Friends…there are CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS at Walmart now. CHRISTMAS IS COMING. You know what else that means is coming? Jack Frost and his ice blasts. Maybe you’re #blessed and live somewhere reminiscent of a palm tree paradise all year long, but for those of us who know what the word “Noreaster” means…it’s a whole new world come winter wonderland season. Beyond the fact that our noses look like Rudolph’s and we’re bundled up like Michelin-men marshmallows, our skin suffers. Our skin AND our hair, truly. Winter beauty + wellness routines ain’t no walk in the park, because everything gets a bit extreme. Extreme cold wreaks its havoc, but so does heat from too-hot showers or too-hot styling tools, so it can feel like a lose-lose situation until March.
But it doesn’t have to be!
I recommend making a few shifts starting NOW so that you’re prepared + hydrated all season long. One of my favorite brands is having a big Friends & Family Sale through the end of the weekend, so I’d be remiss to not share it with you FRIENDS of mine – and so many of their products are musts in my own routines, especially for treatment purposes. Get – so it’s the perfect time to stock up for the season, not just for your own needs, but for gifting, too! I have no doubt you’ll see many a CRB product pop up in gift guides on CUR this year, so just beat me to the punch and #AddToCart already. 😉 (If you end up on the fence about anything, my exclusive code ERICA20 is good anytime – but it’s only for 20% off instead of 25%, so you’ll save more by shopping now!)
I’ve shared Colleen Rothschild’s products before in so many capacities, and for good reason – she just makes SUCH good skincare. I have a handful of ride-or-die brands when it comes to my skincare, and CRB is one of them.
SO. Without further adieu, let’s chat some shifts to start making to better your skin AND hair this season, to stay moisturized + hydrated across the board.
1.) When in doubt, mask it out. There are TWO masks from Colleen Rothschild that I strongly recommend for your personal hydration station: the for your face, and the . Both are 5 star products per customer reviews, and for good reason. First up, the Hydrating mask. It helps strengthen your skin’s elasticity and is formulted for long-lasting moisture (which we all need when it gets colder, of course), with a blend of Coral Grass + Micro-Algae inside and a potent tri-peptide complex to help minimize the appearance of fine lines (double duty for a moisturizer amiright?). While it’s called a mask, you actually don’t HAVE to take it off after use – you can sleep with it on as an overnight treatment, which I did last night actually! Then, there’s the , – a color-safe conditioning treatment that helps soften, detangle, and revive all hair types WITHOUT weighing it down (which is often a pain point in conditioners!). It’s got Kokum, Shea, Capuacu, AND Bacuri Butters inside, as well as Argan and Moringa Oils, so it’s insanely nourishing + hydrating while smoothing split ends, improving hair elasticity, reducing frizz or texture, AND adding healthy-looking shine. It basically does everything, ALSO has a 5-star customer rating, and works as either a regular conditioner or more intensive weekly treatment depending on how you use it. The goal this season should be shampooing less, conditioning more, so I lovelovelove this mask in that equation!
2.) DRINK MORE WATER!!!! A total no-brainer addition to your routine if we’re talking staying hydrated, but really, hydration is all about an inside-out approach. Hydrating your insides translates to a more hydrated outside, so it’ll have a ripple effect on your skin AND hair (and more) if you amp up your daily water intake.
3.) Stop stripping while toning. Oftentimes, toners can be pretty harsh on your skin if you’re not using the right one for your specific skin type. Colleen Rothschild actually has a NEW toner that just recently launched that I’ve been testing out myself – their . It’s actually got Rose Quartz, Rhodolite Garnet, and Malachite Extract inside, which are all rich in vital natural minerals to help support your skin barrier. AND, also fun fact, they’re known to bring out positive energy, which I’m sure we could all benefit from when it gets dark at 5 pm – ha! Also inside are some hydrating humectants (humectants are known for their ability to retain moisture!) like Rosehip Seed Oil and Prickly Pear Extract. It’s the most interesting “toner” I’ve ever tried, because it has this milky consistency to it and doesn’t feel drying in the SLIGHTEST – it literally feels moisturizing, which took a hot sec for me to get used to since that’s totally not what I think of when I think “toner”! But this is a really great product for sensitive or irritated skin, especially with the power of the crystals inside that help with that gentle softening + conditioning.
4.) Add a biotin supplement. If you’re not taking one already, take biotin daily! It’s one of the B-complex vitamins that actually helps convert food to energy (and who couldn’t use more of that????), but is probably most popular for its hair-skin-nails benefits! (It’s literally the #1 ingredient in any vitamin or supplement marketed specifically for your hair, skin, + nails, so you don’t need to get all fancy – you can pick up the basic pill and it’ll work the same as any pretty packaged one on the market!). It’s not like it’s a magic pill that will give you long, luscious locks and flawless skin – wouldn’t that be nice?! Ha! But if you’re concerned you might be Biotin deficient or want the extra boost, it could help!
5.) Get handsy. Especially in the colder season when it’s ALSO cold and flu season, we’re all washing our hands more (hopefully), so your hands are also getting that much more dried out. Colleen Rothschild’s is second to none. Also another 5-star customer rated product – sensing a trend??? Ha! It feels thick + luxe upon application, but it’s non-greasy and is absorbed into your skin pretty quickly. It’s also got an innovative brightening agent in the formula, as well as Myrrh Extract, which work to help minimize the appearance of age spots and that crepe-like skin that can develop as we get older. I loveloveLOVE that since so often we forget that our hands are one of the first things on our body to “show” age – so this is also a REALLY good giftable for your mom, your grandma – any “older” lady in your life who might want a little luxury at her fingertips (literally).
6.) Turn down the heat. I mentioned this earlier, but now is NOT the time to take piping hot showers and heat style on 400 degrees.
7.) Wash your face once a day, but make it a double cleanse (here’s how to double cleanse properly!). Maybe one of the most popular products from Colleen Rothschild (+ one of my own personal favorites) is the , which blows everything out of the water in terms of 5-star reviews. I mean, I don’t think it has anything LESS than that! It cleans out congested pores, removes impurities, and dissolves your makeup so that you’re, well, radiant post-cleanse! For anyone thinking EW GROSS, I don’t want to only wash my face once a day – I just mean WASHING once a day. You’re cleansing twice, and double at nighttime.
Let me explain.
In the morning, just wipe a cotton pad soaked in micellar water over your face for a gentle cleanse of excess oils or traces of makeup that won’t actually strip or further dehydrate your face.
At nighttime, double cleanse. I’ve got an entire tutorial on how to do so + my own routine in this post, but start with your before using your favorite cleanser. (Just make sure your cleanser isn’t harsh, and doesn’t have soap or alcohol inside – that can strip your skin and dry it out more – I use !) The Radiant Cleansing Balm has Loofah Seed + Moringa Oil inside, which have cool purposes: they help renew the outer-layer of skin cells on your face while helping to restore your skin’s flexibility and equilibrium.
ALSO TO NOTE, all Colleen Rothschild skincare products have something in their formula called Level E3, which is an exclusive, secretive technology to improve + increase the effectiveness of key ingredients. Code FALL25 is the one to use , and code ERICA20 anytime after that for 20% off. My blogged Top 5 all-time favorite Colleen Rothschild products here.
Have you tried Colleen Rothschild Beauty products yet?
If so, which have you tried and what do you think??? How else do you keep your skin and hair healthy, hydrated + strong for the winter season?
