PHOENIX TRAVEL GUIDE pt.1

WOWZA. Happy Monday, friends! I’m over here not even knowing what day it is ’cause my mind is just a blur, and has been for about a week now. ICYMI…I was on the other side o’ the states, in Phoenix, Arizona! SO stoked to share with you a whole buncha details about our trip over the course of the month. Instead of just giving you one longass blog post (seriously, it would be 5,000+ words – yikes) recapping everything, I’m breaking it down by day to give ya as many helpful details as possible, so that if you’ve got an upcoming trip down southwest, you feel truly prepared with some good recommendations up yo’ sleeve.

SO.

We arrived in Phoenix by way of Denver; in the airport, we had a bit of an *adventure*.  (Mom, don’t kill me for telling this story – LOL) We had gotten our luggage and were set to head out to explore, when we promptly fell down the up escalator.

Now y’all – this was a SCENE.

There was no else around – no one else in sight, even. My mom was in front of me, and her suitcase wheel was off of the escalator step unbeknownst to her, so as soon as the steps separated to go up, it toppled back onto her.

So…she fell down…into me. I would’ve fallen down too, had I not been staggered on multiple steps already, but my luggage fell. So now I had to get my luggage back upright while supporting my ma and then pushing her back upright somehow, before the two of us loons showed up at the top feet first. 😉 ‘TWAS AN ADVENTURE. But “adventure” is the theme for this trip, so we’ll go with it.

After making it out alive, we made it to our resort – the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch. Upon check-in we were handed complimentary margaritas, so you could say we were feelin’ ~great~ about Phoenix. 🙂

This resort is so stinkin’ cool. First off – it’s gorgeous. As soon as you pull into the main driveway, – which currently has a GIANT Christmas tree lit up on a fountain in the center, surrounded by lit up palm trees on every side – that much is clear. The Hyatt has a whole slue of room offerings, a spa, shops, restaurants, a fitness center, 10 (yup, 10) pools – they’re also pet friendly! So first thing’s first: we explored.

We spent the majority of that first afternoon just shooting around the resort, since it was such good lighting and such a BEAUTIFUL location! Which brings us to this lil’ outfit! This first look is one of my *favorite* outfits, since it just feels so ~me~. I lovelovelove the subtle graphic tee, the ultra-comfy, distressed denim, the casual chucks, the pop of red lipstick, the glam sunnies – it’s like the trifecta of favorite things. Y’all know I lovelovelove my a good Monday Mantra, and “you go girl” felt just about right for a journey across the USA. Go do it! Go try it! Go live it! This tee is currently BOGO 50% off (woo!). I just recently bought these jeans and am already in lovelovelove – the knee holes are in just the right place that they make everything super flexible (instead of being constricting like some denim can be). And they’re a bit higher-waisted, so they’re ultra-flattering + comfy in your tummy area. ALSO lovelovelove the wash, so they’re just a #win. The Converse are a newer design that’s a bit more cut-out – personally, I totally dig it, ’cause they look AWESOME paired with cuffed/rolled denim. And then of course, tied everything together head-to-toe with my fave red lippy (Ruby Woo!) + these super cute $9 sunnies that are near-perfect lookalikes for this $220 pair!

In the evening, we had dinner reservations at Blanco Tacos y Tequila in Scottsdale – SO STINKIN’ DELISH. I need to rave about this meal for a hot sec, because LAWDY it was grand.

We each got the Italian Blood Orange margarita, which is essentially a marg with Grand Marnier (the liquor) – UNBELIEVABLE. Seriously, to die for. We started with their famous guac, which has roasted poblano, anaheim chiles, carmelized onion + cojita cheese. And then my mama got a taco trio – they let you mix n’ match tacos, and interchange either rice or beans with their Mexican street corn which is BOMB. DOT. COM. My entree was a burrito bowl  and it far surpassed anything at Chipotle. The whole meal was just yummers. Would 100000% recommend. Also, the staff there is amazing. Everyone knows the menu inside + out and makes killer recommendations, seeing as we went with pretty much 100% recommends for our whole meal and it turned out to be perfection.

After dinner, we headed back to the Hyatt to attempt to relax – but really, we just ended up working more because travel while working is actually one of the busiest, craziest things ever (which no one ever really sees/understands, unless you do it yourself – ha!).

AIIIIIGHT. More on Phoenix to come.

Quick reminder before starting your week…

You go girl.

You go do that really big thing you really wanna do.

Or, you go and just start it.

You go book that flight.

You go call that old friend.

You go reignite that flame.

You go be yourself.

You go and spread kindness.

You go buy that dress.

You go get that promotion.

You go show ’em how good you can be.

Have you ever been to Phoenix? What would you add to this Phoenix travel guide?

Stay tuned for more on my trip this month – everything from hot air ballooning to riding horses in the desert, to some solid wine-me-dine-me experiences that you won’t wanna miss if/when you decide to book your own lil’ vacay to the US Southwest.

Hope y’all have the BEST week – it’s Christmas time, yo!
