Let’s go through my trash! (*cue the theme song*) Another round of Beauty Empties is here – lots of makeup, hair care, skincare, + body care products that have been all used up. And, of course, my thoughts – would I repurchase? Do I recommend? Or was it something that didn’t even GET all used up because it was just that bad?? Let’s do the dang thing. BATH & BODY WORKS CREAMY BODY WASH IN WARM VANILLA SUGAR
What a throwback scent! Did you instantly smell the 8th grade?? HA. I had this in my stash, I think from a past gift. The smell is classic + a personal favorite, BUT I dislike that B&BWorks still has sulfates in their body washes. So for that reason, I don’t/won’t purchase myself – let’s all petition for some cleaner, sulfate-free formulas in the future!
DOVE INSTANT FOAMING BODY WASH IN SHEA BUTTER WITH WARM VANILLA
If you’re with me in the above boat – get this one instead! It’s sulfate-free with a similar scent as B&BW – super lovely. It also claims to get 250 pumps per bottle, and I only need about two pumps on my loufa. So you do the math – a solid 125 showers from one $9.99 bottle!
DOVE ADVANCED CARE CARING COCONUT ANTI-PERSPIRANT
I always swore I was *only* a Secret girl, but this Dove anti-perspirant is awesome. Granted, I’ve used it before (and even shared it here YEARS ago, holy throwback), but TBH I had forgotten how good it was until re-trying it recently. Was similarly effective for me!
COSTCO’S KIRKLAND DAILY FACIAL TOWELETTES
If I’m picky with lip treatments, I’m PICKY with makeup wipes. As in, usually I only like one. This one. That’s it. Everything else stinks. BUT I tried Costoc’s in-house brand on a whim and didn’t hate them! Yay! They’re still not better than my OG favorite, but they’re number two.
TULA BALANCING ACT PURIFYING & PH BALANCING TONER PADS
I reaaaaally wanted to love these. I’m SO BIG on toning pads, and the fact that these are pH-balancing with prebiotics/probiotics for tightening pores and purifying skin sold me.
But here’s the deal: the pads are flimsy. They’re SO thin, so I found them rolling up onto themselves when I’d go over my face. I know they’re made to be “featherweight” and are biodegradable (yay!), but I personally prefer a sturdier pad for application purposes for a product like this.
You get 60 pads for $36 ($30.60 with my code COMINGUPROSES), but I needed to use more than one pad to do my whole face. (Although they’re significantly more affordable than my other favorite glycolic peel pads).
Only the best. And AMAZING NEWS – they literally *just* launched an ADVANCED Dry Shampoo!!! Say what?! If you’re like me, you might be thinking, “But why fix what isn’t broken?!”
Here’s the deal: The original is my OG favorite dry shampoo. It’s the best of all time. It actually CLEANS your hair (versus just covering oil or dirt and sitting on your scalp all gritty and gross), delivers scent throughout the day, is safe for color AND chemically-treated hair, is silicone-free, etc. I ALWAYS have it stocked and just buy the jumbo size at this point to save some bucks in bulk.
But the Advanced one apparently has a more mild scent, has added conditioning benefits for more manageability + shine, balances sebum levels, provides pollution protection, and has no visible residue at all.
You know it’s not too often that I actually dislike a product SO MUCH that I cannot bear to finish it…and this was one of ’em. Not sure if it was just mine (always like to give the benefit of the doubt) or if it’s the formula as a whole, but it left this chalky white residue on my face, broke up on my skin, and did NOT prime for makeup. Especially since it’s so expensive, hard pass for me.
TOO FACED BETTER THAN SEX MASCARA
SUCH a good mascara! I have zero bad things to say about it, except that I’d rather pay $3 for a suuuuper similar look here. You’re welcome. 😉
L’OREAL VOLUMINOUS LASH PARADISE WATERPROOF LASH PRIMER
I ALWAYS (always always) go in with a lash primer before mascara anymore – I can’t really function without it. This one works similarly to the Lancome one that’s $20+ more!
Speaking of…also finished one of those bad boys. But really, I can’t see enough of a difference between this one and the above drugstore option to justify the price differential. So save yo’ dollars and grab the L’Oreal option instead!
PHYSICIANS FORMULA ROSE ALL STAY ILLUMINATING SETTING SPRAY
Lovelovelove that this setting spray is a.) alcohol-free, b.) antioxidant-packed, c.) pearluminous for a dewy glow, d.) enriched with rose water for soothing/calming/hydrating effects. It also claims to brighten + tighten your skin since it’s formulated with Kakadu Plum, which is apparently the RICHEST Vitamin C source of ANY fruit – which I did not know!!!
My only complaint here is that it’s not a bigger bottle. I’d take this in jumbo, please!
PHYSICIANS FORMULA BUTTER HIGHLIGHT in PEARL
Another PF beauty empty up in here! It’s no secret that I lovelovelove me the entire Butter collection – really, it’s the best. My *favorite* drugstore bronzer is the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. Favorite blush is the Butter Blush. And – you guessed it! – favorite highlight is the Butter Highlight. It’s just so creamy and fabulous and worth every penny!
This serum is a pretty penny, but worth it. I switch up serums often depending on what my skin is needing, but I went straight through this bottle because it was clearly doing something. It’s the brand’s #1 selling serum, and I can see why! (Fun fact: apparently one of these is sold every 5 seconds worldwide!).
It’s got 21 plant extracts inside and a double formula for optimization of all of the ingredients inside and does basically ALL THE THINGS – addressing all visible signs of aging, is softening, nourishing, hydrating, energizing, purifying + refining, eliminates toxins and dead skin cells, and generally supports the natural skin barrier.
WET N’ WILD WILD SHINE NAIL COLOR in BURGUNDY FROST
I could not even tell you the last time I used up a nail polish, like, ever! I think I moreso had a vendetta to finish it here. 😉 A pretty, shiny burgundy that’s basically the perfect shade for fall.
WINKY LUX ROSE GLIMMER BALM in Rose
This was a COOL product to me! It was a near-clear lip balm with glimmer inside, but tinted my lips to be a nice “perfect for me” shade of pink. I ended up purchasing a few other Winky Lux lip balms at Target after loving this one, but I didn’t like those as much.
PHYSICIANS FORMULA 24K GOLD COLLAGEN LIP SERUM
Besides feeling great on, this lip serum is actually an advance anti-aging formula with vegan collagen, 24-karat gold, and glycerin for moisturization + rejuvenation. I’m *picky* with my overnight lip treatments, but I’d re-purchase this one!
