Yo yo yo – happy HUMP! How’s your week so far??? Last night, J + I grabbed Italian at one of our favorite local spots – it’s a total hole in the wall joint (actually, more like hole in the highway – ha!), but they’ve got the BEST fried mozzarella on the planet. It’s not like mozzarella sticks…it’s just the classiest, most scrumptious appetizer. Casually drooling at my desk now thinking about it.
OK, moving on from food.
Have any of y’all been following the NBA Playoffs??? Normally I watch sports for the chips n’ guac, but I’ve always preferenced basketball since I a.) used to play and b.) actually understand what’s going on and c.) don’t fall asleep watching it. The holy trinity of sports-watching criteria right there for ya, folks. Anyhoo, our team is still in it (GO SIXERS) and the team is A+ this year, so we’ve been *quite* into it. We managed to snag last-minute tix for the game on Monday night and THEY WON, so tonight’s game is gonna be ~lit~. It’s now or never, baby.
OK, on from sports.
In other news, it’s been a very hot sec since the last 1 Thing, 3 Ways post (since, like, February…which feels like yesterday but was apparently three months ago?!?!). SO, high time to change that!
When I got this cute little gems in the mail, I just about squealed. They’re just so friggin’ cute and SO perfect for now through August. Also, they’re only $16. *squealing again*. And they are…
Look #1: Night Chic
Gingham shorts (Only $16!!! They run TTS – I’m wearing a Small and normally wear a size 2) // Black bodysuit (Only $8 – also runs TTS. Suuuuuuuper squishy soft comfy fabric!) // Red heels (These are a great, wearable heel if you need a pop of red for any upcoming spring/summer festivities!) // Black sunnies (These are Karen Walker dupes…hundreds of dollars less! They’re only $10!) // Red lipstick (Shade: Russian Red)
This just might be the *easiest* outfit on the face of the planet. Seriously tho.
Step 1: Put on bodysuit.
Step 2: Put on gingham shorts.
Step 3: Put on statement heels + matching lipstick.
Step 4: Flip hair, leave house.
DONEZO. And ya look like ya tried. It’s such a simple, chic look, which is exactly what I lovelovelove for easy spring dressing. Ain’t nobody got time for complicated, and this look is anything but that. Bodysuits are my fave for that – they instantly make an outfit look more polished since everything is sleek + tucked without bunching or wrinkling, etc. Actually, every single top in each of these three looks is a bodysuit! Especially since the gingham shorts are higher-waisted with an adorbs ruffle, a bodysuit *should* be worn with ’em to make sure everything lays as it should. Also, the high-waist + tucked-in top will make your legs look MILES LONG. I kid you not.
Also ALSO, this bodysuit is $8 and the shorts are $16, so you’re dressed for under $25.
Look #2: Funky n’ Fun
Gingham shorts (Only $16!!! They run TTS – I’m wearing a Small and normally wear a size 2) // Pearl jean jacket (Runs big, so size down – I’m wearing an XS!) // White bodysuit (Only $8 – runs small tho, so size UP!) // White Jack Purcell sneakers (A really affordable little tennis shoe – super comfy and easy for spring! A must-have for spring weekend wear, if ya remember 😉 ) // White headband (A quick impulse buy in the check-out line at Old Navy – ha!) // Black sunnies (These are Karen Walker dupes…hundreds of dollars less! They’re only $10!) // Red lipstick (Shade: Russian Red)
Are y’all sick of seeing/hearing about this bad boy jean jacket yet???? 😉 It’s just TOO DANG GOOD, yo. This entire look would just be black-and-white if it weren’t for the pearl jacket + pop of red lip, which I live for. This look is just so fun – it’s something I would wear for anything + everything, from a brunch with the girls to a day date with the hubs, to just running around town in something besides workout clothes.
Also, it’s another exhibit of little white kicks being the perfect addition to any easy spring ensemble.
This little white headband was a total impulse buy when I was shopping with my girls in Salt Lake City – we were in Old Navy and someone found ’em in the checkout queue (they always getcha there), and it suddenly turned into everyone spending $25+ on headbands. Thankfully, they’re cute AF, so I’m challenging myself to get more creative with my hairstyles now since I have zero excuses and $25 less in my wallet to show for it. 😉
Look #3: Classic Daytime
Gingham shorts (Only $16!!! They run TTS – I’m wearing a Small and normally wear a size 2) // Blush bodysuit (On sale for $13.59 – comes in 4 colors!) // Black jewel mules (On sale $30 with another 20% off taken off in cart, so $20!!!! Also comes in beige.) // Black sunnies (These are Karen Walker dupes…hundreds of dollars less! They’re only $10!)
The very first thing you need to know here is that these absurdly cute mules are ON MEGA SALE!!!! They’re originally $60, but they’re on sale for $30, and right now you get an additional 30% off in your cart, so they end up being $20 and that’s a #steal. They also come in beige – I got ’em in black (obvi), but my aunt bought in beige and they look super classy, too!
This bodysuit is actually a velvet-y material, which is super counterintuive for spring, I know. BUT, the color is spring’s fave, so I think it really works when the weather is transitioning still and you want some sleeve! But getting this bodysuit in the rich burgundy/cranberry color would be SO GORGEOUS for Christmastime. Falalalalaaaaalalalala…
Overall, this is just another super simple look that looks super not-simple. Bodysuit + high-waisted, detailed shorts = one helluvah good combo. And the church said amen.
How would you wear gingham shorts for spring?
And which of these looks is your fave???
P.S. To see past 1 Things styled 3 Ways, click here. Bonus points awarded if you can find the ruched sleeveless dress that was styled that is a.) still in stock, b.) still in style, c.) still as good as ever. 😉
Cheers to getting over the hump in one piece!
