Cool Sh*t I Lovelovelove – Monthly Favorites, January 2020

Now that the end of January is FINALLY here (anyone else feel like it’s been approximately 63 days in this month? Anyone?), it’s time to talk some Cool Sh*t I Lovelovelove. 🙂 This week slash month has been looooong, so I’ll keep this intro short n’ sweet. It’s been a particularly heavy, stressful month for many I’d say, and honestly ain’t nobody got time – we all need a load off and some R&R, so I hope you get some solid time for you and quality time with loved ones to end the month happier + stronger. NOW, onto some Cool Sh*t. 🙂 From sweatshirts on sale for under $20, to a Tarte ShapeTape concealer drugstore lookalikes to UGG boots, this month’s got a little bit o’ everything.

1.) American Eagle sweatshirts

I essentially lived in these sweatshirts for all of January. They’re just SO easy to throw-on-and-go – they’re a bit of a lighterweight material, almost like a terry fabric on the inside, so they’re easier to wear both inside + outside without getting too hot. They’re long enough to wear over leggings (bless up), they comes in lots of good neutral solids + prints…just a really great sweatshirt that isn’t your basic fleecy material.

They’re also on SUPER SALE right now – 60% off!!! Down to under 20 bucks. And my leopard one is still in stock + on sale, so TREAT YO’SELF! Be warned, you’ll live in it. 😉

2.) Motivational Speaking

I’ve known for awhile now that I wanted to branch into public speaking. Really, I’ve been feeling called towards it. I had the opportunity to speak at my friend Beth’s incredible event, BE, in Philly this month. It was a jam-packed day of personal development + physical movement, with everything from speakers to sponsors, a yoga workout and a beats bootcamp. A totally empowering day of everyone being encouraged to be their very best selves. An an absolute honor to speak there to so many incredible women!

3.) Gimme beauty hair ties

These have been making their ways around Instagram since everyone and their mother swears they’re the best hair tie out there. I’ve talked about no-slip hair ties before so I was curious to try these to see how they compare. They’re totally different but do the trick! These Gimme beauty ties are SUPER soft and secure. The best part? They come in colors to match your hair, as well as different sizes to match your hair thickness! They do not BUDGE, so they’re really fabulous for working out or for any hairstyle that you want to stay PUT!

4.) UGG boots

I bought my first UGGs last year when we were in the NICU with Olivia. I pulled a treat yo’self on UGG moccasin slippers for our nightly NICU treks, and they were the MOST comfortable + warm things – very much appreciated and necessary for winter hospital runs. Then, my brother bought me another pair for Christmas 2019, and my UGG obsession commenced. 😉 I got my first UGG slippers during the last Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, then snagged another pair on sale at Nordstrom Rack. And this year, I knew it was the year to buy my first pair of UGG BOOTS. But, I always strongly disliked UGG boots that looked Frankenstein-esque – ya know the ones?

I saw a cute mom wearing these UGG boots  at Trader Joe’s and immediately went home and added to cart because I thought THIS IS IT – those are the ones!!! The same warmth + comfort that UGG boots are known and loveloveloved for, with some added detail to make them the style I had in mind. And they’re SUCH a favorite…I’ve gotten my money’s worth and then some this season alone, because I grab them to run out the door constantly, especially for easy errands or whenever I want to be warmer than sneakers with an athleisure look.  If you’ve been on the fence about UGG boots – get off the fence and pull the trigger, sistah! UGG boots are truly worth every penny.

5.) UGG slipper lookalikes

OK OK SO you know UGG slippers are a favorite of mine – right? Right. So imagine how mindblown + ecstatic I was to find a LOOKALIKE on Amazon for – wait for it – not even $25??? These look near-IDENTICAL to my UGG slippers, but cost $60 less.

And I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but…I think I might actually like the lookalikes more.

Y’all, it’s unreal – they’re SO SOFT + SO WARM, with even more of a wrap-around effect on your foot, so it’s like an alpaca hugging your feet. I wear them nearly everyday at this point. Add to your Amazon cart ASAP – heck, they’re on Prime so you can have them on your feet tomorrow! Truly, the easiest TREAT YO’SELF of the month. Should’ve done it yesterday. 😉

6.) Planners

OK SO I’m basically the pickiest person ever when it comes to planners. At any give point, I likely have, like, 5 ongoing. No joke. I have so many things I want/need in an ideal planner, and many just don’t have that perfect combo for a daily or weekly layout. While these aren’t perfect, they’re definitely a great option that I wanted to recommend, especially since many of my personal planner problems come with my job – and if you aren’t a blogger slash don’t have my personal planner problems, it could very well be the perfect planner for you! 😉

Each day is broken down by the hour, they’re beautifully spiral-bound, and have customizable covers.

