Christmas is THIS WEEK, y’all. Where the heck has time gone?! Santa, I’ve been real good. I’ll take a Kate Spade gift card. 😉
We’ve been unveiling our house tour room-by-room as our house becomes a home; today I’m sharing our guest room! I lovelovelove our guest room because it is #Blessed with natural light. We’re slowly but surely turning it into a little abode for guests, and I’m really diggin’ the progress. So if any of y’all come stay the night, consider this home. 😉
Also, for anyone who follows me on Instagram…you might recognize this as the hotspot for mirror #ootd pics!

We left the original carpeting and wall color when we bought the house – I went with a black-and-white theme for all of the decor to pop against the pretty teal carpet. The two wall art pieces I actually found at Burlington on a whim, and I snatched ’em up instantly because they’re the key statement pieces to tie the whole shebang together – the black, white, tealish green, and then a pop of pink just because. 😉
The black standing lamp was mine in college, and the mirror was in J’s old apartment, so we’re basically using the guest room as the place to stay grounded to our roots – haha!

We JUST got new pieces in here, so I’m stoked to share ’em with y’all today. If you’ve caught other room unveilings, you probably noticed that much of our home is from Raymour and Flanigan. J and I had one near his old place, so we would just spend solid Friday night datenights testing out couches on the showroom floor. But we kept going back, cos Raymour and Flanigan was always the most organized place – without a doubt. We walked into another showroom of a different retailer and immediately left – it was just overwhelmingly disorganized and chaotic! From the get go, we were just so impressed with the merchandising of Raymour and Flanigan stores – they seriously make every single room space look live-in ready + beautiful! It’s easy to shop, easy to envision in your own life, and easy to take your time without being totally hounded by store associates. 😉 I’m partnering with them now to share this room specifically – even though it’s not the last you’re seeing, it’s one of the last to be actually put together to a point of readiness!
Our bedding set was a Walmart find when we first moved in and basically lived in Walmart and Target. I had a super specific vision in mind for black and white; this bedding is ivory, so I *might* change it out at some point to be all stark white and black.

I’m SUCH a fan of a versatile table lamp – it’s clear and classy and matches basically anything. #BlessUp. Both of our picture frames were steals at either Burlington or HomeGoods. And those three little jars were leftover favor jars from our wedding! We had a candy bar where everyone took their jar (which had a cute lil’ poem inside), to fill it up with their favorite sweet treats. It went over *super* well, and I loved the fact that guests could reuse their jars afterwards, just like this!
The first jar has cough drops inside, the second has mini packets of Advil, and the third has breath mints. I figured each was something that could come in handy for guests during an overnight stay, and it’s easy to just have on hand if needed.

Pumpkin loveloveloves the guest bed, so she’s always hanging out there during the day. We actually just got a new mattress for this room too, from a company called Tuft & Needle – didja catch my Snapchat unboxing of it?? (I’m erica_lig on Snapchat – come follow along!). I was SUPER skeptical about getting a mattress online without having, yannno, sat or laid down on it first…but this one From Tuft & Needle takes the cake. It shows up rolled in this tight burrito packaging, and as soon as you cut off that plastic wrapping, it starts expanding like those sponge animals you had as a kid. EPIC. And honest to goodness, it might be the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. I have NO IDEA how they do it, but To the point where J wanted to sneak out our master bedroom mattress for this one. But I wouldn’t let him, cos our guests get the good stuff. 😉 The best parts: Tuft & Needle offers free shipping, a 100-night sleep trial, a 10-year (!!!) no hassle warranty, and any/all returns are donated to local charities and non-profits across the country. How cool is that?!
How would you decorate a guest room? Have you ever shopped at Raymour and Flanigan?
I’d lovelovelove to know. I still plan on doing a full blown gallery wall on the last open wall…so stay tuned for that on Instagram. 😉 Also, drop your favorite home decor + furniture joints in the comments section! Besides our “big” furniture, we shopped everything from off price retailers (like Burlington and Homegoods) to little decor boutiques and Etsy shops for the random, personal pieces and decorative touches.
Any recommendations what to add to make a guest room feel comfy and cozy like home?
