Cool Sh*t I Lovelovelove – Monthly Favorites, May 2020

What a MONTH. May was full of so many highs and also so many lows for so many folks – I think it’s safe to say, bring on the summahtime. Bring on brighter, longer, happier days full of sunshine, margaritas on the deck, and *hopefully* the chance to safely see loved ones again. This month had big things in store for our little family, so let’s hop right in with some of ’em…

COOL SH*T I LOVELOVELOVE - Monthly Favorites on Coming Up Roses

1. BOOK + HOUSE

Two BIGGIES right outta the gate, so I just put ’em together here! May kicked off with these two big kahunas: the *official* release of Caffeinate Your Soul (YAY!), and us closing on our new house! Yay! I am so humbled + overjoyed at your reactions to CYS and just cannot believe how many of you have placed an order for a copy (or two!). The CURowd showed up SO STRONG and is sharing the lovelovelove with friends + family, buying copies as gifts – even starting bookclubs with your girlfriends, bridesmaids, etc! My hope +  prayer from the start was that Caffeinate Your Soul can be not just a book, but a practice – a tool to really help guide you through a year, so that you truly feel better, braver, and stronger.

And re: the house – it’s crazy! I can’t believe we managed to move during a global pandemic, but somehow we did it – and God’s timing is, of course and as always, better than our own.

2. Baby grand piano

This one is beyond surreal for me, friends. I kid you not, it was my dream since about age 7 to have my own baby grand piano some day. I’ve been playing piano since I was 5, and once I started performing in recitals and got a taste for playing the ~real deal~, there was no going back. Quick backstory: we grew up humbly/modestly, so my parents couldn’t afford to get a “real” piano when I first started taking lessons. Instead, we had a 52-key Casio keyboard that they plunked down in the kitchen. For perspective, “real” pianos have 88 keys that are weighted, so playing on this kinda keyboard is QUITE different since it feels totally different AND you’re literally missing keys! I eventually got to upgrade to a digital piano, but my sights were always set on a baby grand for “someday.”

Literally cried.

Played Hey Jude and cried.

3. Mom Life sweatshirt

This sweatshirt just keeps cycling between my body and the washing machine lately. I’ve been LIVING in it, no joke. It is so comfy soft – I bought a size Medium for a slightly more oversized fit (because that’s my favorite thing for sweats!). I have this light pink + leopard MAMA sweatshirt in my cart next, and am getting a matching one for Olivia!

ALSO ALSO, you can still get 15% off with code ERICA15 at checkout!

4. Best Yeti lookalike tumbler

I’m a sucker for good lookalikes, as you well know. 😉 This one is LEGIT – it’s got hot OR cold potential as it comes with both a leak-free straw lid AND a screw-in hot lid, and both do what they’re supposed to do just like a real Yeti does! I put ice cubes in my drink around 8 am and they were still there when I checked at 2 pm.

Also burnt my mouth hours after putting in a hot drink because it kept it THAT HOT. (So, note: put your drink in at the temperature you want to drink it, because the cup KEEPS it that temperature! Like fancy schmancy Starbucks people, but without draining your wallet every week 😉 ).

AND THE BEST PART: They’re only $20ish on Amazon Prime. Comes with both interchangeable, leak-free lids.

I have the 20 oz Sweet Taffy ombre pink/blue one!

5. Tula Face Filter – SUPERSIZED!

Tula Face Filter is no stranger to CUR. You already know how much I lovelovelove it since I’ve sung it’s praises in past Cool Sh*t AND have shared it in real time on my Instastories on multiple occasions. But since I’m not the only one who’s got a thing for it, Tula went ahead and SUPERSIZED it so that you get more bang for your buck – and not to mention, double the product.

I won’t beat a dead horse since the whole low down on Tula Face Filter is here (scroll down to #6!), but in short, it’s the bomb. Buildable formula, blurs your pores, adds slight tint, gives ya a glow. The whole nine yards of what you WANT, especially for “no-makeup” days or summertime skin, without any bad ingredients. (Au contraire, it’s got loads of GOOD ingredients, like probiotics + superfoods for balancing and nourishing your skin!).

The original size of Tula Face Filter is normally $34 for a 1 ounce tube. This supersized version is $54 for two ounces (so, already a better price for double the product, since it’s $54 instead of $68), and my discount code can bring it down to $45.90. AND that gets free shipping, too. So the Supersized version is reaaaaaally worth it, friends!

