Two Ways to Wear SEQUINS for the Holidays

TGIF, friends! It’s officially the sparkliest day of the week, so it’s only fitting to break out the sparkliest ensembles. 😉  Last week I ordered a BUNCH of pieces for the holidays from Walmart’s website, because a.) , and b.) they’re actually affordable. Especially for flashier, dressier pieces that you might only get to wear a few times when ’tis the season, ain’t nobody got time to drop a few paychecks on a new sparklier skirt. Don’t get me wrong – I lovelovelove a good glam look. But I DON’T love feeling like I just invested in something that I’m only going to wear once or twice a year. I bought more than I expected to keep, because typically in any bigger online order, SOMETHING is bound to not fit the best or not look the greatest…right? Welp, apparently WRONG. I bought maybe 10 things and all 10 were winner winner chicken dinners. I already shared one TOTAL knockout (+ affordable) holiday look earlier this week, so I’m cramming in two more easy seasonally appropriate outfits today! (+ probably more to come, because they’re too good to NOT share with you girls!)

TWO Ways to Wear Sequins for the Holidays - Affordable Holiday Looks from Walmart on Coming Up Roses

We talked about this earlier in the week, but the key to getting the best deals + steals from Walmart’s fashion is really to shop it all online. While I’ve definitely found some good stuff in-store before (I scored the infamous $12 fells-like-cashmere sweater in my local store before it even hit the web!), the best selection in pieces AND sizing is always online. Plus, Walmart has both 2-day and even NEXT DAY shipping eligibility for certain items, which is even better than a certain online powerhouse that rhymes with Schmamazon Schmime. 😉 I ordered my entire loot of holiday pieces and then some on a Wednesday night and they were on my doorstep by Friday.

Beyond that, Walmart now carries certain brands ONLY online.

OK OK stepping off that soapbox and onto today’s hot topic: sequins.

Today we’re talking TWO ways to wear sequins for the holidays. Especially good for the gal who has always wanted to TRY sequins or sparkle, but has maybe felt it to be a bit *much*. Both of these looks are a.) absurdly affordable (all from Walmart, so you KNOW it’s the best price guarantee!), and b.) actually wearable. Don’t get me wrong: your girl loveloveloves a good sequin. In my dream world, I’m rocking sequins left and right on a random Tuesday to the dentist. But really, it’s not realistic for all of us (myself included), and come Christmas, it can feel a bit scary to see a bright red sequin skirt hanging in your closet.

Each of these looks is more approachable, I think, and comfortable. When stepping outside yourstyle comfort box, actually comfortability is key. So here we’ve got jeans that fit like a glove and a dress that’s got stretch, and it’s all a good time…without breaking the bank (bless up).

Let’s dive in!

Look #1 is ideal for something like a more casual Christmas party. You want to be festive, but you don’t want to scream Santa’s Helper in TOO much. Sequins can feel like a lot in general, so good dark denim can keep the look classy and dressy without being too overboard.

is my second pair of these jeans – another Walmart find!!! You’ve heard me sing their praises before, namely because they fit like a glove and are made from recycled bottles. LIKE, WHAT?! How freaking cool! Beyond that…they’re on sale for $14.99 right now. I was wearing them out with my mom last week and she couldn’t stop talking about them. They look FABULOUS on – flattering in all the right places – and feel so so good. Really, they feel just as good as the $50+ jeans in my closet. I would never in a million years put these at 15 bucks if you asked me to guess their price. Snag a pair before the world catches onto how great these are and they sell out, seriously!!!

I was unsure about at first, because it’s called a “crop top.” And I have a lovelovelove/hatehatehate relationship with crop tops. 😉 The wrong crop top can feel like a 90’s party gone wrong, or like a frat party, or like being 12. All a hot mess express. Thankfully, fits TTS in a way that doesn’t crop over your belly button – it grazes the top of high-waisted denim (like the ones I’m wearing). Also comes in black!

again – absolutely ADORE. 100% recommend. They’re a great classic black pump option, don’t hurt at all, work with literally any outfit (pants, dress, skirt, etc), and are on sale for not even 18 bucks. Katie bought them the second she saw ’em in my post earlier this week with another fabulous holiday look from Walmart!

OK NEXT UP.

Look #2. Another affordable gem.

Look #2 is a good time.

sold out SO FAST I did a double take, but for good reason. It’s TOTALLY stretchy, which is Jingle bells to my ears when holiday meals are on the table. 😉 Plus, it’s a subtle sequin for a more subtle sparkle, which is great for a less-bold statement that still stands out for the season. Sign up for an in-stock alert because I’ve got a goooood feeling it’ll be restocked for the holidays, especially since it’s so popular!

are, again, this pair that I shared awhile back. Still cannot BELIEVE that they have them at Walmart (online) – and on sale for $65 instead of the original $110 pricetag.

I lovelovelove this outfit for a holiday party. Layer with a leather jacket, festive cardigan, or jean jacket for a dressed down look.

SO YES. Really, cannot recommend Walmart’s selection right now enough, especially for the holidays. GREAT pieces, great prices. Enough said. 😉

How would you wear sequins for the holidays?

Which of these festive looks is your favorite: #1 or #2?