7.) Olivia’s car

Hands down, her FAVORITE gift from Santa. I mean, THE JOY. There is nothing this girl loveloveloves more than riding around town in her pretty pink car. Can we all get convertibles like this in 2020?

We wanted to get her something that she would genuinely enjoy riding in, because girlfriend is not into the stroller life right now. She wants to be out and about and feel in control, so this little car gives her that while being super easy to push/navigate around. Some of my girlfriends also have it for their girls and say the same thing – the little ladies lovelovelove!

The best $40 from Target (I don’t think they have in store – we had to buy online!).

8.) Maybelline concealer

Y’all, this is huge – I found a Tarte ShapeTape concealer lookalike from the drugstore!!!!!!!! I first heard one of my favorite Instagrammers mention this and thought COULD IT BE?? So I tested it out for myself and sure enough – it is.

This Maybelline concealer offers the near exact same level of coverage as ShapeTape and is perfect for covering dark undereye circles or brightening up down there. The website says it’s a full coverage under-eye concealer that erases dark circles and fine lines to visibly diminish puffiness (yay!). The formula has goji berry and Haloxyl inside, which is apparently a blood circulation booster, to help you look more refreshed! I did a little side-by-side comparison in the photo below – obviously the shades are slightly different, but I wanted to give you the best possible idea of the similarities in coverage! Tarte ShapeTape is the top, lighter shade and the Maybelline one is what I’m swiping below it – and you can see how well-concealing they both are, with the Maybelline perfectly covering the blueish vein on my wrist!

Of course, I also recommend pairing with my favorite Tula eye balm (code COMINGUPROSES for a discount at checkout! Yay!) since that works to brighten + highlight the undereye while also having good-for-you ingredients to heal and lighten from the inside-out instead of just cover. But in terms of concealer coverage, this one takes the cake! Also, here is my big blog post on how to cover dark circles if you’re interested in my own full-routine. 🙂

If you ARE already a ShapeTape lover like myself, here’s a phenomenal deal on a two-pack with a beauty sponge for only $37 (that’s usually a $64+ combo, so this is a steal!).

9.) Purging/decluttering

I’ve always been one to loveloveLOVE a good purge, but oftentimes it just slips through the cracks with everything else on the schedule. This month I finally put it ON THE CALENDAR to start the biggest purge I’ve ever done to my closet – a true Marie Kondo effort in action. And y’all – it’s felt SO DANG GOOD and I’m not even totally done yet!!! It’s truly a contagious effort; once I started my closet, I wanted to simultaneously do all of my cabinets and closets and storage room, and everyone had to get me to slow the heck down and focus on one area at a time – true Erica problem. 😉

I did have a TON of folks ask if I’ll be selling things online at all, but at this point I don’t think that’s in the cards. I am saving a few things in case I do another in-person Blogger Closet Sale with my girlfriends again like I did in 2019 (because that was SO MUCH FUN and meeting you guys and donating everything to charity was just the best!), but other than that, not planning on selling. I end up donating everything else to local women’s shelters and I really lovelovelove doing that, so I’ll be sticking with that for now!

10.) Wire-free Amazon bra

For all my fellow small boob gals, this one’s for us! 😉 All of my bras had been underwire, and honestly, who the heck likes underwire bras??? Ain’t nobody got time to be fidgeting or pulling or dealing with poking situations up there. I saw these on Amazon and they have RAVE reviews (thousands of 5-stars!!!), so I pulled the trigger just to see.

And…it’s fabulous. It’s like you get the comfort of a sports bra without wires, but MORE comfortable because it doesn’t leave you sore at all, and with padding to have a bit of support and no nip slips. SO stinking good, friends!!! I’m getting it in the heather grey, too, and my mom snagged a few, as well. Not even $20, either, so it’s so much more affordable than other big-name bra companies. HIGHLY recommend!
