Can I get a SHELL YEAH to a weeklong vacay with an ocean view at the Jersey shore??? It felt soooo good to get away for a hot sec with the fam, to soak up some sunshine and stock up on our vitamins (that’s vitamin D + vitamin SEA 😉 ). In the spirit of focusing on health, we took every precaution possible during the pandemic to have a *safe* beach trip – and, fun fact, apparently going to the beach is one of the safest “usual” summer activities to do, with the constant motion, social distancing, and flowing sea air! Our family of three + my parents hit up Ocean City New Jersey, where we’ve gone for a few years now. We have family friends that own the quaintest little beach house there that they inherited from their parents a few decades ago, so it’s a cute place to rent for a week away.
Dropping in today to share a few photos from my iPhone, and to round up all of my swimsuits, accessories, must-haves, + Liv’s beach gear for any of you with sandy plans on the horizon.
NOTE: I stayed TTS with all of my swimmies! The only one that’s not full coverage on the bottom is the polka dot bikini down below. If you’ve got any other sizing Q’s – because I know swimsuit shopping can be a pain in the BUTT – feel free to reach out to my anytime! I’m an open book and always happy to help. 🙂
This scalloped one-piece is so unique – I fell in lovelovelove the second I saw it online! It’s under $30 + a great “mom suit” that still feels SO chic. That plum color is my fave!
These elastic heart-eyed sunnies + strawberry beach shoes might look familiar…they’re some Cool Sh*t I Lovelovelove. 😉 Two MUSTS for babies at the beach! These sunnies are the best since they stay ON your babe’s face, and Liv actually enjoys wearing them. We bought both colors and she’s rocked ’em all summer long!
Then these pool shoes…they’re SO GOOD OMG. Olivia has been wearing them when we’re just hanging in my parent’s little pool, too, because for running around outside and avoiding rocks, splinters, etc – they’re great! But for the beach – wow. Totally perfect, and totally cute!
This one-piece makes me feel fully like the fiesta girl emoji. 😉 Many of the swimmies I brought on our Ocean City New Jersey getaway were more modest swimsuits from this year’s affordable swimmy haul, namely because if/when I’m running around after the OG or moving around a lot, ain’t nobody got time for wardrobe malfunctions. This one’s around 28 bucks!
Two big shout-outs in order here. 1.) THIS HAT!!!! WOW oh wow, am I obsessed. Favorite beach hat I’ve ever owned, hands down. It’s not a floppy hat, obviously, but I think it’s even more chic – and definitely more comfortable for all-day wear. It’s affordable, flexible, and protective against the sun. I wore mine nearly every single day, except on the suuuuper windy days.
My sunnies look juuuuuust like Ray-bans – but for under $10! Bless up + add to cart.
This retro polka dot one-piece is a favorite of the season. The straps are detachable if you prefer going strapless, but I’m always more comfortable with security up top!
And how wild (+ also retro) are these sunnies?!?! I saw a girlfriend of mine wearing them on Instagram and instantly added to my Amazon cart. They’re extra, but so am I. 😉 Sorta got Elton John vibes happenin’ here, but I’m a fan. They’re just so dang FUN!
Liv’s cute little lemon suit here is from Target’s Cat & Jack line, where I actually think MOST of her swimmies are from! Big fan of the little ruffle sleeves here for a little added sun protection.
This ruffled polka dot bikini is high-waisted, which is always much appreciated. This is the only suit of the bunch here that’s NOT fuller coverage in the back, so just FYI – it’s cheekier! Also at it again with this beach hat!
As for my other accessories, shoutout to my faves at The Sis Kiss, where my dainty gold “erica” necklace is from – I alternate between it and my other customized name necklace that says “Olivia” every single day! They so graciously passed along discount code “ERICA15” for you to get a sweet deal, too. 🙂 Makes a FABULOUS gift for any lady in your life, whether that’s a best friend, new mama, bridesmaid, you name it!
Then this is the little ear cuff I’ve been wearing – I’m soooo into ear cuffs and have worn one nearly always since high school. Such a chic, edgier little piece, minus all of the pain that comes with a real piercing there. 😉
Ocean City New Jersey was a great place to socially distance, too, especially as the week went on. It was noticeably more crowded on the weekends, expectedly so, but there was room to breaaaaaaathe during the week. We got great pizza from Piccini’s and fabulous Mexican takeout from Cinco de Mayo, both of which I’d recommend!
Lastly, this swimmy – a favorite for years now! A reaaaaally good option for staying PUT; I’ve worn everywhere from Ocean City New Jersey to indoor waterparks on waterslides and it doesn’t go anywhere. Also full coverage on the bottom!
Have you been to Ocean City New Jersey before?
What’s your own family vacation hot spot? Any favorites?
