Happy HUMP! Are you ready for CHRISTMAS????? Less than two weeks, people. Look ready. BE READY. (I am not ready. Not in the slightest). If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a spreadsheet for shopping – but this season turned out to be a *bit* crazier than anticipated, so we’ve had to become A-OK with less control + less time, pretty much always. In this new whirlwind that is NICU motherhood, I don’t (yet) have a baby on the hip, but I DO have a schedule that is beyond busy (as I’m sure so many of ya do – who can relate?). If we’re not traveling back-and-forth to the hospital, I’m flying around from coffeshop meetings to grocery store runs, to happy hour to prayer group. Ain’t nobody got time for a complicated makeup look! Beyond that, while I’m ALL FOR a super sparkly, all out glam look for Christmas, I’m not necessarily rockin’ the glitter before December 25th – or, at least, outside of any holiday party setting. I’m opting for a more natural holiday makeup look to keep it casual until bustin’ out the sparkles, but I still want it to feel seasonal + fun. If ya wanna be festive AF all season long, the *easiest* way to do so is by adding a swipe of red lippy! If that feels intimidating right now, now worries – a lippy with some shine that feels like a lip balm will help ya transition into more color, without feeling uncomfortable. (Although y’all know how I feel about comfort zones…)
LUCKY FOR YOU, I found just the thing. 😉 My friends ~just~ launched two exciting new products in their Butter collection, which you know I lovelovelove with all my heart. (Butter Bronzer, Butter Blush, + the Butter Highlights…all MUST HAVES in your makeup bag!) So, sharing both in an easy peasy, more natural holiday makeup look for anyone wanting/needing a touch of Christmas cheer before the big day.
BONUS: Both of these launches would make *fabulous* stocking stuffers for her, so keep that in mind as you go along!
P.S. ICYMI, PF also just launched a few new skincare goodies that I shared here – perfect for holiday travels!
First up, introducing two Butter eye palettes! WOO. I was v stoked to give these a go, since I’m in such a lovelovelove affair with all of PF’s other Butter products. The palette comes in two shade sets: “Tropical Days” and “Sultry Nights.” Each has 12 shades – a combo of both mattes + shimmers. And each individual shadow is infused with natural butter ingredients from the Amazon. Exotic, amiright?!?
They’re formulated with Tucuma Butter, Cupuacu Butter, + a Murumuru Butter Blend for moisture, as well as essential fatty acids for conditioning. Note that the formula is (or at least feels) a bitter different than, say, the Butter Highlights. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, so I was half-expecting them to be as totally creamy as those, but they’re probably more comparable in formulation to the drier butter products – the bronzers + blushes.
For this specific easy, natural holiday makeup look, I worked solely with the Sultry Nights palette. I used a combo of the two topmost gold shimmers on my lid, and the lower left brown on the outside before blending. The upper left ivory went on my brow bone! Super, super simple. My whole goal with this look was to be so easy, you could do it in a.) your sleep, or b.) under 5 minutes, as you’ve got a kid in one arm and Christmas decorations in the other. Beyond some serious shadow blending, I just applied lash primer + mascara, and then swiped on the lippy we’ll chat about in a hot sec. Nothing complicated whatsoever!
BONUS: Each palette is only $16.95. Bless up.
Next up, my JAM – Butter lip creams. Specifically, 12 butter lip creams. On my very first day trying these out, I wore this same red one – Rio de Janeiro – and had it on when we went to the hospital to see Liv. Her NICU nurse stopped in her tracks to ask what lip color I was wearing – ha! Lovelovelove when that moment happens and the answer is found at the drugstore. 😉
These bad boys creamy, protective lip color (they’ve got SPF 15!), meant to help dry, cracked lips, or lips recovering from sun exposure. They’re also formulated with Tucuma Butter, Cupuacu Butter, + a Murumuru Butter Blend, as well as conditioning fatty acids. The shade range is all very wearable + versatile, loaded with cooler-toned berries and mauves, as well as brighter, warmer corals and reds.
I’m all the more into these with winter weather upon us; ain’t nobody got time for chapped lips. Every winter without fail, it’s like my lips go into protest and REVOLT. I end up in a vicious cycle of exfoliation + hydration, with neither seeming to do the trick fully. But since I’m all about a good bold lip, I’m not about to give up my festive reds – or any other color for that matter. So being able to moisturize while rocking a colored lippy is the best of both worlds. No need to layer on products or strategically pick + choose depending on how the weather or your skin is on any given day – just pick a color and you’re golden.
I kid you not – these feel like wearing your favorite lip balm. It’s like your best balm met your best lipstick and had a baby. The color payoff is great, especially with a few swipes, and the shine factor is outta this world. So whether it’s a natural holiday makeup look or a random any-day-of-the-week makeup look, there’s a lip cream for that. 😉
PRO TIP: Line your lips first before applying the lip creams, to make ’em last all day! The base color definitely lasts long; I still had red on my lips that day after going through infant CPR training, which says something since I was sharing with a mannequin. Ha! 😉 And that was without any liner, so if ya add liner underneath + around, that’ll really help keep everything in line and staying put nicely, even though it’s a super creamy application. I’d recommend fully filling your lips in with liner if you’re concerned about slash wanting that all-day wear, or just doing a quick line around the edges if you’re someone who frequently rubs her lips together when you’re wearing lip balm, so that you don’t accidentally end up looking like Miranda Sings. Ha! 😉
BONUS: They’re under 8 bucks!
Thoughts on this natural holiday makeup look? Have you seen either of these new Physicians Formula launches at the drugstore yet?
P.S. Last year’s two holiday makeup looks with Physicians Formula might also provide some #inspo for the season! 😉
