Happy Monday, girlfriend! How was your weekend? I’m V STOKED about today’s post, since we’re styling leather leggings a few different ways in this lil’ fall lookbook of sorts. Do you have leather leggings yet? My favorite are , justbecause they do #AllTheThings.
Are they pricier? Yes.
Are they worth it? …yes.
I picked ’em up in last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, justbecause I had heard the hype and drank the Koolaid. I had no clue how leather leggings could be worth the splurge, but HERE WE ARE, folks. Here we are.
They do a fabulous job of sucking ya in (without making ya feel suffocated) and just making ya feel very streamlined + smooth. Which might sound weird…but if ya know ya know. And it works! Also, they’re warm. Not sure what exactly it is about ’em, but they work from fall into winter because they really do keep heat in! I’ve been a big fan of leather leggings lately, too, since our life involves continuous runs back-and-forth to the NICU for Olivia. Ain’t nobody got time for anything too elaborate – these work to dress up or down, so I can be a bit more glam for work or meetings, but then throw on a crewneck + Uggs for a hospital run.
So today, we’re styling leather leggings six different ways for the season. Basically, a look for everyday…and then a day of rest. 😉
LOOK #1
// (exact sweater sold out so fast! Almost identical option that I also have + lovelovelove, and it’s quiiiiiite a bit cheaper!) // (code erica15 for a CUR-exclusive discount! As seen in these Monthly Favorites!) // (on sale for $15.20!) // Gucci belt lookalike //
This is a total go-to look for me right about now! I lovelovelove a good girly-edgy combo; the all black layers underneath feel edgier, while the leopard print feels like a girlier addition to tie it all together.
Also featured: my fave Gucci belt lookalike, that’s under $20.
LOOK #2
// (old from Forever 21, similar ) // (c/o – these are SO comfy for running around!) // (shade: Bawse)
Leather leggings are the easiest way to jazz up an otherwise basic look! At its core, this outfit is pretty basic:
- Flannel shirt, black leggings, slip-on sneakers.
Jazz it up by swapping out basic black leggings for leather leggings since they look a bit more put-together, and add a lippy to match your flannel. VOILA. Suddenly looks like you tried a lot more than you really did. 😉
LOOK #3
// (on sale for $15.20!) // // //
Another go-to look for this mama! Layers on layers on layers is the name of the game here. I started with my fave long-sleeved striped tee, added my cashmere poncho (which made it to October’s Favorites!). The leather leggings + over-the-knee boots in all-black on the bottom keep it classy + help elongate your legs. And I’m a big fan of balance; a looser top pairs so well with something tighter on the bottom. That way, you’re not too baggy OR too snug – you’re juuuuuuust right. 🙂
Lovelovelove this look, since it works for SO many occasions – from running errands around town to date night!
LOOK #4
// (code erica15 for a CUR-exclusive discount – As seen in these Monthly Favorites!) // (as seen in our best white t-shirt contest…only $5.88!!!!) // Suede moto jacket // Boots (old from Target, more lace-up boots )
Started with basics on the bottommost layer here: a good white t-shirt + leather leggings. This suede moto jacket is SO well-made and lasts for seasons, so it’s definitely a solid staple in your fall closet. My boots are from a few seasons ago from Target, but in theory, try pairing browns on top + bottom here to bookend the black leather leggings in the middle. The key: Make sure your browns are different enough in shade/hue to not clash with the black. If they’re too dark, you risk looking like you tried to match blacks and just…missed. Ha! 😉
LOOK #5
// (currently on sale for 40% off!) // // (40% off !)
And suddenly, black leggings just got a whole. lot. dressier. 🙂 This feels polished enough for a fancier night out fosho, which I lovelovelove (since it’s still comfy AF). I paired with + fun pumps for something unexpected. Heels don’t always work with leggings since it very much depends on the TYPE of legging. But since these are leather leggings made to look more dressed up, I think it works!
LOOK #6
// (c/o) // //
Keepin’ it casual for running errands with style. 😉 Featuring one of my fave crewneck sweatshirts right about now (as seen in this Monthly Favorites post!), + little white sneakers! Do you say “sneakers” or “tennis shoes”??? Leather leggings have a more polished feel than your go-to basic black pair, so it feels a bit less like wearing sweats out and about and more like you tried and just managed to still keep it cozy.
Have you picked up leather leggings yet this season?
Which of these looks is your favorite?
Hope your Monday is nothing short of magical – CHRISTMAS IS COMING. 😉
