I can see clearly now… #JustGotMyZennis

Your eyes are the windows to your soul.

Good ol’ Shakespeare knew what was up with that one, amiright?

I’ve always been a big eyes girl. Eyes (+ smiles) were #1 while dating, eye contact was of the utmost importance always, and I’ve loveloveloved playing with eye makeup since I was in the third grade (and got made fun of for it, but what do bullies know – ha!).

As soon as Olivia was born, I was anxious to see her eye color; would they be big + suuuuuper dark brown like her mama, or would a recessive blue swim through the gene pool?

While everyone is stocking up on furry earmuffs + pom pom beanies this time of year, you don’t hear much about swapping out another kinda headgear: GLASSES. Funny, since statistically speaking, 6 of every 10 folks wear glasses. And since playing up my eyes has always been a big thing for me, I’m SO STOKED to be teaming up with one of my favorites to share some of the *coolest* glasses on planet Earth.

I first heard of Zenni around a family dinner table. My aunt was telling everyone how she + my uncle had both gotten new glasses recently. They had been so absurdly affordable, they each bought two pairs. I’m sorry…what? Last time I checked, most glasses cost an arm and a leg (+ an eyeball – ha!)…and you’re lucky to get a new pair if/when insurance covers it, since ain’t nobody got time for $300+ eyeglasses.

Enter, Zenni.

Zenni is all about making glasses *affordable* without sacrificing quality at all in lens OR frame. They’re entirely online as a company, so they can dedicate their resources all to your glasses + your actual shopping experience. No worries re: trying glasses on before buying. Try ’em on virtually by uploading a photo of yourself. When you’re set on a style/color, you just input your prescription info and VOILA. Donezo. But no worries if you’re nervous trying to make heads or tails of your prescription; the website has little question marks next to data entry boxes, to walk you through exactly what information goes where. Initially, measuring myself felt like the most intimidating task, right behind changing a diaper for the first time ever. But once you just go for it…easy peasy (and poop-free – ha! 😉 ). And Zenni walks you through exactly how to measure your PD (or pupillary distance, AKA, how far apart your eyes are from each other), too! ALSO, their support team is seriously impressive. As soon as I placed my order and received my confirmation email, I realized I put in one of my prescription numbers wrong – whoops, I blame mom brain. 😉 I called ’em up right away in the hopes of correcting it, and within I kid you not 30 seconds, it was all resolved, no problemo. They’ve got a number to call, email, AND a live chat 24/7, so everyone and their mom is there to help walk you through the ordering process online.

Never before have I been this obsessed with my glasses – let alone equally torn between two pairs. Over the years, my lenses have run the gamut: purple, black, navy blue ombre, square, circular, rose tortoise. You name it, I’ve seen it (or rather, seen THROUGH it 😉 ). I wanted to mix it up, tho, and figured it would be fun to try something trendier – especially since there’s basically zero risk when shopping through Zenni, between virtual try-on and the overall affordability of glasses!

SO.

First up, clear frames.

I knew I wanted to give clear lenses a go for AWHILE, but was always too chicken to pull the trigger! Plus, I just wasn’t sure if I could pull ’em off. My face is longer + my eyes are obviously darker, so I had no clue how they would really look on me. But, I’m SO stoked with how they turned out – they feel so friggin’ cool to wear, and they match anything + everything.

My exact pair is style #2020123, if you’re a fan for yourself!

And my personal favorite part: Zenni’s custom engraving! You can get something etched into either arm for $1.95, so I got my favorite Bible verse engraved on the inside arm as a good reminder whenever I put my glasses on.

P.S. Get custom engraving fo’ FREE today with code MERRYMONDAY!

Next up, gold foil frames.

I was praying to the sweet Lord Baby Jesus that these would look as cool as I thought they could/would and not look like a cheesy disco ball on my face, and HE IS FAITHFUL. #BlessUp.

This second pair is style #7814614. On both pairs, I upgraded my lenses to Anti-Reflection Coating and the Premium oil + fingerprint resistant option, since girlfriend is reaaaaal good at ending the day looking like her glasses were passed around a kindergarten class. It makes them SO much easier to clean, I think, so I’m definitely glad I pulled that trigger!

I got a bit lost in Zenni’s website since they’ve got SO many frame + color options; you can shop by new arrivals, best sellers, by style, by face shape, or by using their Frame Finder to shop by rim style and size (square? rectangle? cat-eye? translucent? tortoiseshell? you name it!). The first time I wore these out in public, I was stopped and complimented on my glasses – which has never happened before. So you KNOW they’re showstoppers!

While both pairs I picked out are a bit “trendier,” I lovelovelove that they don’t FEEL like totally crazy glasses – they feel pretty classic, actually, and definitely feel versatile, since both match literally anything in my closet. Each ended up being under $50 in total, including all of the upgrades I did (like the special smudge-free lenses + custom engraving, etc).
