28 years young today. Bless up. 🙂 Grateful to get another year!
Last year’s birthday post was maybe my favorite thus far with 27 things I know to be true (for a trip down birthday memory lane, here’s 26, 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, and 20…). Maybe it’s just how things have been lately, but this year feels heavier…and I want (slash need) to lighten it up. So to celebrate 28, I attempted to round up my 28 favorite songs OF ALL TIME…which still feels impossible and I’m sure I’ll have a quasi-crisis if/when I think of another one that should’ve made the cut. A High School Musical bop was thiiiiiiis close to getting a spot, but The Beatles reigned supreme (as they do). For the record, I listened to the playlist straight through at my mani/pedi appointment this morning and it straight up MADE. MY. DAY. I probably looked like a loon bopping my head and singing to myself in my vibrating pedicure chair but I DON’T CARE, IT WAS MAGICAL. Hope you find some magic in it, too.
P.S. I put ’em all in a little Spotify playlist below if you’d like to celebrate with me and jam out. Feel free to save for later or do whatever ya gotta do. 🙂
The list is *diverse* with everything from musical theater to classic rock, worship songs to workout jams. Welcome to my brain. 😉
- You Get What You Give – New Radicals – This song was my alarm throughout high school to wake up in a good mood!
- Feel the Love – Rudimental – Feel the Love was what introduced us at our wedding reception! I had a ~vision~ it it…the bridal party entered to another song on this list, then we had the DJ VAMP the beginning of this song so that there was awesome build up and then we burst in and it was great.
- All I Think About is You – Ansel Elgort
- When Love Takes Over – David Guetta, Kelly Rowland – …the aforementioned bridal party introduction!
- I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas – Was seen jamming OUT on the dance floor to this at my Sweet 16. Some things never change.
- Believe – Cher – Developed a love(lovelove) for this song while dusting the house growing up. That’s a memory.
- Right Back Where We Started From – Maxine Nightingale
- Strawberry Swing – Frank Ocean – Coldplay also has a great version of this song, but this is the OG jam. I listened to this on repeat for what feels like an entire summer long at one of my college internships while working on my main project…great to zone out to while listening!
- Hey Jude – The Beatles
- Can’t Stop Falling in Love – Kina Grannis – Have actual regret that this wasn’t our first dance song.
- Sweet Child O’ Mine – Guns N’ Roses
- Clocks – Coldplay
- No One But You – Hillsong Worship
- Where the Streets Have No Name – U2
- Ordinary World – Joy Williams
- Don’t Rain on my Parade – Funny Girl – Also love Lea Michele’s version from Glee. I sang this for a voice recital in college!
- Fergalicious – Fergie – Hello my name is Erica and I know all the words to Fergalicious.
- Yellow – Coldplay
- Bittersweet Symphony – The Verve
- Ray of Sunshine – Guru Josh
- Make You Feel My Love – Adele
- How Great Thou Art – Carrie Underwood – Carrie. CARRIE!!! I mean, already a classic hymn, but she can stir any soul with it I SWEAR.
- Dear Prudence – The Beatles
- Blackbird – The Beatles
- Who Loves You – Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
- Nobody Does it Better – Michael Calfan – Instant confidence boost.
- Rise Up (Lazarus) – Cain
- Hero – Afrojack