Don’t forget: You can always drop code COMINGUPROSES at checkout to get 15% off your Tula order! And if your order total is $40+, you’ll get free shipping, too. 🙂

6. Liv’s splash pad

I’ve been excited to break this bad boy out in the yard since I bought it in March. Knowing Liv, it just seemed like the perfect thing for a particularly hot afternoon – and sure enough, mama knew best. 😉 We busted it out a few weeks back on the hottest day of the year thus far and she was OBSESSED. You just hook your hose up to it and it fills the “pad” area with a bit of water (it doesn’t inflate fully like a pool inflatable, but the edge especially gets a bit padded!), and then as water flows from the hose into it it creates little fountain sprays all around the edge!

Olivia was tickled pink and has so much fun splashing around in it. I’ve already bought one for one of my girlfriend’s kids and will probably stock up on a few more for toddler gifting because WHO DOESN’T LIKE A GOOD SPLASH PAD?!?

7. Mimosa and Coconut Water all-purpose cleaner and body wash

Hands down, the best-smelling all-purpose cleaner I’ve ever smelled in the history of ever.

And then I found it in shower gel form, so I got it.

And THEN I found it in lotion form, which is next on my list to buy!

Really, I wish I could just hold this up to your nose through the screen and let you take a big fat inhale, because it smells THAT GOOD. I mean, Coconut Water & Mimosa Flower. Does that not just SOUND divine?! When we clean countertops with this stuff, the house smells glorious. The body wash is sulfate-free etc, too!

8. Our new fridge!

In moving, we had to get a new fridge – so we got this one! While I DO NOT recommend shopping directly through Samsung (we had a nightmare experience), I can 100% recommend the fridge we chose. 🙂 It’s fabulously spacious, but probably my FAVORITE feature is the fact that shelves are shiftable. You can move certain shelves around or lift them up entirely to make room for taller items, which is CLUTCH For us since we were previously always laying things down to make sure Liv’s milk, our milk (she drinks whole, we drink skim), OJ, two coffee creamers, and any other juice or iced tea jug all fit in there.

There are also two humidity-adjustable compartments for fruits + veggies, as well as a “deli pantry” drawer with adjustable temps for meats/cheeses/etc. ACTUALLY, both the fridge and freezer are temperature-adjustable, so you can keep everything at your preferred temp. Which feels SO boujie in and of itself, like we’re those people who show up at Starbucks like “I want my latte at precisely 157.5 degrees and not one degree more” – ha!

So if you’re in the market for a fridge and are considering this one, go through Home Depot here or Lowe’s – not through the brand itself. Customer service was terrible with our other orders; we got a washer/dryer through them, too, and after the dryer was incorrectly installed, causing a gas leak that necessitated the local fire department’s help, they refused to help us and then delayed anyone coming out to fix it, where we had to pay a plumber to make it happen in the end. And from what I’ve heard from y’all via Instastories, you’ve had similarly nightmarish Samsung experiences. The CURowd has spoken: Avoid Samsung directly.

9. Green Mountain Wild Blueberry K-cups

We’ve had Green Mountain coffee before and more often than not have some of their coffees under our roof, but the wild blueberry was new to me, so I just had to try a box at the store! And now…always re-buying. It’s got a great, distinct fruity flavor without being too sweet and combines GREAT with my fave light natural vanilla or sweet cream creamers, so it’s a more unique twist on my daily cups. 🙂

10. Glow Habit happy hair vitamins

I first tried these vitamins when they came in a press package and was blown away instantly by the SMELL. Some vitamins smell…horrible. I mean, you know the ones. You open the bottle and it’s like someone thought of the most repulsive smell they could and thought YUP, let’s make them gag down this sucker. HA. But if I’m taking something every single day, Lord knows I’d prefer to *not* be choking down something that tastes like weird medicine or fish.

I kid you not…these smell AND taste *exactly* like strawberry fruit roll ups.

No worries…they’re not loaded in sugar.

But they’re DELISH. I’ve tried the Happy Skin ones by this same brand that are guava-flavored, and they’re yummy, too! But these strawberry hair ones have me hooked. You’ll never forget to take your vitamins again.

Inside is Biotin, Vitamin E, and Bamboo extract, all of which support healthy hair growth. And it’s only 5 bucks for a bottle!
