Y’all. It’s about to be 2018.
I know, I know…Christmas hasn’t even come yet, so can we not jump straight to the new year? But we are living in the future. Literally. In the Back to the Future movie trilogy, they jump to 2015 as “the future.” Here I was thinking they jump to 2017 but NOPE, their “future” is actually our “past.” Alright now I’m overwhelmed and need more coffee. BRB.
*gets coffee*
Aiiiiiiight, let’s talk balls dropping. (yannno, the Times Square ball? Mind outta the gutter!)
TBH, I didn’t have this post on my editorial calendar…but then a Target trip happened. And I lost all my money and now I’m broke and begging on the street for Starbucks and donations from the dollar aisle cos #CantStopWontStop. 😉 But really, we all know how the story goes:
Enter Target strong, 1 thing on the list.
Leave Target 2 hours later, 17 things in cart that weren’t on your list and $200+ poorer.
Story of our collective lives, amiright? 😉
BUT. I swear this trip was worth it. Cos right as I was passing by the shoe section of shoes I don’t need to get to the home decor section to check clearance of things I equally don’t need, I saw the “festive” section of clothing that I don’t need…but really want. And then I bought two AND some white boots and left with empty pockets and #NoRegrets. HA.
These two jumpsuits caught my eye cos they’re literal eye-catchers. And then the pricetag really caught my eye – cos both are under $30! I found a whole BUNCHA New Year’s Eve dress + jumpsuit options below, but lemme tell ya – it’s not often you find cute, well-made outfits for under $30. So I figured it could/should/would be helpful for y’all to talk what to wear for New Year’s Eve, since it’s right around the corner.
($27.99! I sized down to an XS) // Black teddy coat (SO cozy + chic for dressier looks! Under $100, which is a steal for it.) // (only $12.99 – great stocking stuffer!) // (c/o) // Shoes (old) // (shade: “vintage” – one of my favorites this time of year, cos it’s so dang CREAMY! Applies flawlessly.)
I already wore this silver jumpsuit to my first Christmas party of the year and it was a *hit* (which you know if ya watch my Instastories! 😉 Follow along here @ericaligenza). It was a Style party, of all things, for a huge local style magazine, and I was stopped and complimented on it multiple times…which I think is awesome, especially since it’s less than 30 bucks from Target. 😉 Just goes to show that’s never about how much you spend on something – it’s all how you rock it!
AND I found it funny that the MOMENT I stepped into the party (which was at the Ritz Carlton in Center City Philly, mind you) and into coat check, the girl goes “Oh my gosh, that jumpsuit is perfect for New Year’s Eve!!!” And FYI, I wore this exact look head-to-toe (Lizzie McGuire, you are an outfit repeater!)
This second jumpsuit is just as beloved in my heart, and I think they *both* work quite well for everything from Christmas onwards, really! But if the sparkly slash shiny ain’t yo’ thaaaang, no worries – this cranberry color is still of the season, so pretty + flattering, and the chiffon material makes it instantly dressy and classy. The pant legs are so dang flowy, so you feel like a queen walking, really. And the top has built-in cups so no bra necessary (bless) and a gorgeous rose pattern in velvet detailing. So…it’s coming up roses. 😉
FYI for sizing reference, I sized down in both of these jumpsuits; I normally grab smalls of things, but I’m wearing XS in both here.
// Leopard coat (similar , , , ) // Necklace (gift from my parents) // Bracelet (great under $15 lookalike for David Yurman bracelets!) // Shoes (old) // (shade: “vintage”)
This has such a glam feel to me, so I lovelovelove it. Really, you could (slash should) pick up both options, then wear one for Christmas and one for New Year’s. Maybe the cranberry color for Christmas, silver for NYE? I mean, either way you can’t go wrong!
And when it comes to what to wear for New Years Eve, jumpsuits trump all namely because PANTS. I mean DUH, people…when it’s friggin’ freeeeeezing outside, ain’t nobody got time for skimpy little dresses, no matter how cute! Having a little extra fabric come midnight might be A-OK, especially if/when you can still look super cute.
For more on what to wear for New Years Eve, here’s an assortment of jumpsuits AND dresses. The sparklier, the merrier. Knock yo’self out. 😉
