Happy FriYAY. The highlight of my week was getting back our 2022 family photos – always something I look forward to, being the memory-keeping crazy that I am. 😉 We used the service Shoott for the third year in a row now – you essentially get a *free* 30-minute photo session at a location from their list, and then pay $15 per photo for what you lovelovelove – or around $295 for the entire gallery (but I have a promo code for ya below that they give to everyone who uses them! Woo!). With having a young kiddo, this has been the BEST option for us; I’d have way too much anxiety trying to make it all go perfectly if we were dropping $500-1,000 on a family shoot, and I’d be way too bummed if it was just a set of bloopers if our then-two or three-year-old was being, you know, two or three. HA. My ideal is having it go as smoothly as possible for *all*, so I like having the freedom + flexibility to let Liv just be herself and stil get some cute candids in the mix.
With Shoott, you choose your day/time/location from their list, then you’re assigned a photographer the day before your session. Obviously a con might be not picking your photographer yourself, but you’re able to input details about your family and session needs (ie, we have a super energetic three-year-old! we have a dog! etc), so that they can match you with someone whose skills align.
I go into it fully planning on buying the entire gallery – and so far, it’s been 100% worth it. We got nearly 100 photos back for not even $300, which is A COMPLETE STEAL – tip your photographer well, folks! (And you can get 10% off your own gallery of 5+ photos with code C7CFEEF3 at checkout – you don’t actually have to use a code or anything to book since it’s free to do so!)
And just an FYI: I’m not working with Shoott – they have no idea who I am LOL – so I’m not affiliated with them in any way or receiving “kickback” if you sign up! Every single person who signs up for a session gets a follow-up email with a link/code to share with their friends in case they want to help spread the word, and since y’all are my friends – figured I’d help a sis out. 😉
I recommend preparing for your shoot with a Pinterest board of ideas + inspiration for shots, and being really open with your photographer about what style you look, any must-do shots, etc. It makes the process easier for all, and you’re more likely to get a whole gallery back of frameworthy favorites!
Withour further adieu…
