TGIF, FRIENDS. This week kinda sorta flew by for me – you too? I realized it’s been a hot sec since the last edition of #AskE, and I’ve been stockpiling your Q’s…so it was about dang time to hit publish on a few! Today we’re talkin’ everything from a gallery wall hanging hack to Face Filter, to comfy AND cute walking shoes, egg chairs, and more. So buckle up, folks! It’s so flowy + fun, which is what I’m all about in the summer sun. Ain’t nobody got time for chafing, or for sweat showing through a too-tight dress when it’s 85 degrees outside, so this style of dress is GREAT for preventing all of the above. Plus, it’s got room for a food baby (hello 4th of July hot dogs, get in my belly), or to hide a real baby bump. Did I mention it’s just so dang FUN???

Clearly my hair was shorter + darker then (we shot it literally before I even got extensions in! say what!), but the dress is still clutch and definitely a worthwhile closet addition.

If you had to pick ONE Tula product, what would it be? Trying to decide what to switch over…

This is literally like picking a favorite child. Obviously I only have one child, but like…how.

While the has been a favorite cleanser for YEARS, I’d say this might be a toss-up between the and . I KNOW I KNOW, you can only pick one, E! But hear me out – they’re just two products that I’ve *struggled* to find anything that compares. A lot of toners are SO strong and really stripping to your skin, or leave you feeling too tight, red, and/or irritated. The toner is alcohol-free and has probiotics and beetroot extract inside for gentle chemical exfoliation.

And then is just on another level. I mean, the “glow particles” inside literally change color for your skin tone to provide a nice glowy tint and kiss of color, which is just about perfect for “no-makeup” days (especially as a busy mom, hello).

OK WOW that went wildly off-topic since you just asked for ONE THING. But who I am kidding? I’m an overachiever since birth. 😉 Ha!

Can you show how you did the gallery wall in your dining room? The measuring, leveling, etc?

Yes ma’am! So first, ICYMI, here’s the gallery wall in question:

I described my process in my modern farmhouse dining room reveal post, so check that out if ya missed it, too!

I started off by measuring the middle point of the wall going from top to bottom, to know whereabouts that middle row of pictures should be. Once I had that centered, I simply set my level on top and below the centered middle row picture frame to know how far above and how far below the other rows should be! That way, I wasn’t needing to take a ruler and measure + mark out measurements and numbers…I was simply using my resources and a built-in size guide in the level to make sure things were equidistant AND straight. ???? Note: The level is about 1.5 inches wide! 

From there I continued that process for the entire thing – using my level as the guide for spacing between pictures on top and bottom.

For how far apart they should be side-by-side, I measured the entire width of the wall and figured out mathematically how many inches should be between each one. I didn’t get it totally perfect (it was something like 3.68 inches LOL), but if anyone is coming to my house with a ruler…they can leave. HA. 😉

But really, wherever you can work smarter and not harder and use easy tools to help gauge spacing, DO IT. It made life approximately a thousand times easier, and this gallery wall was the first thing up in the whole house!

 

So I’m also on the (kind of weird due to the pandemic) house hunt. I was just wondering what the move/cleaning/using movers process was like with all of the extra considerations that come into play!

Totally. I said it before and I’ll say it again – it was totally not our intention to move in the middle of a global pandemic. God’s plan is bigger + better than our own, so somehow it all worked out, thank the Sweet Lord Baby Jesus.

We did hire movers to help because how could we NOT with a toddler in tow and a two-story townhouse to pack up + move…J and I would’ve undoubtedly died trying to haul all of that ourselves. Actually, it just wouldn’t have worked. So we hired a moving company to help, and we made sure they were taking all pandemic cautions seriously – namely, masks the entire process (which they did). We got our townhouse cleaned professional after moving out, so that it would be spotless for the folks checking it out with intent to buy as we went through that selling process (because we ended up being in our new house before actually selling the old one…another crazy God thing).

So really, the only big “extra consideration” was being masked throughout. We had the townhouse cleaned, and then we had cleaners professionally do the new house the day we bought it before we actually moved all of our stuff in the next day, so that we were hopefully nixing as many germs as humanly possible. The movers were gloved, too, so not too much concern there.

I’d say just have very clear, direct conversations with potential movers or cleaners before hiring to ask what their process is, what considerations they’re taking, and if they’re willing to step anything up a notch if need be for your own comfort!
