened to stumble upon the baby department. And I mean…Olivia. Even though the girl’s got enough clothes for a small army of adorable peanuts, I just HAD to pitstop to see what sortof absurdly cute fruit-printed rompers or little ruched bloomers I could snag for my girl.
Second, The Outfit Bar. This is a newer feature under the Kohl’s roof, and it’s the perfect solution for any + every woman looking to add chic mix and match-able looks to her closet without breaking the bank – and without wasting time in store trying to figure out what goes with what. The Outfit Bar was curated by style expert Lilliana Vazquez to bring Kohl’s private-label brands alongside national brands, for head-to-toe outfits for the season to fit your need (+ budget). I was blown away by The Outfit Bar, because this is not just some random curation of a few key pieces. Nosirree! It’s a vast selection of intentionally chosen looks for every size and style, with pieces ranging from trendy wide leg crops to classic blazers. The Outfit Bar is a separate section entirely, where looks are essentially already styled out and organized together for a sense of one-stop-shopping – select shoes are even included at the base of sales racks so that you don’t have to hit up a new department entirely to complete the ensemble!
***Before I get to point numero tres, I have to give a huge shoutout to the Kohl’s I shopped at in good ol’ Havertown, PA – their store manager Rusanna is such a gem, and so genuinely helpful! But for my local girls, you’re all invited to a styling session with Lilliana this coming Thursday, May 2nd, from 5:30-7:30 pm at the store! She’ll be helping everyone style looks for everything from the office to a night out. So if you’re free Thursday night, consider popping by for some fun!
Third, Kohl’s Cash. Hands down, the most important puzzle piece here. I don’t know where Kohl’s Cash has been all my life, but WOW am I never looking back. I went to the register thinking how much I was going to drop on a few new spring outfits for myself and my mom (nothing beats a mother-daughter day shopping!). Turns out, while things are already priced so well to begin with AND go on sale often, additional discounts may come up at the counter that you weren’t even expecting! So, we were each able to add on some earrings and a chocolate bar to boot to hit our target total for earning the most possible Kohl’s Cash for our purchase. Kohl’s Cash is just FREE MONEY back in your pocket to spend on your next Kohl’s purchase, which, in my opinion, is brilliant.
We walked away with $60 in Kohl’s cash to spend! #BlessUp
Stepping off of my soapbox and onto my actual outfit…
I was able to select my entire look from The Outfit Bar!
First up, this blazer. It’s from the LC Lauren Conrad collection, which is full of light, feminine silhouettes. This blazer in particular is nice since it’s not as structured as other blazers, which helps its versatility factor in transitioning from desk to drinks. I was originally considering it in white, but fell in lovelovelove with this pretty rust color, especially since I didn’t really have anything else in my closet like it! There are quite a few colors online, and different ones still in store, so try both out!
Next, this peplum top. It’s also from LC Lauren Conrad, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s the SOFTEST, light thermal-like material that doesn’t wrinkle (y’all know that’s my golden ticket right there), it comes in quite a few colors/prints, and the peplum hem is such a fun flair as opposed to it being a basic tee. My mom saw me trying it on and ended up grabbing one for herself, too, since the cut is so flattering!
Moving onto the jeans. Levi’s denim is included in The Outfit Bar! At first, I thought about grabbing solid black jeans, but then I picked up these; the wash is unlike anything I have so far, with it being a light-to-medium wash with suuuuper light distressing just at the left knee. Levi’s have always been a go-to denim brand for me across retailers because they’re one of those brands that just work. I think I have 4 or 5 pairs now in all different styles, and they’re consistently well-made and good-fitting. (And they run TTS!) I finally got my mom into Levi’s, too, which she loveloveloved (and looked SO good in, might I had), so she was tickled pink that she a.) found jeans that fit and make her feel amazing, and b.) got ’em on sale. #BlessUp.
Lastly, ICYMI on Instastories, these woven mules are WHERE. IT’S. AT. YO.
They look nearly identical to a $100 pair that’s been circulating every blogger and her mom’s Instagrams lately…but they’re half the price. They were actually still on sale when I shared their sneak peek to my Instastories, too. Sales come and go at Kohl’s, so if they’re not on sale at the moment you read this post, hit the little “sale alert” button below to be notified if/when they go back on sale.
They’ve got this “Defined Comfort” technology in the shoes’ sole that essentially feels like a memory foam mattress under your feet, I kid you not. It’s this squishy padding at the heel, arch, AND toe area, so they’re more supportive than other mules may be with how flat this type of shoe typically runs. And they also come in black!
Have you shopped The Outfit Bar at Kohl’s yet?
