Excuse me, but HOW in the heck is it the end of AUGUST already?!? Pumpkin spice lattes launch this week. Time to pick out a Halloween costume and start your Christmas shopping. Deck the halls and Happy new Year, everybody. It’s Monthly Favorites time! We’ve got everything from UGG slippers to a cauliflower pizza crust to the Skyview app, so there is LOADS of random goodness below. Brace yo’selves + buckle up, friends.
I was going to include my pink cut-out one-piece that’s been hothothot with you guys, too, but seeing as we’ve all got pumpkin spice on the mind at this point…I figured I’d just shout it out here before diving into the full monthly favorites shebang, paying homage to a total fave where due. 😉 It’s under $20, comes in 5 color options, stays PUT (bless up), AND is a designer lookalike for a $108 J. Crew suit! A total winner winner chicken dinner in my book.
But in the spirit of the new season upon us, it’s time for Cool Sh*t I Lovelovelove – many of which in this roundup of Monthly Favorites include fall-forward selections, as we are about to embark on the best season of the year (besides the Christmas season). 😉 Let’s go.
THE INFAMOUS WUBBY. Y’all. This ain’t a new thing. The Wubby took Instagram by storm when it first launched a few Nordstrom Anniversary Sales ago. At first, I’ll be honest…I didn’t get the hype.
Granted, I hadn’t actually FELT it, so of course I didn’t get the hype.
In my head, this was just an overpriced sweatshirt. In my head, sometimes I’m also an idiot. 😉 I had bought a lookalike for less than $35 on Amazon and figured I was good and done with the Wubbies.
Then this year’s NSALE came.
And…I pulled the trigger. I stumbled upon the Wubby in store and it was lovelovelove at first touch.
Y’all, this thing feels like you’re wrapping an alpaca around your body and going to heaven. Dramatic? Not even. It’s so dang fluffy, you’ll put it on and become Agnes in Despicable Me when she freaks out with IT’S SO FLUFFY I’M GONNA DIE!!!!!
100% worth the money, but be warned, you won’t take it off all fall/winter. 😉 Also makes a FABULOUS giftable, so grab one for you and one for anyone you care about.
2.) Starbucks Toasted Graham K-Cups
I get that fall doesn’t officially arrive until next month, but in my book, I’ve been celebrating since July-ish when these K-cups first came into my life. They have such a legit, fabulous graham flavor. My whole family is hooked on ’em, and I think we’ve gone through three boxes already? In fact, I grabbed the LAST K-cup for this picture, so bless up. 😉
3.) MAC Breathing Fire lipstick
This has quickly become my iconic hot pink lip. One of my personal traditions is picking up a new MAC lipstick anytime I pass a MAC store in an airport on a work trip. Random? Totally. But a fun little treat yo’self nonetheless. 🙂
This was my last pre-plane purchase, and it’s safe to say it’s a favorite – a monthly favorite, of course. 😉 It’s just the perfect poppy pink with blue undertones, so it makes your smile look whiter, too!
4.) Caulipower pizza
If you would’ve asked me two months ago what I thought about cauliflower pizza, I would’ve LOL’ed at the idea. Your girl is SUCH a pizza diehard, Lord knows I’d scoff at the concept of replacing a crispy crust with a vegetable.
BUT.
Then I got tuned into Caulipower pizza. You know – pizza with a cauliflower crust. And HOLY MOLY, the game has been changed. This stuff looks like your regular pizza, it tastes like your regular pizza – it’s just got, like, 1/5 the calories of your regular pizza. I kid you not, the ENTIRE PIZZA PIE has 760 calories in it. Like, what? You can eat HALF A PIZZA for dinner all by yourself and it’s less calories than two regular slices. UNREAL.
Of course, there is a sliiiiight difference – the lack of carbohydrates in the crust are a bit noticeable when comparing to your usual slice o’ Papa John’s.
But it’s not THAT noticeable, really truly, which just about blew my mind. Absolutely worth grabbing on your next grocery run, especially since pizza night just went from being a cheat night to being basically a salad.
5.) The Library – OK OK so my computer was open and my husband decided to “help.” Brace yo’self…
Yo, yo, yo, it’s your boy, J. I found something, or at least refound something this week I need to share with y’all: the library. Go ahead and laugh, but when was the last time you were there? If it’s been longer than a few years, you are missing out on a place that can eliminate your subscriptions to newspapers and magazines and costs related to purchasing books, e-books and audiobooks. Think about it: you buy a book, read it, and then it just sits on a shelf forever. You can rent this same book from a library for free. Or electronically, for free. Or listen to it on your car ride, for free. AND, the library probably has free passes to museums and zoos for you and your family. Don’t forget about the movies, CDs and family classes (art, dance, and clubs)… ALL FREE.
