TGIF, friends!!! Who’s ready for the weekend??? *all raise hands wildly* This week has been a long one, but it’s also been a sunny + warm one fina-freakin-lly, so I cannot complain one bit. Last night I got to hit up the Philadelphia Wine Fest with my friends at Lexus (LOL, can someone plz hook a girl up with her own Lexus? Asking for a friend. Actually LOL JK totally asking for me.). It was such a ~delightful~ evening – we picked up a few bottles to take home, and enjoyed so. much. yummy. food from all sortsa local Philly resturants + vendors.
Also I got to drive a Lexus for the week, and now…I want one. Hit the goal, Get the Gucci just got upgraded to GET THE LEXUS, BABY!!!! #goals.
This weekend, my little brother is graduating from college. From COLLEGE. Guess he’s not too little anymore?! *all the tears* He’s a friggin’ smartypants and made Deans’ List all 8 semesters as an electromechnical engineer, so I’m so proud of him…he’s also single, so hit him up, ladies. 😉 It’ll be a fun Cinco de Mayo celebrating him! Ole!
Excited to share this fun little weekend wear number with y’all that I shot in Sale Lake City recently. It was such an easy outfit to throw on and go, which is pretty much my FAVORITE kinda outfit! The formula is a pretty darn easy one to replicate for spring weekend wear, so I’ve hooked ya up with deets below.
(One of my all-time favorite purchases of the season! Runs BIG, so size down one – I’m wearing an XS and it’s still a bit oversized!) // (This exact dress cut also comes in other colors/patterns – gingham, solids, florals, the works! Linking them all below!) // // Rebecca Minkoff bag (clearance find that’s sold out now!) // (DIFF is SUCH a cool sunglasses company because for every pair purchased, they donate a pair of reading glasses to someone in need! Get an extra 25% off your fave pair with code ERICA25 at checkout!) // (shade: “Russian Red”) //
THE LITTLE FLORAL DRESS
I’ve gotten the most absurdly cute little spring dresses from Express this season (Express, and the LOFT!). This one in particular is SO perf for weekend wear, because it dresses down and up both effortlessly. The v-cut, the ruffles, the hemline – it’s all fun and flirty and festive. The neckline/hemline keeps it flirty, the ruffles keep it fun, the floral print keeps it festive! It’s the perfect spring weekend wear formula. 😉
The #1 key with good weekend wear, I think, is ensuring that it’s versatile enough to work for whatever comes up. Weekends can be unpredictable (in a good way!), with everything from a last-minute brunch invite to a surprise date. Ain’t nobody got time to switch looks 5 times! Something easy + breezy, but cute AND comfortable can be harder to come by, since that’s a helluvah lotta boxes to check off. But a little floral dress like this one can really do the trick! Add heels to be perfect for everything from a girls’ night out to date night, or sneakers for just running quick errands during the day (like me – hollah!).
Also, if floral ain’t yo’ thaaaang, Express made this same exact cut (which I just lovelovelove for spring!) in approximately 52 colors/patterns, from denim to stripes to pretty white eyelet (which I also have and heart!).
THE FUN STATEMENT JACKET
I am SO insanely glad I bought this, you guys! I knew I wanted to get my money’s worth out of it – and I figured I would – but I’ve been wearing it TO DEATH. It goes with anything + everything and it’s just so dang chic, it dresses up any outfit and adds a bit more chic! I swear EVERY single time I’ve worn it, I’ve been stopped and complimented. It’s a literal showstopper, y’all! I had never seen anything like it before, so it’s definitely a fun, trendy-but-classic take on the iconic jean jacket.
The lightwash denim is a better jacket for spring, too, because it’s lighter in color and material than other more fall-esque options (like leather or dark suede jackets, etc.). And since spring has sprung but not fully leveled out temperature-wise, a light jacket is still good to have on hand justincase – whether it gets breezier outside, or the AC is jacked up INSIDE.
I found a few other fun statement jacket options that are spring-ready – lovelovelove the fun assortment of colors + textures showing this season!
THE EASY WHITE SNEAKERS
Every girl needs at LEAST one pair of little white kicks in her closet. One…or three, like me. 😉 I’ve got these little Converse, my Adidas Superstars, and then my newest pair from Jack Purcell (which is actually a Converse brand, I believe) that I lovelovelove.
I strongly believe that a good white sneaker is a ride or die staple in a girl’s closet. Dress a dressy look down or a casual look up! I have a few since they’re each slightly different shapes, which work better for different looks. My Adidas Superstars, for example, are a little chunkier, so they look better paired with boyfriend jeans or other “chill,” casual outfits. Whereas my Jack Purcells and Converse Shorelines are thinner + daintier and look better with bare legs or dressed up, so I can easily wear ’em with a dress or skirt and make it work.
Tip: Make sure you clean your sneaks after each wear to keep ’em pearly white! 😉
