Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend??? (Correct answer: TOO SHORT). This weekend friggin’ *flew* by. I’m just here on the Monday morning struggle bus with not-enough coffee and too much to do. Can ya relate??? Mixing things up today with a little OOTD action…
Early last week, I found myself resolving to actually *try* every single day. Which sounds so bad – I mean, my job is being a full-time blogger, so you’d think I’d at least try to look the part? Ha! But really, I was finding myself resorting to yoga pants and the whole “athleisure” thing a bit too often, and the only time I was feeling really GOOD about my look would be on shoot days…when I’m actually trying. So, I did a little experiment. All last week, I pre-planned my looks like I used to back in the day when I wasn’t not-leaving-my-house to go to school/work/etc. I allowed myself one day in the “workweek” to be my more chill athleisure day (Thursday, since I don’t put up a blog post on Thursdays and I have a bit of a different daily schedule then!) And I noticed a *clear* correlation between how good I looked, and how good I felt. Really, it’s all in the effort. The more effort I had put into my hair/makeup/OOTD that day, the more I got done in other areas, too. I was more productive, feeling more put-together. I took myself more seriously, instead of feeling like a bum every day. I was finding myself hopping on Instastories to chat with y’all more, justbecause I didn’t look scary AF. Ha! Really, it made a difference! SO, a week’s worth of OOTD inspiration for ya, in case you’re in the mood to kick off the week with a little shopping + outfit-putting-together yourself…
Watermelon tee (Runs a bit small – I sized up to a M! Currently on sale from $30 to $9.99! This is an exact dupe, too, but sells out quickly every time it’s back in stock!) // Rachel Parcell jeans (Run TTS – SO comf. As seen in this blog post!) // White Jack Rogers – my exact pair are actually dupes I found at Burlington, but similar + actual Jack Roger’s on sale here + here! // Covergirl Melting Pout Liquid Lipstick (shade: Evan-Gel-ical)
JAM PACKED DAY of productivity, yo! I was actually *so* proud of myself, cos normally Monday’s get a bad rap. And normally, I have a too-full to-do list that gets maaaaaaybe halfway checked off? BUT NOT THAT MONDAY. It was the first time in a long time that I tackled every. single. thing on that list. #unstoppable.
I blame the fact that these jeans are quite possible the softest jeans on the face of planet Earth. I kid you not, they feel more like yoga pants than denim. So much so that I juuuuust might’ve had to hit repeat later on in the week… 😉
Gingham top (SO affordable – only $15! Has the *coolest* tie-up back, too. I stayed TTS!) // White jeans (similar pair also from Forever 21 – they come in a bunch of other pretty pastel colors, too!) // Everlane Bridge sandals // Covergirl Outlast lipstick (shade: Into the Fuschia) // Turquoise Kendra Scott earrings
Full day of work in my inbox, collecting podcast recommendations from you guys on my Instastories, and getting organized in the office!
J had a later day of work, so I took some me time to just VEG the heck out.
Watched a movie, an episode of Glee, AND an episode of Criminal Minds, started a book, and then fell asleep with J watching 13 Reasons Why Season 2 (Have you seen it yet? What are your thoughts?)
Target tee // Rachel Parcell jeans // Cardigan (got it from Amazon! Can’t find the exact one currently, but it’s actually made by Amazon’s own in-house brand team – more similar grey cardigans also by them are here! But similar option in a sliiiiiightly lighter grey option is here from Nordstrom.) //Rhinestone slide sandals (Only $22!) // Neutrogena HydroBoost lip shine (shade: Ballet pink – currently BOGO 50% online at Ulta!)
Softest jeans on the planet, take 2! Really tho, can we say IMPRESSED. I mean, they made it into my Best Jeans Under $100 roundup for good reason. They’re phenomenal. I had a near-hissy fit this weekend trying to find them to wear them, forgetting they were in the wash. They’re just made so well and feel like your favorite worn-in pair right outta the package, which is so great (ain’t nobody got time for uncomfortable break-in). They’re flattering on your booty (important), they cuff effortlessly (important), they’re distressed but not too distressed (important). Check, check, aaaaaaaaaand check.