6.) Airpods – Also from your boy, J. Think you have your life on lock? If you don’t have airpods, you’re wrong. Choose whatever brand that works for you, but the point is these mini items are wireless and can help you talk on the phone, listen to music, JOG, all hands free.
OK THIS IS IRONIC and my husband and I are clearly married for a reason? Because J didn’t even KNOW this, but AirPods was legit on my own list of Monthly Favorite for y’all, too. CRAZY, AMIRIGHT?! So I’ll add on here, because we both got ’em last month. I pulled a treat yo’self, and picked up a pair for J, too. 🙂 So it’s safe to say the whole fam is hooked now! Basically, I was just sick of forgetting headphones on flights, and/or having them just be a wiry, tangled mess. I was afraid they’d fall out of my ears because headphones just never sit quite right for me, but so far so good – only ONE incident of forgetting they were in and tilting my head and almost losing them on the plane but WE GOOD, FOLKS. We still here. 😉 They sync up so effortlessly with your device and even pause playing if you take one out of your ear.
7.) Target brown sugar chestnut candle
If you want fall inside a candle, this is it. My friend Amanda turned me onto this gem from the Target candle aisle – best of all, it’s soy. It’s not too overpowering, so it’s a more subtle fall scent, perfect if you have a smaller space or just don’t like when it smells like Bath & Body Works exploded in your house. HA. 😉
I’ve got it burning in my office as we speak! (Or as I type? Ha!)
8.) Skyview app
Y’all, I’m about to nerd the heck out here…absolutely not sorry about it. 😉 Do you like outer space? Because I do, and if you do too, you 100% need to download the Skyview app immediately. Apparently the Skyview app been around forever, but I just discovered it recently and about lost my mind. Basically, it’s a free app that uses your phone camera and lets you point your phone around the sky, showing you what’s up in outer space in real time. It identifies planets, constellations, etc, and gies a whole plethora of information on each when you tap it. I mean, HOW FREAKING COOL?!?!
One night at the beach with the fam, we were spotting something suuuuuper bright up there and figured it was more than a star. Turned out: it was Jupiter. Fun fact: I am an expert at Jupiter. Because I went on a research binge and learned absolutely ALL THE THINGS, so if you someone at your next party with a whole lotta space facts, I’m your girl.
Besides Jupiter, the Skyview app also identified Saturn in the same night sky for us. Then, at a conference I was at a few weekends back, I saw them again – as well as the Hubble Space Telescope, which it was identifying on the other side of the Earth. Meaning, when you point your phone at the ground…it shows you what’s happening literally on the other side of our planet. And there was Hubble, maybe over China? IDK, it was awesome.
You can check out the daytime sky with the Skyview app, too; even though I couldn’t see it with the naked eye, Skyview identified Mercury, Venus AND Mars a few mornings ago. Besides totally fueling your inner nerd, it’ll make you the life of any party when you whip out your phone and start identifying the stars for all. So, totally recommend. 😉
9.) UGG slippers
Another NSALE favorite of mine! Especially since I work from home, I essentially live in them now. They’re delightfully warm + fluffy, stay on your feet, and have hard soles so you can run outside to the mailbox without ruining your poochies.
OH ALSO. “Poochies.” ICYMI, this is what I call bedroom slippers.
Katie called me out one day like What the heck are poochies? And my family always called them that, but I didn’t know exactly why; turns out, it’s coal region speak for bedroom slippers. They’re originally from the coal region in Pennsylvania. SO, poochies.
These poochies are also a great giftable, so pick up a pair for yourself AND your bestie or your mom or your sister or your third cousin twice removed, because all will lovelovelove these bad boys. I’ve got my eye on a pink pair, next!
10.) Wet n’ Wild Megaglo loose highlight
Holy highlight, Batman. This drugstore highlighter packs a serious punch. I picked it up on a whim in Walmart one day just for funsies, and turns out – I lovelovelove it. It’s the kinda highlight that goes BA-BAM on your cheekbone. A little bit goes a long way, so apply lightly + carefully.
Be warned, it is a LOOSE highlight, so the powder can spill and highlight ERRR’THAAAANG if you’re not mindful. 😉 Definitely an incredible highlight option, especially since it’s under 6 bucks!
11.) Kate Spade On Purpose crossbody
Lastly, I lovelovelove this new Kate Spade crossbody I picked up from the Philadelphia Premium Outlets a few weekends back. I had no clue that KS has an On Purpose collection that works with 150+ women in Masoro, Rwanda as means of employment + empowerment. They have Rwandan women making specific bags for the KS On Purpose collection, helping shape the lives of 20,000+ in the local community. I just lovelovelove when companies make meaningful, impactful decisions like that to add purpose to profit. Truly awesome! (My specific bag was at the outlet so I can’t find it online, but I linked to the general Kate Spade page for On Purpose products in case you’re interested in learning more/checking it out!)
