My Favorite Facial Sprays – 10 Face Mists to Try (+ Why your Skin needs them!)

I’ve been on the facial sprays train for a HOT sec now. As in, months. Honestly, I’m probably borderline addicted. I’ve more face mists in my drawer than any reasonable gal needs, but I’m no reasonable gal. 😉 Ha! I started getting into different facial sprays + face mists when I started more intentionally adopting a few dedicated makeup-free, skincare focused days into my week. I’ve always been good about skipping makeup every so often – ain’t nobody got time for a full face everyday! But I’ve been all-the-more focused on ensuring that when when I’m not wearing makeup, I AM wearing *something* to enhance my skincare all the better.

If you’ve been around these rosy parts awhile, maybe you’ve noticed I’m abit of a skincare junkie? Ha! I blame the fact that my skin was always one of my *biggest* insecurities growing up. I always had acne, blemishes, scarring, blackheads, oiliness, unevenness, redness – a totally blah complexion that I couldn’t really control, that left me feeling like I needed to cover it all up somehow.

Instead of covering it all up now as an adult, I’m on a perpetual mission of sorts to clean it up from the inside-out, so that I can opt for LESS makeup instead of MORE and still feel pretty and confident in my skin.

Whoa, that wasn’t supposed to get deep at all, but here we are – ha!

Backing it up, though, since this post isn’t about the inside-out OR any particularly *deep* skincare regimen or routine. Instead, we ARE talking more surface-level – with facial sprays and face mists to spritz on throughout your day.

First up, quick backstory.

The first of these facial sprays that I fell in lovelovelove with was . I’ve mentioned it many times here before in past skincare routine posts and all that jazz. But it’s so great, and I often spritz it on in the mornings right after running a cotton pad of micellar water around my face, as means of a quickie cleanser + tone to kickoff the day. Pretty sure this is my third bottle of it and I’ve got another full one waiting in the wings for when this one runs out, so you could say I’m well-stocked + very into it. Ha!

Because of trying to be more intentional with my skincare in general, I end up feeling weird if I DON’T have anything on my face (in terms of good-for-you skin products). Sometimes during the day, I’d find myself feeling a little parched, or in need of a pickmeup. Or, my makeup might’ve started itching a little, or feeling blah – also in need of some rejuvenation. And I don’t always want to be TONING – so I knew it was time to up my facial sprays game and add a few more to my arsenal.

Do facial sprays give you the same sorta obvious results as, say, an intense moisturizer on parched skin, or a spot treatment on a blemish?

No.

But if it’s a choice between free-radicals and random air pollutants on my skin versus some vitamins or healthy formulas, I’ll choose the latter every time.

– This one is great because it works to keep your makeup in place while ALSO having good-for-you skincare benefits. I typically spray this on *before* applying any makeup, as a way to calm any redness (since rose in skincare is calming!) + refresh my pores before layering on products. It’s meant to prolong your makeup wear, preventing it from moving, melting, or settling into fine lines and pores. It’s free of: parabens, aluminum, dye, sulfates, phthalates, formaldehydes, and other crazy big words. And it HAS green tea + rose water inside.

Good for all skin types.

– Enter the magical mist that started it all for me! My facial sprays obsessions began with this bad boy from Aveda, again, as a light toner to start the day (I wanted something light since I use regular toners at nighttime, and don’t want to strip my skin!). It’s cooling + refreshing while helping balance your skin by minimizing surface oil buildup – which also helps prevent breakouts, clogged pores, etc. This mist is formulated with a blend of white oak, witch hazel, + peppermint, which has mild astringent properties; astringents are chemicals that shrink body tissues (#science), so it helps tighten your pores in this way! #BlessUp

Best for normal to oilier skin types.

– As seen in last month’s Cool Sh*t I Lovelovelove! This one is another that I really #CantStopWontStop spritzing – it feels + SMELLS simply fabulous. It’s full or peptides + prebiotics all meant to balance your skin’s microbiome, and it’s good for hydrating + priming/setting makeup. The formula has hydrating sugars for moisture, a yeast peptide for locking it in, and then a multi-tasking biopolymer complex for priming/setting. No parebens, sulfates, phthalates, gulten, dyes, GMOs, triclosan, alcohol, etc. Also cruelty-free!

Good for sensitive skin (and also all other skin types).

– Another one of my facial sprays that I’m reaching for on the reg and have gone through a few bottles of at this point! It’s a really simple formula – herbal extracts + rosewater. Super refreshing! It actually says for this one that you can spray your day + night creams themselves for added hydration, which I thought was an interesting recommendation that I’ve never tried before! Mario Badescu has quite a few other formulas for facial sprays, too, and I’m grabbing the rest on my next Ulta run.

Good for all skin types.

(This product is no longer available, but this is a great !)– Tula’s face mist is a really *interesting* combo of ingredients: organic coconut water for natural moisturization, ashwagandha extract for calming distressed skin (it’s a stress-relieving herb!), reishi mushroom extract for reduceing the appearance of inflammation (it’s a powerful antioxidant!), algae extract for hydration + detoxification, and 100% natural probiotics for a moisture-locking barrier. My Tula code works on it for y’all: COMINGUPROSES for 20% off!

Good for all skin types.

Olay Ultimate Hydration Essence mists: AND – Obvi I’ve been on an Olay kick when it comes to drugstore skincare – you’ve only heard me talk about Whips 32 and a half times at this point. 😉 I can’t help it – lovelovelove. Both of these facial sprays are worth the drugstore run, too! The Energizing one has Vitamin C, Bergamot, and Vitamin B3 inside. And the Calming one has Aloe, Chamomile, and Vitamin B3 again.

Good for all skin types.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist – I was *stoked* to try this mist, because word on the street was that Glow Recipe’s watermelon-scented products REAAAAALLY smelled like watermelon. Sure enough – it lives up to the hype. It’s an ultra-fine mist, which I appreciate since you won’t get actual droplets on your face. The mist itself is a blend of 84% watermelon, hyaluronic acid (my fave!), + hibiscus. It’s formulated to help with dryness, redness, dullness, and uneven texture. For the ingredient breakdown, watermelon soothes irritated skin, hydrates, + brings essential vitamins and amino acids. Hyaluronic acid holds up to 1,000 times its weight in moisture, so it’s a hydrating dream. And then hibiscus flower AHAs works to gently smooth the look of any texture, smoothing + hydrating the skin to help with your makeup application; apple cider vinegar helps balance oil production, and rice germ oil helps protect against damage from free radicals. Also vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.

Good for all skin types.

– This mist works as a 4-in-1 primer, hydrating mist, setting spray, + refresher (as many of them are!) – it’s got 25 nourishing oils, as well as 6 fruit + herbal extracts inside. Also inside: Icelandic glacier water, which – fun fact! – is filtered through layers of volcanic rock. It’s got minerals for calming + soothing skin. And it’s all meant to leave you illuminated + refreshed. No parabens, sulfates, or phthalates inside.

Good for all skin types.