This Hump Day was a good Hump Day. Didja happen to catch J’s takeover on my Instastories for some blogger mail unboxings on that day??? It was grand. ICYMI, it’s pinned to my profile under my “Highlights” right now, so I’d go give that a watch to start your week laughing. 😉
Target light thermal top (Technically a sleep top, but SUUUUUUPER SOFT – so worth wearing on lazy days 😉 And only $14.99!) // Zella leggings (I typically wear XS – the high-waisted are my favorite black leggings EVER) // Nikes (older, but TONS of other black and white Nike options available here!) // Adidas baseball hat
I’m SO glad I picked up this little thermal top on a whim during our last Target escapade. Really, it was a supposed-to-be-short Target run turned into a two-hour shopping party with the husband, so per usual, I ended up with a whole lotta sh*t that I didn’t really need. #BeenThereDoneThat, amiright? Ha! But this top. Teeeeeechnically, it’s a pajama top. But I was wandering the pajama setion (for pajamas that I didn’t need) and touched it, and y’all, I’m a fabric whore. If it’s soft + squishy, I. want. it. all. This top is like a baby’s blanket, I swear – it’s so stinkin’ soft!!!! But I think you can TOTALLY get away with it not in bed – I paired it with white distressed jeans and cute mules recently to dress it up, and it 100% worked.
Then there are Zella leggings, which are God’s gift to legging world. For me, black leggings are like graphic tees – I have way more than I need, yet still jump at the chance to pick up another. But these leggings trump every other pair on the shelf. They’re just made SO well, work for actual workouts and/or just hanging out, and last like a charm. They’re thick enough that you can’t see a single thing through ’em, but they’re still moisture-wicking so you don’t feel suffocation when sweating. I actually have two pairs just in case one is in the wash when I feel an urge to wear them, and I’ve got another color in my cart. They’re 100% worth every penny – they just fit like a glove!
Blue swing jersey dress (My favorite kinda dress right about now! SO breathable + easy to just throw on and go! My exact dress is on sale now for $19 – I bought it in the palm print, too (as did literally all of my girlfriends) for summer! Here’s a sleeveless version from the LOFT for the tank alternative.) // Kendra Scott necklace (c/o) // Gucci disco bag // Pom pom sandals (old from Target!) // Liquid lipgloss (L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss in Fuschia Amnesia – currently BOGO 50% off at Ulta! This formula is SO good – not drying in the slightest, and pigment lasts all day!)
Friday was fun (aren’t Friday’s always?!). We got to double date with really good friends of ours that we hadn’t seen in nearly a year – since right before they had had their daughter. So we got to see them AND meet their nearly-one-year-old, which was so fun! And nothing really beats a good backyard cookout with friends in the summer, ya feel?
I wore this this cute little blue swing dress from Old Navy. It’s insanely soft + squishy + wrinkle-free (can ya sense my theme here??? ha!). Ridiculously EASY, hassle-free look that still looks cute enough for date night.
Married AF tank (Sold by my friend Taylor of The Daily Tay – go support her awesome biz!) // Star leggings (These are $22 designer dupes for $180 leggings – insane! As seen in my favorite Amazon purchases of 2018 post. 😉 Go add a pair to your cart!) // Allbirds sneakers (These sneakers are so comf, they almost feel like – dare I say – bedroom slippers. Awesome support. But also, they can be thrown in the washing machine to get clean, because they’re a wool body. How cool is that?!) // Pink Adidas hat
Saturday was JAM-PACKED for us (as was the whole dang weekend – ha!). We kicked it off with double car inspections, which of course, take for-freakin-ever. After that, we changed quick to head into the city for the Philadelphia Great Chef’s Event, in partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand; it was this *awesome* event with 40+ chefs from all over the country, all sampling their food + drinks, and event proceeds went to fun childhood cancer research.
Needless to say, we left stuffed. 🙂
And Saturday night, we had *another* double date on the books, so it was such a good weekend catching up with friends!
…Had no one OOTD. Namely cos it was shoot day, so I was wearing what felt like 32 different things over the course of 9 (yes…9) hours. It was #intense. So much is in the works, friends! And now this girl needs a coffee + a break, and it’s only Monday morning. I feel like the little girl in the wasabi video…HELP.
Which OOTD is your personal favorite?
Do you like seeing a week’s worth of OOTD inspiration? Is it interesting/fun/helpful for ya, or nah? This was/is a total experiment here, so pleasepleaseplease let me know your thoughts!
For more style stuff, I’d recommend a few recent goodies that were total labors of lovelovelove: the best jeans in my closet that are under $100, a week’s worth of ways to wear your favorite graphic tee, + the best white t-shirt contest!
Das it. Happy Monday. Peace & blessings.
