So maybe we’re not all booking tropical vacations or planning road trips to the beach right about now…but a girl can dream amiright? 😉 I swear there’s something about picking up a new swimsuit or two that gets ya all ready to hit the sun, sand and surf and let your worries melt away with the sound of crashing waves. As we hope for better days ahead + dream about summer vacations that might be, I wanted to share some of the swimmies that I recently got in the name of #research for you all! I’ve always been a big big fan of comfort when it comes to swimsuits. There’s a time to get comfortable being UNcomfortable and trying on swimsuits ain’t it. 😉
So all of the swimmies in this haul are affordable, but also comfortable, moveable, and a bit more on the modest swimsuit side of things. (They also all have cups inside, FYI). Sure, some are a bit cheekier than others – but in general, I personally prefer swimsuits that let me move around, chase Liv, and just do my thaaang without worrying about a nip slip or a wedgie or some other wardrobe malfunction. When you’re already wearing minimal clothing, who the heck wants to worry about any of that?! Not I, my friend. Not I. I want to look good and FEEL good, too.
Also, I’ve said it before but it’s always worth the reminder, especially this time of year…
Every body is a beach body.
Especially now, some folks are swearing by at-home workouts because #NoExcuses, and others are swearing by six hours of Netflix. And both are OKAY. You don’t need to have a six-pack to wear a bikini, and you don’t need to be a mom to rock a one-piece, and you don’t need to have cellulite-free thighs to run Baywatch-style on the shoreline. I’ve got cellulite myself and rolls under my butt cheeks and it’s all OKAY. I don’t retouch my photos ever because I never want to be contributing to the already-negative picture that society tends to paint of women achieving + maintaining “perfection” that’s just not real.
The only thing happenin’ here is that I just applied self-tanner because I bought a new one – and since a decade had passed since my last Oompa Loompa experience, I figured I was older and wiser and ready to give it another go. 😉 A before/after/review coming soon!
Now here are a few of the affordable, comfortable, more modest swimsuits that I found as of late – stay tuned to my instastories @ericaligenza today for a try-on of them all in real time with tips on sizing, how they move, etc!
P.S. For more affordable swimmies, modest swimsuits and everything in between, check out last season’s Amazon swimsuits haul – most are still fully stocked and under $30!
OH ALSO before we jump right in, everything has cups and I’m wearing size Small across the board. I’m 5’7″ and generally wear a 2 or 4 in bottoms and Small in tops, for reference, but if you have any more in-depth sizing Q’s on any specific swimmies, always feel free to leave a comment, shoot me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org), DM me, etc! HERE FOR YOU, GF. 🙂
1. Red ruffle one-piece – $27.99
If the fiesta girl emoji hit the pool! 😉
2. Black/white one-piece – Under $25
This fun but modest swimsuit was a favorite last year, so I picked it up in black/white, too! I’m curious how the white top will fair when wet since the pads are a *bit* visible here, but if you’re worried about that, grab the pink, blue, or orange/yellow option instead!
3. Black bow bikini – Under $32
This might be my FAVORITE bikini of the bunch! It’s not the most modest swimsuit in the haul, but it still feels cute for running around comfortably. The top stays put and the bottoms aren’t cheeky. They aren’t as high-waisted as me as on the model, but I DO have a longer torso.
4. White/lime one-piece – $89
The priciest one in the haul, but a good modest swimsuit that’s still ultra-flattering! I fully appreciate LOOKING like I have boobs when I don’t. HA. While it’s the most expensive, you really can tell in the quality. It’s made WELL and will undoubtedly last multiple seasons!
5. Knotted one-piece – $48 (extra 15% off with code ERICA15)
Lovelovelove this fun knotted one-piece because it feels different! Also made really well.
6. Sailor two-piece – $24.99
LoveloveLOVE this bikini, too! The straps are a cute halter tie, and the high-waisted bottoms ARE cheekier on this one, FYI…probably the cheekiest swimmy of the haul. Feels like a cross between sailor chic + Minnie Mouse!
7. Polka dot one-piece – Under $25
This one’s got removable straps, although I will say I don’t think it would stay up on it’s own sans straps. Also better for bigger-busted girls (at least, bigger busted than me!) because there is some space between the underboob area and my body.
8. Red one-shoulder one-piece – $27.99
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this one since it’s probably one of the MOST modest swimsuits of the bunch (+ in my collection period), but I lovelovelove it. It feels v streamlined + chic and DEF stays put, so it’d be great if you’ve got a really active vacation on the books and need to be/feel secure!
9. Gingham two-piece – $27.99
Was SO pleasantly surprised at this little gingham number – it feels so fun! Not the best for intensive activities since the off-shoulder sleeves would bunch up over your shoulder if you’re raising your hands above your head a lot, but otherwise stays put + is SO CUTE. High-waisted, fuller coverage bottoms, too!
10. Polka dot one-piece – Under $25
Same spiel as the other polka dot one piece above – removable straps, but probably wouldn’t stay up without ’em. But this one isn’t loose at all at the bust (you can adjust the bust area anyway with the front-knot-tie, but I had tied the swimmy above as tight as possible and still had the room, for reference!). This feels a bit retro and I’m HERE FOR IT.
11. Plum ruffled one-piece – $29.99
This one has removable straps that *would* stay up by themselves; it’s also got pads and underwire at the bust for support. Great modest swimsuits option that’s still super cute, and definitely moves well for poolside activities!
